  1. My M4A1 (semi)build is now finished. Saying its a semi-build as the receiver, hand-guard, and gearbox were already together. Put a Rogers Super-Stoc on the back, mounted a few rails to the TRX rail, rewired it from deans to mini-Tamiya, replaced the old hop unit with a new one, added a Madbull Hutu, spliced it into the existing wiring, spliced in a switch, broke the switch which fried the Hutu ground wire, replaced the Hutu ground wire, spliced in a new switch, bolted it all down, took it apart again (due to the wiring preventing the magazine from seating), simplified the wiring, put it back together, and it's working well now. So what's here? This M4A1 is from BigAl, so it's got a G&P receiver with Colt trademarks, a Star gearbox, Madbull Ultimate Hop Unit + tracer, Rogers Super-Stoc, Rogers GripPod with added RIS rails, Safariland torch, fake PEQ box for battery (soon to be replaced by another that is on its way), a decent green laser (too lazy to look up the brand), a GoPro bar mount, a GoPro RIS mount (not pictured), a Madbull version of the Troy TRX hand-guard with Troy trademarks, a Safariland single point harness, a Wilson Combat dual mag coupler, an ICS folding front sight, a TruGlo RDS, and a foam filled silencer which actually does bring down the noise some. I can also switch the GripPod out for a DBOYS M203 UGL if I am playing CQB. *Edit Moving this here from Loadouts, don't know why I posted it there in the first place.
  2. Alrighty then, My new M4 couldn't fit my usual tracer/mock silencer, the B&T unit. As such, I looked into both tracer mags and Hutus. This seems to be the way to go, unless you want to DIY it. So... What's in the box? There are two options here. The first is to buy the Madbull Hutu for around £60, which includes a Madbull hop unit as well as the tracer unit. The second is to just buy the unit if you already have the hop unit. The tracer part of the set is quite simple, with only four parts. These are: the tracer chip + LED and connected wires, a second set of wires that plugs into a socket on the first, and two little one way rings that hold the tracer to the hop. Installation: simple. Plug wire 2 into wire 1, set on hop, push rings onto two poles that are part of the hop, splice into battery wires. Wiring: not simple. Almost all online reviews say this is a simple product to install. It is. What isn't easy is dealing with all the wires. For front wired guns, the socket is too large to fit through the hole, so you either need to accept the mess of wires stopping your mag from seating, or accept that your gun's receiver and outer barrel are connected for good. I don't believe this will be as much of a problem for rear wired guns. Operation: simple. If your battery is plugged in, the Hutu will be on. Pros: Internal. This allows for shorter guns, great for cqb guns. No more forgetting to bring AAAs for your tracer, as it uses the gun's battery. Simple installation. Cons: Dimmer. Not quite as good as most silencer/tracers, as the light only shines on one side of the pellet, not all around like silencer/tracers Wires. Everywhere. Only fits M4s and M16 (can probably be modified to fit others) Always on. Although it uses so little battery this isn't really an issue. Possible upgrades: There isn't much, as this needs the Madbull hop to work. You could modify another hop to work with it though. One thing that I personally did was wire in a switch to turn the unit on and off. For pics, check out my M4A1 in the Loadout section from today.

  4. M4A1 (simi)build finished! Finally ironed out all the problems.

  5. Well, I am actually done, not that I dont want to buy everything I see... The thing is that I may be moving after summer, and as such, would have to sell most of my stuff. So holding back until I know.
  6. Madbull hutu unit, Nuprol black gas, we green gas, abbey 144a gas (not maintenance), custom patch, MP5 style PEQ box. Airsoft spending: done (until after summer).
  7. Hello, and welcome. In terms of female airsofters, yall are a rarer breed. Saying this, ther has always been at least one female player at every game I have attended, so you may find some showing up to games you attend. I will suggest (as will everyone on here) that before you buy anything, go to a couple of games and get a feel for the sport before you spend too much. Airsoft can be an expensive sport as well, so make sure its right for you before you buy. As you are new, I assume you do not know about VCRA or UKARA, ill let some of the more expirenced people on here tell you about those.I do not know of sites in your area, but someone will. So in conclusion, hi, welcome, rent first, buy later, and enjoy
  8. Yes, I see your point. However, I already own a B&T tracer, and the only reason i would get a new tracer would be specifically for this M4. The B&T fits on all my guns bar this one, so if my M4 went out, I would just grab one of my other two guns, and screw the b&T onto them. Also, my M4 needs a new hop, as its current one isnt good enough. So I can get a hop and tracer in one.
  9. If you want, I can go strip down mother M4 and post pics; I don't believe there is any defining features of the part that would make it easy to ID; I'll also ask Al if he knows what it is. *Edit Here is a quote from the selling page, it might say what the barrel make is: " This time we have a G&P Body featuring Colt M4A1 trades, inside is a Star Gearbox. This has a CQB length outer barrel fitted with a Prometheus Black Python inner and a short stubby ccw/cw reversible silencer."
  10. My M4A1 I got from BigAl. It has a Star gearbox in a G&P receiver. Right now, this looks like my best choice for tracers, as long as it will fit. Just need to come up with a few more £, unfortunately won't probably arrive until next week; would like to play with it this weekend, as we have a 4 day weekend due to conferences.
  11. Yea, I know. Both the sites I was looking at (airsoftworld and where B recommended sell it as the hop and tracer together).
  12. Thanks B, will check them out. Friz, is it a splice-in connection, or is it an extra part with a female/male bit that just extends it a bit? And is it Tamiya or mini Tamiya? I will probably end up wiring in a switch, as I often forget to disconnect batteries from my guns; plus, there would be some areas (or if I want to be ninja) where I would prefer to have it off, but have the option to turn it on. Also, some places say that it isn't great as a hop unit including Lozart on here (but not from first-hand experience). Do you agree with this, or is it fine (not looking for an amazing unit as I may be forced to sell everything if I am heading stateside in a few months). My current hop is pretty poor, so it probably needs replacing anyway, and I figure I can kill 2 birds with one stone here. *Edit: Just saw that you said you didn't have the LED part, so if you can't answer anything in the first part, don't worry.
  13. Hello all, Those of you who have looked at the recently purchased thread recently will know I have an interest in these, specifically this one: http://airsoftzone.co.uk/ultimate-3-in-1-hop-up-chamber-unit-with-tracer-led-module-for-m4-m16-series-madbull I am unsure on installation, however, and have a few questions; 1. What battery does this connect to? The one the gun uses? 2. What connector type is it? Tamiya, Deans, etc. 3. How easy would it be to wire a switch into it? 4. Has anyone ever used these, and if so, would you recommend it for The Mall, or something similar? Thanks, Spaz
  14. Yea, but with the cost of one mag equal to that for the hop, I would probably just get the hutu.
  15. haha, I was thinking we had kinda disrupted the thread....
  16. im big on CAD/CAM and computer design manufacture. Based my IB diploma around it as well, and have been doing it with Autodesk Maya, ProDesktop, and Solidworks for four years in Singapore and here. Also, as some of you will probably like to hear, I have been to the main Safariland plant in Florda and met with the designers there (thats why I know Bill Rogers amd have so many Safariland products).
  17. based off my career options and wants, I am torn between Richmond uni here, and either FIT or UCF in Florida. Also, I have an open offer for an internship in florida, but whether I decide to do that year-round, or just over the summers, i do not yet know
  18. Im in Sunningdale, as you should know Lozart (think UGL). Its nice here, and I dread moving back to the US for uni, as I dont wnt to lose my sport
  19. haha, not forces. my dad works for Abbott Labs, which is a big pharmacutical (pardon my spelling, my ipad doesnt do autocorrect) company, and he keeps getting promoted, so we move every two years or so. I lived in five states by the time I was five, but we set up in Tennessee for 8 years. Singapore was our first overseas move, and now we are about to start our fourth year here in the UK.
  20. although I am American, I have been living elsewhere since I was 12. Math was a typo, or mybe autocorrect. And its just habit to call it high school, as my US and Singapore schools both called it that, and my current IB school has PYP, MYP and IBDP, not primary and secondary school.
  21. I already have a B&T tracer; my issue is that it is just a touch too wide; these probably will be too. and I know the hop isnt part of the gearbox; just havent messed ariund with my new M4s internals besides rewiring it.
  22. Hmm... Gonna need to sell a few more organs to be able to get anything right now, but who knows, I sometimes babysit for some rich people . Might get lucky. Anyway, I only have experience with one AEG gearbox (from a P90, which is considered to be the easiest to work with, yet still took me more than an hour to get the stupid spring to hold still long enough for me to jam it all back together...), so I'd have to find some sort of in depth tutorial explaining how to do this, else I would fudge it up...
  23. With a price tag that high (unless there is something I'm missing), it better allow you to levitate, see through walls, bend pellets mid-flight, and project a force field around you...
  24. Gosh darnit, spending too much... Just got a few more things... Vegetato set from Airsoft_Mr B, £30, a new ZCA 60 rnd 40mm grenade (brings total up to three), £22, a basic coyote tan double 40mm grenade MOLLE pouch, £7, WE Nuprol 4.0 gas (black), £17, WE Nuprol 2.0 gas (green), £12, ICS folding foresight, £22, and about to order a custom Velcro patch with Spaz and Rogers on it (if I can still afford it). Oh, and a mock silencer that fits my new M4A1 from BigAl, as my B&T tracer is about 1/8 of a mm too large... Shame, I guess not tracer for me... There's now an extra 6000 tracer round sitting around my room :/
