Ive got airsoft, pc gaming, lego and warhammer to hobby with. A printer will just be a death sentence for me. I'd have too much to print. mightyjebus
Cheers for the link but the 3D parts are only a short term measure as I should get my hands on a boneyard SCAR this weekend to rob bits from. Here's how it looks now with the 3D parts attached. gavinkempsell, Egon_247 and Rogerborg
ParHunter
My son is floating the idea that we should get a 3D printer. I am not opposed to the idea but I first want to get some feedback from people who are using 3D printers for Airsoft (and other stuff). How much do you have to spend to get a decent one (not the cheapest and not the most expensive one) Do you need to buy CAD software separate? What are the material costs? What size pieces can you print with Home 3D printers. Any recommendations for 3D printers. Thanks for your feedback and advice

Pla is more hardy and better for larger part whereas sla is better for smaller for detailed parts. Price wise you can spend £150 up to a couple of grand. I personally starting would spend no more than £300. Stick with the major brands like flashforge, creality or prusa etc. CAD can be expensive but you can download free CAD software or just use cults, thingiverse or something like that to download files. Slicers are free and should come with the printer. Parts size will depend on the printer but remember the bigger the print area the more money you will be paying. Costs personally are too much if you are only doing stuff for yourself. I use mainly resin and it can be £30-50 for a bottle of resin and it does last. hopefully that helps a bit ParHunter
ParHunter
I am currently looking at the Ender 3 V3 SE which looks quite interesting. That one would only be able to print PLA/PETG/ABS but I guess for Airsoft parts or parts around the house that is what you want. For most parts absolutely fine, I prefer resin for more detailed parts but they aren’t as hardwearing and you need to wash and cure.
ParHunter
Has anyone tried to print a Odin sound dampener insert in TPU? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115851600497 Would that work?

ParHunter
So my Ender 3 v3 SE has arrived and I’ve done my first few test prints (non-airsoft related). We are now thinking of printing some airsoft related stuff. What material do you normally use for hand guards, rails etc (e.g. for a carbine kit). I’ve only printed PLA so far and I’ve already noticed that that will probably be too brittle (already broke a piece I’ve printed). Do you use PETG or even ABS/ASA? What manufacturer do you recommend for the filaments that isn’t too expensive?

mightyjebus
this weeks project, a ACR stock adapter for a TM SCAR. Still needs a bit of tweaking but it's getting there. gavinkempsell
mightyjebus
stupid lack of TM spares making me reverse engineer the SCAR selector plate. Photo is PLA printed prototype on top. Final version will be done in Nylon resin. Egon_247 and Cocha 1

MorganL
I've started hitting the prints since starting this sport and also love 3D Printing. Started off with a Molle Case for my phone looked at some on Cult and thingiverse and well I have access to bigger toys so went with a 3D printed case & a Titnaium protective plate on the front with an adjustable Aluminium carrier to clip it to the molle band, I'll probably tweak the rear plate to take some weight out of it its fairly overkill at the moment lol, still in the trial and error stage though so tweaks to follow. Have also printed BB canisters, funnels, speed loader adapters all the usual stuff, batter boxex, pistal case, and probably over 50 of the banger grenades :). MorganL
My BB bottles with integrated speed loader funnel is complete, the other prints have text on with what’s in the bottles they hold over 5,000BBs. Lozart
ParHunter
One brilliant thing I’ve found for airsoft are these: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/bb-bottle-cap-for-emptying-mags Makes unloading your mags a breeze! I have also printed a carbine kit for my AAP but that took a few attempts to get right (3rd time lucky with the main body) and hours of post processing with a Dremel to get everything to fit. The only problem now is that my son is taking it for himself as he loves it so much. We are now looking for other fun ideas to print. Currently thinking of either a MOSCAT grenade launcher or my son wants a shot gun. Has anyone got good ideas or designs?
HuttArmouries
So having seem many photos of Explosive reactive armour blocks mounted to things It shouldn't be me and my friend got to talking about a dumb idea. I present you the first result of said dumb idea! The molle mountable kontact-1 ERA block! Ignore the colour. I got it cheap so I use it for prototyping. Will be in green for the final versions and maybe a stencil on top for the full meme effect Tackle
Egon_247
And down the rabbit hole we fall.....😱😂 Currently printing a mk23 outer barrel for my "trung" short version after the boy decided that we should resurrect it and actually use it .. along with a 14ccw thread to take shhh pipes. I keep thinking that my aap welrod would be better as a mk23 as no blowback and quiet but that's a project for another day/century...😁
