I've just noticed the wife's working on the 1st so I guess I'll not be going either, unless I can find a babysitter for the day. Here's hoping.

It's a good site. I'm a member, but don't get to go as often as I'd like. It's a woodland site, not huge, but definitely not small. Numbers vary from week to week, from 20s up to around 40s or 50s. There's a hard core of guys who go every game day and a regular bunch who come now and again. I'm in the now and again bunch due to family and work commitments. Everyone's very friendly and helpful, very ready to help out someone new. That said though, there is a lot of friendly banter. Facilities wise, there's an onsite shop, portacabin, where you can buy BB's and hire guns and the like. There's no toilet, but plenty of tree cover if needs be. Lunch is included in the walk on fee, Greggs sausage roll and beans, plus a cup of tea. Other than that you need to bring your own drinks and food as there's none on site and no shops nearby. The staff are happy to show people round on a game day if you're interested, but unsure, or you can just turn up, pay your fee and get stuck in. At the minute they're running games every two weeks over the winter period, but the rest of the year it's every week, always a Sunday. The next game is 1st Feb and I'm hoping I'm going to be there for that one. There's a Facebook page and a website with a small forum on. Someone will always answer any query you might have. In short, it's well worth coming along. You will have fun.

	Thanks M_P, I think that's decision made.

Thanks guys. I think I may just buy the stock gun and replace the bits when they fail. As I said I'm more of a collector and don't get to play as much as I'd like because of family and work. So the chances are I'll only get to use it 3 or 4 times a year in between using my AEG's.

I'm intending to get myself a WE SCAR GBB in the next couple of months and I'm trying to decide how much to spend and where to get it from. At the moment Taiwan Gun have it on offer for around £160, plus postage. But Milspec Solutions do one with NPAS and I think an upgraded bolt for around £280. Although they are out of stock at the minute. I know I'll probably need to switch out the bolt carrier at some point, I've seen a bunch of reviews that say this will fail eventually, and an NPAS kit would be beneficial if I'm going to use the gun on game days. So the question is, is it worth getting the gun from Taiwan Gun and switching out the parts as they fail, or better to pay the extra £120 for the Milspec gun, when back in stock? Also, anyone who has a WE SCAR, on average how long will the stock gun last before bits start to fail? I'm more of a collector, than a full time skirmisher. Due to work and family I only get to play once or twice every few months, so I'm thinking Taiwan Guns may be okay. Any thoughts.

moron shoots kid with air-gun at football match WHY
Super64 replied to chris555's topic in General Discussion
This is nothing to do with airsoft and will have no impact on our sport whatsoever. People get locked up for doing stupid stuff with airguns all the time and our sport is never mentioned. We are, for the most part, responsible, intelligent people who know what we are doing and what not to do. These people are inbred idiots who think it's funny to shoot someone with an air gun. I think we're safe for now. -
Not with the Gas mate, I love the electric one. I might get the GBB in the new year.

	VFC HK417. What can I say, I'm a sucker for H&K.

The Boot Repair Company, mate. I got in touch with them, cost around £65ish, plus delivery for genuine Vibram soles. They sent out a postage paid bag, I posted them off and got them back in about a week. They did a good job, defo good enough for work and will give me another year or twos wear out of them. Really worth doing. It's cheaper than buying a new pair and you wouldn't notice unless you looked up close.

I wear Salomon Cosmic 4D GTX and X Ultra GTX as my day to day civvie shoes and they are awesome. I'm looking to get a pair of Quest, but don't think I'd wear them for airsoft. I would say they are definitely worth getting. I use Lowa Combat GTX as my airsoft boots. I wear them for work and love them. Very comfortable straight out the box and last for ages. I've got two pairs, my old work, now airsoft pair that I've had for about 4-5 years and my newer ones that I've had for around 2-3 years and just had re-soled. I wore Magnums before the Lowa's and I would only get about a years wear out of them, I won't use anything else for work now. Awesome ankle support and foot protection on all types of terrain and totally water, (and blood, vomit, urine and all sorts of other stuff I come across on a daily basis) proof. Totally worth the money.

Howdo Borderdaz from a fellow NSC member in South Shields. I don't get across as much as I'd like, what with family and work, but hope to be back soon, so probably see you there.
 -
I'd agree with everything Cavninja said. If you're only wearing them for airsoft once a week or what have you and you want new, then Magnums will be fine. I wear boots day in day out at work and used to wear Magnum's. There are a few different styles, but I'd say you're best off going for full leather instead of the nylon sided as the full leather will keep your feet dryer. Bates are another half decent make if you're after the standard black combat boot style. Both the Magnum's and Bates will last a while if you're only using them once a week or so, but I found I was having to replace them every year or so. I've started wearing Lowa GTX combat boots and they are fantastic. Very comfortable straight out the box and last for ages. I've had a couple of pairs now and I'd not look at anything else. If you can get a second hand pair in your budget then I'd say go for them, you won't be disappointed.

What do you bring as a snack when airsofting?
Super64 replied to Lord_Metile's topic in General Discussion
Mars bar stuffed in a pistol mag pouch, just have to remember not to try sticking in my Glock. That usually sees me through until the Greggs sausage roll and beans provided by the site for lunch. I also bring a bunch of bottles of water to neck during the day. -
I was looking all over for an olive green Under Armour Cool Gear hood, couldn't find one anywhere in the U.K. but found U.S. Patriot Tactical selling them for a decent price. Ordered it on the Sunday night, received by the Wednesday. Very good service, no hassle, and good price. The website has a lot of good stuff, some of which is hard to find in the U.K. and the prices seem reasonable. From the title the store sounds like some dodgy doomsday prepper sitting in his basement, but you can't argue with quality stuff, at a good price, with good service. They are definitely worth a look and I would buy from them again.

I've just ordered the WE Glock 17 from Taiwan Gun, it should be here later this week. I've always really liked the look of the Glock and had to get one. All the reviews I've read say the Gen 4's are really good. On the other hand I have a KWA M9 and love it. I love the look, weight, feel and action of it. At the moment it's probably my favourite pistol. So I guess I'm saying if you have the cash, get both. Otherwise, go for a WE Glock or a KWA M9.

I get the feeling there may be a few VFC 417's coming onto the second hand market soon. -

Ooooh, TM Recoil Shock 417, I may have to hold off on the VFC GBB. If the 416 is anything to go by this is going to get expensive. Anyone heard any info about pricing? -
I've got a couple of AEGs at the minute, but I'm definatley looking to get a GBB next. The more I see of it the more I need to have a GBB 417, even though I've got the AEG. I guess that way I've got year round HKness. I don't see the mag capacity as a negative either. I tend to prefer aimed shots on semi than spraying on full auto. The only problem is the reliability of the mags and seals, but I guess that comes down to looking after your kit properly.

Bloody hell, just ready that thread and it's not pretty. You know when they say there are no stupid questions, well I guess we can put that one to bed ;-) Or is it more like there's no stupid question, just a stupid place to ask it? I can see why you asked though. It would be interesting to get feedback from serving and ex-forces about our hobby. I know the site I'm a member of has a number of serving soldiers come along every now and again and they seem to enjoy it. I'm ex-army myself, a number of years ago now, but I really enjoy airsoft and take it for what it is, a hobby, a sport, a way to blow off steam from the day job. No one I know involved in airsoft takes it any more seriously than that and I think with the amount of money we spend on weapons and loadouts we can do whatever the bloody hell we like. I am 100% behind all our armed forces, but unfortunately there are some who are just a bunch of knobs, like there are in any job. Good effort for putting yourself in harms way like that though, I dare you to ask again ;-)

Drop leg at the moment, but I want a molle holster so I can fit it horizontally on my chest, in place of the admin pouch. I think it looks cool there, but not sure how much it will interfere with my sling. Don't know whether to get a model specific holster or a more universal one for my M9 and HK45.

I wear Lowa combat boots. I've worn them for work for years and have two pairs. My new ones I wear for work, my old ones are for airsoft. They're expensive, but very comfortable straight out the box and last for ever. The thing with boots is that you can spend £40 - £50 every year or so having to replace them, or spend £150 on something that'll last for a few years, may only need to change the soles every couple of years. I know they'll only be worn once a week, if that, but I'd rather spend a little bit more and know that my feet and ankles are well protected.

How come you aren't allowed to spray a gun but allowed to own a RIF?
Super64 replied to Lord_Metile's topic in UK Law
I stand corrected mate. But it does highlight one point and that is if we as active skirmishes have difficulty with the law then how the hell is anyone else supposed to know what they are doing. As per usual, law makers make things to damn complicated, even for people like me who use the law every day. -

Super64 replied to Lord_Metile's topic in UK Law
VCRA Section 39, (2) ( b )Specification for imitation firearms A person is guilty of an offence if he modifies an imitation firearm so that it ceases to conform to the specifications so required of it; The question was how come you aren't allowed to spray a gun, therefore changing an imitation firearm into a realistic imitation firearm. Both are separate entities under the legislation. This is the section in law that technically prevents you doing this. But, another question is will you be arrested for doing this and charged to court? Very, very unlikely. Not by any of the cops I know anyway, and trust me, that's a lot. -

Super64 replied to Lord_Metile's topic in UK Law
The VCRA defence is all about the ownership of an IF and a RIF. By painting an IF into realistic colours you are technically manufacturing a RIF, which is not covered by the defence. The main difference is ownership and manufacturing. It is illegal to manufacture a RIF unless you have the appropriate legal authority. That's probably one of the reasons there are no U.K airsoft manufacturers, because getting the legal stuff sorted is such a pain. That's about as simple as I can explain it, to my own understanding anyway. -
Personally I preferred Band of Brothers and I love the sound track for that, listen to it on my iPod quite a bit. I don't know whether it's because it's the European campaign or because most of the actors in it are really British, but I just think it's one of the best T.V. Series ever. The Pacific was good, but I was a bit disappointed. It might have been because the fighting was broken up to much by the whole relationship thing.
