They know I am weak willed and are out to get me!!!

Still £60 cheaper than gunfire.pl sells just the gun and a mag isn't a bad deal considering the box and the extras. I cannot afford it though. That is one great looking box it comes in. -
BMX or mountainbike inner tube should work

Are you measuring diameter or circumference? BMX or Mountain bike would probably be best, they will start at about 3cm width when flat but should stretch a fair bit.

With all it's wooden sexiness I often wish I could afford an SRC Mp41. If there was one airsoft gun that would look good mounted on the wall this is it. I am resisting because I know this would cause me to need a German loadout. Now though I have discovered that they have gone one stage better and supplied it as a special edition in a wooden crate with extra mags, mag pouches, leather sling etc.

If you cut a piece of bicycle inner tube to fit the hand grip but leave a long tab at the bottom, you can fold the tab inside and use rubber glue forming a loop. The longer the tab the better as the tension on the inner tube will help hold it together.

Was about to suggest exactly the same. I think the fishing vest idea would be a good one too. Post apocalyptic means grabbing what you can find that suits the purpose, so any sort of shoulder bag for big items and a fishing vest would work. Jeans may not be the best thing though. Maybe cargo trousers or work trousers? Something baggy with lots of pockets.

As the OP seems to only do CQB, there is a case for getting a pistol, just not necessarily that pistol. A non blowback quiet pistol like the Mk23 socoms is probably one of the best CQB weapons available. The ASG MK23 is fairly cheap and would not break the bank allowing the purchase of an AEG after a bit more saving up. CO2 pistols are not a good idea as some sites will not allow them. Blowback pistols are great fun but are less efficient and require more maintenance. An AEG will be needed if you want to try different sites that include outdoor areas so it's a good idea to plan on getting one but if you're happy doing indoor CQB for a while a pistol should do the job. I know from experience that at the courthouse in Bristol if I really want to get kills and kick ass then the best loadout is my Mk23 socom and a couple of mags in my pockets. This gives a very light load allowing quick movement and enough accuracy to take people out along corridors and across rooms. An AEG such as an MP5 however gives a different play style where you can shoot more in order to pin people down rather than having to conserve ammo until you have a definite shot. I would suggest that for CQB it would be a good idea to plan to have both available. If you can only afford one gun, get the AEG as it will allow you to try woodland skirmishes but if you plan to get both, there is no harm with starting with a pistol. If you really like 1911's then I'm sure someone will know a good green gas powered one, my knowledge is limited to my Mk23.

DOH! Not only did I miss that it was the spelling that was wrong, I even spelled it wrong myself I thought I was being all clever and stuff -

Just to be annoying, Courts Marshal is simply the plural. Both Court Marshal or Courts Marshal would be correct as one would refer to a single trial and the other would represent the whole military judicial system. Now we just need a drumhead and volunteers for the firing squad. -
I know I still have a few bits to get but I think I just found my next loadout: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Spearhead-Militaria/WW2-AUSTRALIA-/_i.html?_fsub=3411260012&_sid=146084432&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 Aussie uniform looks cool and would give an excuse to set up a BBQ at the camp site at WW2 games Maybe after I get a Lee Enfield though.

If it's an oven cleaner, think about what ovens are made of

The law states that 2 tone is bright orange, bright green or various specific other colours. However the law doesn't state that under 18's cannot manufacture a RIF if they have a defence. As long as you have been skirmishing for a reasonable period of time and can prove it if need be, I would suggest that you may want to paint your gun.

WW2 shape maroon beret from Epic Militaria. Also bidding on a cap badge on ebay. Apparently appropriate headwear is needed for the post game piss up at WW2 events. I didn't want a Para cap badge so am going for Royal engineers. Little known fact: Royal engineers were at the Arnhem bridge and just about everywhere that airbourne troops were used. No point dropping airbourne troops to capture bridges if no-one can defuse explosives should the Germans plan to blow it up. -
Read other posts about which gun to get as a 1st gun. We tend to say 2 things: Don't buy from any site with bbguns in the name and get a G&G combat machine. Something like this: http://www.landwarriorairsoft.com/airsoft-weapons-c38/electric-rifles-c45/combat-machine-cm16-raider-l-p1481

One thing that frustrates me is that Outdoor sites all seem to operate on Sundays starting early in the morning. For example in Bristol there is Spartan operating every other Sunday and Black ops Cribbs and Portishead alternating Sundays. On Sundays it's harder to get public transport and if like me you don't get weekends off work I might be able to play on a Saturday some weeks and a Sunday on others. If I get a Saturday off it's no use to me. If I get a Sunday off I either get the choice of 2 sites (spartan and black ops cribbs) or 1 site (black ops Portishead). If it's Portishead I cannot get there very easily so I don't go. Why do sites not start after public transport starts running? Why do 2 sites close together run on the same day? Also why are there half a dozen different Kar98's available but only one viable but stupidly expensive Lee Enfield? The same applies to lots of different guns. M4 internals would fit inside HK416 externals so why do all the manufacturers not make cheap HK416's?

An MP40 would work well in CQB, it is short, has a folding stock and was basically designed for CQB. If it's your favourite gun of all time, I would suggest it would be silly not to consider it. The only downside would be lack of a torch and being stuck with just ironsights.

Look at the deals on http://www.britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk/ Go to Special offers to find complete sets of DPM or DDPM (shirt, trousers and smock) for £25. Rather than a helmet consider a boonie or bush hat, it will make you less of a target and will offer enough protection. Get either a scrim net scarf or a shemagh to protect your neck. A shemagh can be used as head and lower face protection too but won't be as good as a mesh face mask. Scrim net scarfs allow more ventilation and can also be used as a mini camo net. When it comes to face protection separate is better. This will allow you to drink etc mid game.

This is a good pistol for use at a CQB site. It is very cheap and not the most robust but it will get you kills and looks awesome. There was a whole thread devoted to MK23's recently. Do you intend to only ever do CQB or are you thinking of trying other sites for variation? If you want to do mainly CQB you cannot go wrong with an MP5, the benefit of them is that they are compact and parts are easy to get. but if you want something different then they're not going to cut it. Hmm just looking around for something that will get you noticed and found this It's got the benefit of being an M4 for ease of maintenance but looks very unusual and would be perfect for CQB. Other ideas: WW2 sub machine guns? Thompson, MP40 (Sten wouldn't work as it would need a mosfet to make it single shot) AK47 with folding stock?

New airsofter... What am I missing? What coes first?
Russe11 replied to NH Shooter's topic in General Discussion
Don't monitor spending, it will just terrify you With your budget I would suggest you might want to build up a proper loadout. Maybe think of your favourite war film and gradually acquire the gear to become someone from it? Not all at once, but choose some camo clothing that fits the look and gradually build towards it bit by bit (half the fun is building the loadout). Chest rigs are good but what if you decide to get a gun that uses different shaped mags? Find out how you play, work out what gun you want (it doesn't have to be an M4) then choose a look to go for and put some thought into which bits you need 1st. -
Make one out of bicycle inner tube?
-
Probably are cheap knock offs, but they are sold by a reputable retailer in Poland which sells all over Europe where the fps limits are higher than in the UK.

I bought my goggles from http://www.taiwangun.com/en/protective-glasses-masks I went for Desert Locusts. My thinking was that I was buying stuff there anyway and if you spend enough shipping is free. Good goggles don't always cost a fortune but make sure you buy them from a reputable airsoft retailer or look for a British standard or similar indicating a good impact rating.

links to the 2 versions may help us shed some light. A search brings up a G&G combat machine, kinda cool looking (for an M4)
-
Do you skirmish regularly there? Get a letter from your usual site to say so and book a game for just after you arrive in the UK and have the confirmation email with you. Then you don't need 2 tone as that would constitute a defence. On an MP5 handguard and stock is usual as the grip is part of the lower reciever. Just realised it's not an MP5 but same applies
