Yes was thinking that with CO2 mags available for GBBR M4s they may become more usable and popular so would be a shame if they couldn't be used. Not to mention better reliability in winter.
-
Hope that doesn't stretch to a national thing? Downgraded my Cybergun Mini Uzi to 330ish and enjoy using it- but yeah most CO2 guns are too hot ootb.
-
Nice one, yeah propane literally stinks! I'm still on my first cannister so it does go a long way!
-
Maybe Jing Gong just did it as a marketing strategy, IE English sounding name would appeal more to us and Americans? Picked up their clone of the Marui M733 a few years back, not a bad gun at all for £90 at the time. (Not from JBBG though. . . . )

Max Tactical Rubber Bamboo rail covers: soft, strong, and very very. . . . .comfortable!

If you want cheapest prices you'd probably need to look to Hong Kong retailers, but for widest selection in the UK then Firesupport would probably have just about everything you need, or you could try ak2m4 on this forum, he stocks a lot of those parts, have used both and found them very good service. I would agree that you don't NEED to upgrade the gearbox, as said above unless something is amiss, and you may be better off just replacing the Hop rubber and maybe fitting a tightbore barrel, standard Marui or Madbull blue hop rubber and Madbull Black python barrel being a popular combo which should easily see your shots to 50m, even at stock fps levels . If you create a high powered monster you may find its too hot to skirmish with and not necessarily more reliable.

Same here, my son uses my rifs and no-one bats an eyelid.
-
Yes your site membership card may well have your UKARA number on it too, though not all sites necessarily give out membership cards, and retailers and most sellers will still check the database via a retailer, as it constitutes the simplest PROOF required to sell a rif. Hope you get yours sorted soon SD!
-
You won't get a UKARA card as there is no such thing, they probably meant your UKARA details will be ready to be submitted to the database following your third skirmish, the database being what retailers check to verify your defence to purchase rifs, rather than an individual ID type card. Well done and enjoy skirmishing!

Cheers gents, yes makes sense treating is as a mechanical fuse being about the cheapest part to replace if it does get stripped. I don't go for insane rates of fire or power tbh, and have never replaced a piston for the sake of it. I did wonder too if a full metal toothed piston might be noisier in operation. Anyway I shall stick with the plastic variety! Thanks for the advice.
-
Wondered what experience anyone has had using pistons with full metal teeth? I've read that they should last longer than plastic teeth ones but also if they go wrong they can cause a lot more damage to gears etc? My inclination is to stick with all plastic ones but I'm open to being converted? I realise basic ones have 1 or 3 metal teeth, some have half of them metal and others are full metal so would like to find what experiences you guys have had with them, which brands are best or should be avoided etc? Likewise are pistons completely made of aluminium any good or best avoided? Thanks for any feedback!

Absolutely! Think people forget the fun factor sometimes, well said Del Monty!

Handy if they do a CQB game at Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. . . . . . . .

VSR compatible male/male thread adaptor?
straffham replied to Fraggloid's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
King Arms do a VSR adapter, Firesupport list them but show no stock, but can see if its suitable if you go to their parts section, click advanced search for "VSR silencer adapter" (sorry my phone won't let me link directly. . . .) Other retailers may have them though! Hope this helps. -
Not seen that arrangement before, what make and gun are they from?
-
You shouldn't be paying tax on anything from Asia as UK Customs will add it on at this end irrespective, unless its a very small order or otherwise slips through the net, AFAIK.
-
God yes! I had one of those (Jaeger made them IIRC), fantastic fun, although they used a 12rd pistol style mag inside the cast mag, closed bolt blow back, awesome! Had a Bruni Desert Eagle blank firer too, seriously heavy and loud! My favourite gun back then was a Saxby Palmer Enfield no.4 air rifle, converted from a real steel one by fitting a .22 barrel inside the .303 one, had to pump up the full size cartridges with a hand pump and fit a 5.56mm NATO bullet head, load the mag and off you go , seem to remember they got banned for being too easy to convert back to a firearm in the end! As for airsoft does anyone remember the "Guntanks" that were available for a while, back in the days of gas NBB's, you could remove the gas valve, screw the hose in and pump it up for a free power supply of hand pumped compressed air! When you could buy rifs at 16 from model shops! Aaaaaaaaaahhh, no hop up and 0.12g bb's, thankfully some things have changed for the better!

Depends how fussed you are on appearance really, if you put an M4 receiver on it you will lose the iconic Vietnam old school look and end up with something of a hybrid, so may be worth searching out a G&P M16vn or M16A1 lower?
-
Yeah yours is a G&P (well the receiver is at least - its identical to one I have, down to the same serial no.). The ebay one won't suit and I wouldn't touch it tbh, looking close at the image it looks to me like the top at the back has been damaged (or even broken & repaired), and (being as its not threaded for a screw in stock tube,) the tubular extension which holds the stock tube has broken / been cut off, hence the back edge looks rough as others have said, where it should be flat, so there is nothing to keep the stock in place. Looks like a bad repaint too. Better to get a new clone M4 upper & lower for around £40 from likes of Airsoftworld, Actionhobbies etc, or another G&P (albeit £100+) from Firesupport to keep its original Vietnam looks possibly?

Yes I'd read that, will also be interested to see if it kills the 8mm bearings with the sideways torque . . . . ! Anyway its not a gun I need up and running this weekend so will enjoy experimenting and refining lol!
-
Yes, have reshimmed it and replaced the piston head, and it is improved, don't mind the "bang", but the "whirrrrr" is still there so I'm going to experiment further with a high torque motor, 100:200 helicals, Alu piston head and cylinder head and see how it goes, mainly as I enjoy playing with gearboxes . . . . . . . if it implodes I'll think again! Am I right in thinking the AoE adjustment refers to the relationship between the sector gear and the piston?
-
You hit the nail on the head Lozart I was mainly wanting a quieter gun but yeah slight rof increase would be nice, usually just slam in a bigger battery to sort that though!
-
Sounds like the trigger contact switch needs looking at then, either cleaning or replacing if arcing has eroded the contacts? I know the noise you mean, like a normal cycle slowed down about a hundred times lol!
-
Lol! So about the same as the stock set up in my Cyma M16A3 then. . . . . . .

Gun presumed dead, need some advice!
straffham replied to GREG Shooter123's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Where to start. . . . ? May be an idea to put some pics on so we can see the problems you've got? But yeah you should never have to hit it hard with anything as metal parts in particular can break under the stress.
