Yesterday I took the G3 into the shed, and gave it a good dressing down with some really fine scale modelling sanding pads. Did loads of weathering it looks sweet! I then did the mags and they also look sweet.

Today I fire up the PC and think I'm going take some pictures of that G3... Well that was the end of that.

Camera had no charge, couldn't find the charger. Eventually did.

PC then pulled a fast one. Some issue with a game update and my SSD manager. It took out windows wholescale. All I was left with was a shell that refused to do anything other than complain. So Format time! Can't find my discs, Spend all day looking then they turn up in my sons room.

So I'm sat after probably 6 hours of torment, With a charged camera, a PC that is just beginning to look like a PC again and now I have to go look for my lightroom discs......

I swear I will get my G3 photographed today.....

Did it but there was no light by the time I got to picture taking....

If you want one, do it.

There is a lot of de-burring that needs to be done, pretty much every stamped steel edge will catch you especially round the magwell. The mags also need de-burring. It's a few seconds with a file to knock the edges back. But if you don't do it the gun will cover your hands in tiny paper cuts. There those really light cuts, not deep enough to bleed but with enough of them it gets painful to hold.

The gun itself hasn't got any major problems. You do need to shim up the midcap internals to stop them moving, And there have been reports of slightly warped tappet plates pulling the airseal nozzle slightly out. Mine doesn't have the airseal problem. And I'm sure LCT will make a fix for the midcaps at some point, It's a cheap fix to make them 100% so it's not a big detractor for the gun.

It would be a better buy than the Ares L1A1 if you were wanting a MBR for milsim. It's solid, well weighted, and will take a full wood kit for minimal effort. The prices are similar as well since the G3 is slightly cheaper and a wood kit is about €70. But you get steel instead of zinc castings. You could also swing DPM with a G3 as well since the L100A1 is a G3KA4 (short version) for SAS use. And there are documented reports of G3A3's been deployed in counter terrorism SAS ops in NI against the IRA in 1987.

GunFire has a load of JG G3 "SAS" variants in at the moment that they style as "T3s".  I was sorely tempted by one of the shortie versions for CQB use just for something different, but the availability of mid caps rather put me off.  Still, it's an interesting gun and yours looks like a lovely example.

Nothing, all parts are true to the original.

The rail needs no cover, It's a removable rail, So it's just as easy to remove it If I don't want it on. When I get the mil spec scope and claw mount in the future the rail will have to come off anyway.

Grip.Stock and foregrip are about as close to the real gun as you can get. You can get the real parts but there is no point as they look the same. There may at some point be a desire for a wood kit, For the minute the furniture matches the flecktarn camo for time period.

I had a look at some of them. Mid caps are available King Arms do a box of 5 110rnd mags that should work with the JG since it's a marui clone.

This is the model I would think most suits an SAS loadout.

Sadly, out of stock everywhere I looked, or only available with swingeing postage costs.  Otherwise it would have been very hard to resist snapping up one of the JGs at their current prices.

That LCT though...

The model you are looking at isn't a JG. It's an LCT and considerably more expensive. While it's a lovely gun, At it's price the LCT is hard to recommend, It's a gun you get because you want it, not because it does anything better.

As such you shouldn't regret your decision because the JG G3 (full length model) is known for been a pretty poor gun. It's long and the plastics are less than stellar. Creaks like a boat in a storm, and won't polish up like the above because it's made of plastic not steel.

LCT do have a very good quality about them. You get what you pay for IMHO (as with most things).

this is the motto for airsoft right there :D

gotta love something a bit different than just the standard m4, sure it's a good gun but variety is the spice of life.

weathering looks good, never been for doing it intentionally myself, i just prefer to let it happen naturally, but you've done a good job there.

All my Flecktarn just arrived from Poland :D And I have the day off work!

You would have hated the postage Rogerborg, Took 11 days to appear.

Might be a good day to set up webbing!

Nice pic yeah I noticed that about the LCT it was a little out of my budget

thats why I went JG  after a little reading up about them don't get me wrong I love the FAL seems solid and looking to be a great starting gun that'll keep and change as needed  but just the battery space isn't great

im curious to as if I could do this to the FAL but I thinks it's Made from aluminium I'll have to check

Looks good mate

What website did you buy the flecktarn from?

Posted

Army world in Poland.

http://armyworld.pl/main-eng.html

Prices are very good for Flecktarn and they have one of the best ranges of sizes I've seen online at decent prices.

Delivery is slow, mine took 11 days, and is untracked. Delivery is also expensive.

My full order was 221 zloty (£45) but the postage was 104 zloty (£21).

And then they add a little charge for paypal as well! so the full order was just shy of £70.

It arrived in very good condition, no holes, or tears. Pouches and webbing are a little grubby but otherwise perfect.

For that I got,

Parka (new), Trousers (issued ++), Shirt (issued ++), field cap, Ushanka (winter hat), Webbing, and 4 extra mag pouches.
