  1. It's only a very small percentage, few years back I've spoken to a few other retailers about this and they have report the same issue. I've only ever had it reported on 1 of my XT 22TPA motors since selling (about 3 years). More people using short-stroking in combination of 7.4v batteries seem to have reduced the issue. I've come across at least 2 ASG motors that exhibited the same symptoms so I'm not convinced it restricted to any certain grade of motor.

The new brushless motor, not quite ready yet as waiting for the towers and pinions VID_20240125_144722.mp4
  3. Surely if the motor has a hard brake instead of a soft break that's going to impact the motor quicker? I'm just going on what I've seen in the past ten years. I'd say 90% of the motor returns / failures I've had from customers have been caused by the Titan adaptive AB feature, or at least that's the one thing they all have in common. Perhaps it's something else that's going on with the feature.
  4. What's the SHS motor out of interest? Be careful with that Adaptive AB setting and 11.1v, can easily spanner a motor. As Loz says try with a 7.4 and well worth getting a basic soldering kit for the battery connector conversion.
  5. they do state on eBay they use 2nd class RM but last time i used them it came 1st class. i imagine they just keep their shipping simple, doesn't make much sense though to be cheaper on single parts on eBay. I don't use eBay much anymore since the fees got past 15% and the scamming went through the roof! I used to offer 1st class shipping for just £1.50 but sadly a few too many "package never turned up" when in fact it did pushed me to moving to a more expensive service.
  6. @DanBow what's the product on eBay?
  7. Yes it is a problem with some sites sadly. Some retailers are restricted in what kind of mail services they can offer, i.e. they need to reach a certain quota in order to keep getting their discounted rate. Does the eBay listing use Royal Mail and the website a courier? Faster vs Slower could be the price difference?
  8. It's pointless really, would cost quite a bit in time and money and will just encourage Ares to make more proprietary parts! @Skara has the better idea, try to make a standard V3 fit
  9. @Marauder211 tried to message you on FB but I think you've got some security on your account which prevents me..I've got a feeling the ZCI v3 uses the same shitty ETU board. That being said it's so hard getting individual parts sent over. I don't even deal much with ZCI anymore, went downhill when they got bought out by a bigger firm. Need someone in the UK airsoft scene like StezStix Fix 🙂
  10. @Marauder211 Definitely try the official guys first
  11. I don't think I've ever seen an ARES v3 gearbox, however their V2's were originally ZCI's micro-switch design. Does it look like this?
  12. 1.09j to 1.33j is a pretty big jump, was the new ZCI the same length as the stock? Have you measured your stock barrel inner diameter? From my recent tests, one thing for sure is very few inner barrels are actually what they say they are.
  13. I'm guessing they build up a number of orders (whole order) before shipping out from Poland in order to bulk ship? Cheaper for them but can introduce delays. I had Airsoft stuff on a BOAT leave China mid November and arrive December 27th. Sometimes customs will stop shipments and check all items meets conformity etc, had that happen once with some chrono's, they said the chrono's weren't supplier with instructions, waited almost 3 months for them. The instructions were sitting in the box. Nightmare. As your part isn't that expensive worth ordering another one from HK?

Oh wow thanks man. Keep an eye out on 2024 for inner barrels and brushless motors, plus more custom part.
  15. Recently got a SLONG (revised version) of it's V2 shell for some testing, was impressed with the finishing on it, powder coating I think, very smooth and clean. It's missing some radius, got QD, very decent stainless steel spring guide with a bearing. Could do with some better wire channelling. On the surface compatibility looks good but till you try it in every brand you never quite know.
  16. Rough'ish, just waiting on lots of stuff to arrive but with Chinese holidays round the corner might be slow going. So a good time to work on new website and do some product design stuff that I've been meaning to get around to. Really want to stock some decent well priced qd gearbox shells but the age old problem is compatibility and availability. Trying hard though to work with existing suppliers to make a few adjustments.
  17. The Ultimate Gearbox is a Lonex rebrand, very nice part but no QD spring sadly. Orion probably best bet but quite high with the shipping from EU etc. Delta Armoury looks good enough and decent price.
  18. I wanted to test the theory of barrel scratches, I took 3 barrels, brass, aluminium and stainless steel. Did a borescope video before on all 3, then used a nylon cleaner brush 15 passes on each one, then cleaned with tissue and isopropanol, then another borescope video. I was expecting perhaps some scratch on the brass but nothing on any of them. Just be 2 cents worth. @Yashy Have a watch on YT at how to remove and clean an inner barrel, it will also explain to you about how to clean and remove the hop chamber and hop rubber. If you plan on playing quite a lot this information will really help you get the most out of your AEG.
  19. With the 6.01 you're likely to get a better grouping, and slightly higher power. However it's very dependent on having the nozzle, hop rubber, hop chamber setup correctly. Also some AEG's just play differently. 6.03 is a little more less prone to jamming. I did receive some 6.05 x 128mm testers as well and I got amazing results even with 0.2g. I was very surprised so I might even arrange for some of those to be made. I'm hoping production will start mid-Jan with a small run. For the price of a spring it's definitely worth grabbing a new one of the XT, you might only need a M100. The factory did the actual RA surface test with a Profilometer gauge. For a decent one they're kinda expensive. They take sample barrels during production, cut them open and measure etc. You can actually measure a fair amount yourself with a good borescope and then compare against a chart. I'm also looking into polishing as well for some projects, a factory has said they could build me a custom machine to do the work, just waiting on a price 🙂
  20. yeah man, just get a basic brushed short motor. basically 2 types, one with cheap magnets (around £15), one with decent magnets (around £30). have a look on aliexpress
  21. The quality of ZCI has taken a little nose dive recently so I really don't want to stock them anymore. On the few remaining ones I have left I have to do a number of tests on them before I let them out the door. On a couple I've even noticed some bits of metal sticking out down the bore, here's one I found, this one actually broke my mirror on my new bore scope 😞 I've got my own coming out under the XT brand, much higher polishing quality, slightly bigger hop window. Just waiting for the factory to make the 6.03mm version. They sent over some 6.01mm samples. I might even have a 380mm somewhere
  22. Whilst the safest bet is to replace like for like you won't necessarily lose any power, lot of factors in play, kinda one of those things you need to experiment with.
  23. @cojkor get some pictures up of the AEG's and let us all have a look 🙂 You'd be surprised at what can be salvaged.
