NAE13 Squad Colours

  1. 1. Which faction do you think an AF_UK squad should join?

    • Bravo - a collection of mercenaries and renegades.
    • Delta - the elite, organised troops.
    • The Others - whose idea of fun is causing as much death and disruption as possible!

The Marshals tend to congregate in the areas where the main action is and I saw them directing people to take hits, doing random chronos (I saw a bloke have his number taken and told to get his DMR out of the gamezone immediately because it wasn't locked off to semi-auto only), and providing ad hoc regen points when a skirmish turned into a pitched battle, so people could get back in quickly. That would be the clusterfucks you mentioned Ed...

The whole thing is far from it, but hugepitched battles did develop a few times. I swear, being shot at by several hundred people / being one of several hundred people pouring fire into a small area is a mad experience - not to be missed :)

TBH I don't remember having a huge issue with hit taking. I think it was pretty much the average I have come to expect. The rules at GZ are that when you are hit you find a dead zone (mesh walled compound) in which you have to wait for between 5 and 15 minutes - the dead zones vary. I did see the occasional person whom I had hit or I had seen hit back in action faster than I believe was possible had they been following the rules too, but I didn't ever feel like cheating was ruining the skirmishing or making me too grumpy to enjoy myself per se.

Thanks for putting up comments from the perspective of those who actually attended guys, I think my little team will be making the trip more for the shits and giggles than anything else, large pitched battle just sounds like a big giggle to me!!

None of this tent malarkey either, bivvy bag and the corinthia will be more than enough!!

  • 3 weeks later...

Just to confirm, we're planning to go with the "Others" as our team. So that I can buy the ticket now.

And do we mention that we'd all like the same camping area.

I'm going to buy mine the weekend after this'un.

"Others" is ahead in the poll at the mo, so I suppose this is the last call for anyone who intends to go to say 'no' and convince us to their point of view...

I voted for the others.

If I can get a mate to drive me down then I'm hoping to go. How much do you think the weekend will cost overall, including the ticket, food, ammo, and pyro?

I'll factor in petrol money and stuff myself, as if I can't go via car with someone else who's going I'll probably give it a miss. If I can keep the overall cost below £120 then I'm well up for it.

Booking deposit = £25

Remainder payable on entry to site = £60

Last year I used less than 3000 BB's so for 0.25g's say £10

Dunno what food anyone prefers but you need 4-5 decent meals + snacks (the tap water provided is fine)

Take Away = maybe £20-25 + £5-10 snacks or bring all your own = probably not much different

So yeah, Ed, it should be possible to do it on £120.

Well most of you know why I'm against the NAE.

Also FFS Don't go reporting anything to H because I've been told by a Reliable source (Team Highland Scorpion member's Atleast hey are with everything else I've ever questioned!) That they observed a kid get pushed over by a marshal & laughed at after he reported a Non hit taker! (I wasn't given an aproximate age just Kid so he could have in his early 20's for all I know)the Squad picked the kid up took him to the camp told his father who went and told H who apparently told him if he didn't stop spreading Malicious lie's about staff he'd have to Ban and Escort them off site! in this Team Highland Scorpian claim's nothing was done about the Hit Taker!

I'll also point out that No GroundBreaker or Team Reaction member Former or new! has attended the site, used the forum or shop since last Year's Incident with H's Foul mouth!

My AK died in the short time leading up to last NAE so I had to rent a gun at short notice. H dealt with me and made sure I had a rental AK so I could use my own mags - he was really helpful on the phone. I did have to hang around for about 10mins, after I'd made my presence known in person, because he was very busy, but he said "Let me just deal with this..." and, amazingly enough, he did actually just deal with that one thing before sorting me out.

Maybe he doesn't like Scottish people?

I went last year and we were on Delta. And, I intend on going this year too, hopefully with more mates, and hopefully with caravan and generator again.

But, we'll most likely go on Delta again, so may get to shoot some of you guys if you're all on Bravo/The Others.

Sounds like a plan, regardless of teams I think it would make sense to have an AFUK campsite again. I won't be booking til the very last minute as I'm on a waiting list for some fairly debilitating surgery but if I can be there, I will be.

Yeah, hopefully with more people this year. If Arden's going again, the generator and caravan will coming with us too.

I think I'ma coming. I've secured a lift with a local living Uni mate.

Thing is, how the balls does the booking work? It says they want you to send an email... But how does the payment you make ever get tied to the message you sent? How do they know who's paid and who's just sent the email? What's to stop me emailing them and saying my name's Ian and then just stealing Ian's ticket, and by extension, money.

Sort of.

If you get meh?

Once I figure it out, I'll book and send them my deposit. But, with the opinion of ZeroOne that I have (not good), I don't want to take any chances.

Least of all when they won't even answer my question via Facebook... It pisses me off so much that shops will use social media to advertise, but just straight up ignore all the questions littering it.

If I remember correctly from last year, when you email to book it, you get an email back, with your names and a unique player number to each name of the person you booked.

Then when you pay, you reference the player names, email, player number and I think contact number, although not sure.

It gets even worse when you're booking for multiple people, and some want to pay in full and others want to pay just deposit and the rest on the day.

Can't see it being a problem on August bank holiday. :-)

I don't remember thinking there was much of an issue to booking last year, Ed. I mean I don't remember any hassle and I probably would if there had been anything dodgy or overly complex about it.

@James: yeah an AF-UK campsite has got to be the best plan, regardless of which faction anyone chooses, - the more of us around, the better the security. What's the op, mate? Hope it's something with a good prognosis...

Regardless of camping together, I'd rather a bunch of us play on the same faction. Playing alone is OK, but it's a huge site and exploring it with people is cool.

Email's been sent, so I'm more or less a confirmed attendee ^_^

I hope my shitty pop-up tent is up for it, 'cos I can't afford to buy another.

@Ian, I'm having a wide excision of a pilonidal sinus with healing by secondary intention, recovery time is expected to be approx 16 weeks with some seriously unpleasant after care required. Needless to say it'll stop me skirmishing for a few weeks at the very least.

AF-UK campsite is a must, as you said better security with more people about and a bigger support network for when someone's gun goes wrong. Please note: WHEN, not if.

^^Quite lidderally a prolonged pain in the arse then. Ouch! You don't smoke though, right? So you should heal without infection. Maybe an idea to start taking @least 1, maybe 2, 1000mg Vit C tabs/day and some Vit E too - Holland & Barret are having one of their "buy one get one 1/2 price" sales @mo. Good luck!

Yeah, when. I'm hoping to take more than 1 gun this year...
