  1. From their Residential Terms and Conditions: "not bring into the Premises anything which in the University’s reasonable opinion is or may become dangerous, noxious offensive, combustible, corrosive, inflammable, radioactive or explosive including, but not limited to, firearms, air rifles, pistols, cross-bows, or any other weapons (including replicas or deactivated weapons), gas cylinders or oil burners."
  2. Greetings, Heading into first year of Uni later this year. And I was hoping to double check with anyone here that I've done all my relevant checks before I head off to university with the slice of my collection I select to bring along with me. Specifically, I'm heading to Cardiff Uni (Hopefully). They have an Airsoft society, so I'm also going to ask in their socials some of the more specific stuff to cardiff uni. So this post is more for general advice from any other Uni Airsofters or anyone who lives in shared living. Main questions are: Is it alright to store my stuff in my Dorm room? How can I secure my stuff relatively cheaply? (Worst case, a flatmate or other person gets into my room and tries to nick them. How do I protect from that without buying a gun safe?) How transparent with flatmates should I be about my stuff - Should I explicitly state and show my guns, or do I hide them, etc...? What's the best way to transport my stuff outside my dorm in the city so that I don't have to worry about any panic? (I already have gunbags, but I'm a little worried they're still gonna understandably cause some panic) Obscure money saving tips, I already have all the general tips, but there's always something new I could learn. Any oddities to Airsoft in Wales? And anything else that might be relevant that I haven't though of. Anything helps.
  3. Anything WE, Kyairsoft is the place to go. RA-Tech has a lot of hype however there’s a lot of horror stories of bad QC, tolerance differences messing up. Personally I haven’t bought any RA-Tech parts based on the poor feedback I’ve seen though. In terms of longevity, my WE G36 is my most used GBBR being fielded pretty much all summer for the past few summers and the internals are all holding up well!
  4. Hi all, I’m a relatively experienced airsofter & have been playing with AEGs for the past 18 years… Recently I’ve dipped my toe into the GBBR world & come into possession of a WE open bolt SCAR H. This thing is an absolute beast & the recoil is mega. Just wondering what the verdict is on these things? Like, what’s the life expectancy of the stock parts… is there anything I should consider upgrading before even playing with it? Any advice ref parts & reliable UK based retailers/stockists for said parts would be great. Thanks in advance!! Picture is just for attention…
  5. If you're looking for experiences, then it might be a good shout to check out the Recommend a Tech threads Otherwise, I would say it depends on your gun, what you want from it, your budget and how long you wanna wait The more experienced/popular techs will no doubt have the longest waiting times and higher cost per hour charge. If it's for your ICS then Fire-support are the UK ICS specialists and tend to have all the little obscure parts for them - their site says "Labour fee is calculated on a job to job basis, but a service is approximately 30-40." I used them briefly when I bought my ICS Mp5 on release and had a motor issue. They were pretty quick, with fast/friendly comms and sorted the issue - no problems People will have their go-to techs for things like HPA, GBBR, Tokyo Marui as those particular places will have a name for doing (hopefully) great work with them You should look to get anything minor like general shimming, changing a hop, changing/upgrading a piston done whilst booked for a service to get better value for your money/time Shimming and the mere installation of parts like that are generally included in that pricing, just not the actual cost of the parts supplied by the tech, (as you'd expect) Most techs will allow you to provide parts yourself, but will not offer any guarentee on any parts they did not advise/supply So Service+Parts+Return Postage is usually the general "quote". -IF- they offer a flat charge for a Service, then average is usually between £30-50 - depending on what they deem is part of that service. some have different versions with different prices like "basic service" or "full service" If they don't offer a flat charge for a "Service", then yeah it's whatever their hourly rate is and how long it takes them
  6. Hi, Have a look here for local sites - playairsoft.co.uk First couple of times you play you dont need to buy anything. You can rent it all from the site. Once the bug has bitten you though, a good set of eye protection and a decent set of boots should high on your purchase list.

APFG (VFC) MCX Legacy Most likely going to regret this since they seem to be sold out everywhere, but new toys mean I need to make space for more gbbs. From the factory these things can struggle with lower temps and they will over hop anything lower than a 0.4g bb, however with a lot of time, trial and error I've got it set up perfectly for 0.32g bb's with good cold weather gas efficiency. The legacy features an adjustable NPAS system which allows you to control the FPS via a 1.5mm allen key so you can set to your desired levels based on limits and outdoor temp. Upgrades wise I settled on the following; - Gunnut Craft Works MCX hop up arm - Maple Leaf Decepticon Hop rubber modified to fit - RA-tech 6.02 225mm inner barrel - AMG Winter Hammer Spring (original included) - Custom Winter Recoil Springs (original included) - MCX Folding stock (original collapsing stock included) Comes with original VFC 30rd gas magazine. Attachments not included. Plenty of videos and photos available. £600 + postage or collection from North Staffordshire area (No trades please, looking for a cash sale only as I have new rifs on the way)

  8. Not sure why you’re saying some are bogus defences. I can’t see Firesupport doing anything that was bogus, don’t they run the UKARA system for a start.
  9. Thank you Allow me to clarify that I am fully committed to upholding all rules and regulations, especially those concerning firearm laws, I do not try to bypass anything. However, I'm interested in understanding if there are any provisions for experienced airsoft players like myself. Several friends from Spain, Sweden, and Turkey, along with myself, are keen on participating in the National Airsoft Festival in 2024. Unfortunately, it appears they may face challenges bringing their own guns due to stringent border regulations regarding RIFs. Around whether international airsoft players must solely rely on renting equipment or if there are alternative arrangements, such as gifting, available to them. I'm somewhat perplexed because while UKARA is designed for anyone interested in airsoft, I'm uncertain if there are distinct limitations or exemptions for non-UK players aiming to participate in the UK. I've heard that some airsoft players go for two-tone guns, but I'm not quite confident about the buying and selling process that goes along with it. It appears my main option is to proceed with the £120 to expedite obtaining my UKARA, which I find somewhat expensive. Attending games in my area typically costs £25-30, with an additional £30-35 for gear rental, totalling an extra £120-135 plus the time and effort of participating in three games with potentially subpar equipment. Additionally, I'm curious about the potential implications of purchasing a RIF second-hand. Do I still need UKARA for such purchases? Many thanks. @WonkyBoi @novioman Thank you guys, I had chance to read your answers after posted my new post. I will have a look and check the options for these sportsman also got my answer already from @noviomanfor my second hand buying options. Cheers !
  10. There is an argument to be made that if you're not going to do anything to a stock boltie then you might be unable to fully hop a heavier BB, or you have to apply so much hop pressure that you drop the muzzle energy to the point where a lighter BB would end up going further. Which is why I was careful to say "starting with the same energy at the muzzle, and assuming that the hop can impart enough spin". The thing is, a stock Tokyo Marui VSR is likely to be shooting at something comically low like 0.72J (280fps with a 0.2g). I'm not sure if OP is rocking a VSR10 clone, or if it's pre-meddled, or if it Joule crept upwards rapidly with heavier BBs. Either way, there's only really two sensible ways to go with it: tune it down to under 1.4J, or up to 2.3J shooting the heaviest BBs that it will hop at that muzzle energy.
  11. You'll have to open it up and check for anything broken.

Scuffed up parts from a once beloved SA58 that shat the bed and then proceeded to roll around in it to the point where I abandoned all hope trying to get anything working again. Includes: Complete front end (no major damage, upper receiver, outer barrel, handguard, etc. etc. etc.) Lower receiver and stock (missing butt plate, has sanding/dremelling done around the hole for the trigger, and is missing the tiny ball bearing for the fire selector.) Pistol grip (don't think this has taken any damage) Railed top cover (no damage) Inner barrel + brand new hop up unit and the dust cover/mock bolt (damaged - part has chipped off I believe.) No screws or anything else included. Big tiddy Raven sticker and residue will be removed prior to posting. (its torn up beyond any recognition anyway ;( )

  13. I'm assuming you mean the Umarex one? I absolutely adore mine, after Patrol Base fixed the lemon I received from them. So far all I've done to it is fitted a gate titan (Mostly for the 30 round mag lock, no firing without mag inserted and bolt press to "load" it) and it's been an absolute workhorse. It hasn't needed anything doing to it. I have 0 regrets about buying one, personally.
  14. M90 is nice, but 4th for me is AUSCAM 😂 Although, really... Anything that isn't multicam 😂

  16. Funny, that looks like an AEG receiver post not anything that would would fit on a RS buffer tube - which means its about as genuine as Jacob Rees-Mogg.
  17. I only know slightly more than zero and mostly only about the replicas that PTS have done, which luckily includes this one. Like I've probably watched dozens of videos about cans on GunTube over the past decade, but end of the day the majority of them are just another black tube (at a glance) and they don't even vary greatly in size or shape and rarely have truly distinguishing features externally. You've got to deliberately go out of your way to get info and differentiate most of them, doubly so since some airsoft models aren't based on anything real but even the ones that are don't generally use the real name. There's a few standouts like the old KAC NT4 or the Osprey or some of the Q models but.. well I think this page makes my point fairly well - https://www.silencershop.com/silencers/5-56mm-rifle.html

  19. M mumI have the 1.25-5 vision king LPVO, and it's served me well very well so far. It's usually been on my GBBR and it seems to have withstood the strong recoil on that just fine. So a thumbs-up from on build quality Other airsofters who have taken a look through it all said nice things too, which suggests the optional quality is decent. (I've taken the suggestion to never look through an optic you can't afford onboard, but more by luck than anything else, I don't think I've had the opportunity really!) If you do want to try to use it in cqb then yes, get the 1x version, but don't expect it to feel or act like a normal red dot, maybe it's psychological (or maybe my extra 0.25x really does screw it up), but worth doing for the small extra outlay I'm sure. 5x max magnification has been plenty for woodland... It's usually at 3 or 4x tbh. Good sight, would happily buy again.
  20. The 26mm objective allows slightly more magnification for maximum low light gathering i.e. 7mm exit pupil at approx 3.7 x mag. The optical quality would dictate if this meant anything though. Have you looked through either though? I've a simple fixed 4x40 US made Weaver that outperforms any cheap Chinese scope of whatever make or spec. Personally I can snap shoot both eyes open with a crystal clear 4x as easily as 1x. I've a period correct fixed Nikko Sterling Gold Crown on my 'Nam M14. If you want multiple aimpoints I'd try and find a Hawke Panorama in 2-7x 32 1/2 mildot. I don't know what model replaced it, but when I shot the HFT world championship in 2014, the top three placed shooters were equipped with larger Panoramas. I have a 3-9x40 on my Steve Pope tuned HW97K HFT rifle. It's an amazing scope for the money. Another option is Minox BDC. Not sure these are cheap anymore. I use one of these on my SVD. https://www.uttings.co.uk/p122015-nikko-stirling-30mm-diamond-1-4x24-ir-rifle-scope-ndsi1424/
  21. No hi-capa is worth £700, no matter how much the seller has been silly enough to throw at it, especially as the original straight out of the box TM variants are superb on almost every level, anything added is usually just prettying them up, bit like a girl with her favourite dolly 😜
  22. Well, Worthing went through with the new limitations to ghillies. Nothing below a viper hood (shoulders) with 1.14j full auto. DMR and bolt actions only for anything longer or a full ghillie. However they have upped their DMR limits to 1.88j so we're in line with most other sites now, which is nice. At least I now have an excuse to finish my viper hood and buy some better combats.
  23. With the 2024 'Namsoft season coming up, I'm going to spend a few skirmish games using my 'Nam kit to see what I can get away with and get comfortable with the kit, as health problems prevented me from playing at any games last year so it's been a while... This means no ghillie, but doesn't mean no concealment tactics whatsoever, so £4 slightly coloured Aliexpress scrim net is great for covering up the m700. Will also have another scrim net in my kit to drape over myself and will attach some elastic bands for natural vegetation to further blend in. Might also swap this scrim net for a different coloured one as the other one I have to drape over myself is better colour shades for summer time. Along with my M56 belt kit set up for .308 mags, and TM 1911 or classical Ruger .22 converted AAP, we'll see what I can get away with against all those modern kits, ghillie suits and high cap magazines at skirmish days; if it works then, it'll work at the 'Nam games! I would run the mac11 as a sidearm (looks close enough to a mac10 with the chonk suppressor), but the filmsim rules means no full-auto for anything outside an LMG, so the 1911 or AAP work better as secondaries as they're easier to carry and the mac11's main strength is that brrrrrrrrrrrt fun switch. And no, I'm not a stitch counter and will never be one; I'm all about the BB wars itself. If it's mostly fine and passes the 10m "does it look period accurate" sight test, then it's fine for me. Not that people usually see me in game anyway, since my entire game plan is to remain hidden; last Vietnam game I played at I hit about half a dozen GIs with a 1911 from a bush and they still couldn't find me, despite the GBB action
  24. Definitely WE. Their glocks are rather good nowadays and they’re TM spec so there’re tons of aftermarket parts. Stay well clear of anything Raven or Vorsk. It will break sooner than later. If you want the best glock that will hold up for ages and shoots great, have a look at TM. Although they have a plastic slide.
  25. Agreed that his prices are bonkers at times (that said, I put an order in a year or so back for a few non overpriced items, and the service/comms were very good). I don't particularly have a moral judgment on his pricing though - people don't need to buy anything from him - we just live in a capitalist world!
