  1. So helmet paint is dry and my existing helmet net fits. It's not very stable on my head however so I may have to change the liner. It should be possible to replace the liner with a para helmet repro liner and chin strap. This will require drilling 2 holes at the back of the shell. This isn't something I will be doing straight away though as the bits needed will come to about £60. http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/leather-para-chincup-product,3183 http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/british-para-helmet-bolts-x4-product,11398 http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/british-ww2-para-liner-product,10131
  2. If you look at the Shoot'n'scoot kit form only the last few inches are inside an outer barrel. Oh and my helmet arrived It's very discoloured so I mixed up some enamel to match the few patches of green left and gave it a lick of paint. It's currently drying in my spare room.
  3. Will there now be a Youtube vid of you finishing the job?
  4. Saw this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351025256945?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Won't be able to buy it at present but interested to see what it sells for. The alternative to a Shoot'n'scoot Lee Enfield would be to fit the internals of a sniper into a Lee Enfield body. The guide I read seemed to mess it up by keeping the external barrel and involved shaving the woodwork rather thin to make it fit. Logically you only need an external barrel where the inner comes out of the woodwork.
  5. Everything hurts. 2 mile walk to the bus stop this morning to get to Black ops cribbs, plus a mile or 3 the other end searching for a working cash point, then a day airsofting, bus and 2 mile walk

I got locked out of my flat at 7 am when I walked out the door without my keys. Meant I missed a cracking day at the Sandpit, spent 3 hours walking to my landlords for keys that didn't fit, then had to spend the price of a brand new TM VSR to get a lock smith out. Pants day!

  6. I wonder how they found a huge supply of them in Holland? Strange, the BSA Para Bikes used to be common there too.
  7. Just seen this on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111184458322?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 A period accurate tent is low on my priorities atm though.
  8. I'm thinking that an alternative design for holding Vests would be to use plywood. If you use a human target as a template (blow up the picture and paste it on or paint one yourself). The benefit is that it looks less like the grave of the unknown airsofter and more like something you can use to create a shooting range when you get a chance The main beneifit is that it will have a waist and therefore can hold webbing too.
  9. The pin would be between the etool handle and the etool shovel bit so no danger. I have also found a Somerset Light Infantry re-enactors group nearby, not sure standing around at an event is for me, but could be useful group to know. I had been considering badging my battledress up as SLI as my Grandad was in it and it tells people where I'm from. BTW if anyone's interested: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WW2-British-Dispatch-Riders-Helmet-/231174155144?pt=UK_Collectables_Militaria_LE&hash=item35d30dab88 again, same shell as airbourne
  10. Looks like the graves of 2 airsofters. I might stick with a wooden coathanger. I could really use some sort of rack for my webbing though, it gets all tangled kept in a drawer.
  11. Anyone tried sticking those silly silica sachets that come packed with everything inside your goggles?
  12. The E-tool handle is 1944 dated. I will need to modify it so it can't fall out of the holder. I believe the common solution is a drawing pin pushed through from the inside of the cover. Next items on my shopping list are: Dump pouch Gas mask bag, Brodie helmet (in case I fancy a change), Bayonet (possibly the shoot and scoot rubber one) and maybe a repro airbourne helmet liner. I really want a Lee enfield now. Having played in woodland for the 1st time, I can see that it would have been awesome to have a high powered bolt action rifle. Oh and in case you haven't read the lets meet up thread, I gave up on getting ideas from people and decided I'm gunna do the WW2 game and possibly stay down Portsmouth area for a Sunday game if anyone wants to join me.
  13. If you have a spare pair of goggles in the safe zone your goggles won't mist up The basic principle is that water vapour will condense on lenses faster if there is any dirt, oil etc to act as a seed for the water droplet. So spotlessly clean lenses will fog less. Then you can use anti fog treatments which work by breaking the surface tension of the water droplets so they spread out, this will result in an initial weird rainbow effect and eventually distortion as water builds up rather than total blindness. The more ventilation your goggles have the better as this means the water vapour doesn't build up inside your goggles as fast. In fact if you have a powerful enough fan you can even reverse the fogging as it will pull dry air in and the water on your lenses can evaporate. So what you need is 2 pairs of goggles, a pair with good ventilation, very clean lenses and treated with an antifogging treatment (cat crap or washing up liquid) and a spare pair of mesh goggles in the safe zone just in case.
  14. Yay finally! ok probably not that exciting to most of you but it's the Haft or Handle for my WW2 Entrenching tool. The entrenching tool and cover came with my webbing but was missing the handle. The left hand end takes a shovel/pickaxe or at the right hand end you can fix your bayonet to create a melee weapon, mine detecting poker or more likely to cook sausages over a fire. Also just noticed an email regarding the small pack I ordered previously, they had found they didn't have any left and refunded my money so I have now ordered another from epic militaria.
  15. My thinking is that as the level of interest is this low, I am going to book onto the WW2 game. I shall find out what camping arrangements there are for the game and then look into staying in the Portsmouth area for a Sunday game somewhere (possibly Combat South). If anyone fancies trying a WW2 game, book onto it and come along and I'm sure we'll have some fun. If anyone wants to join me for a Sunday walk on game but not the WW2 game that will be cool too. If anyone knows a site open on the bank holiday Monday, it could turn into an epic and exhausting weekend
  16. OK. So we need to make a decision: Option A: WW2 game Saturday and then a walkon for Sunday. Anyone strongly against wearing a green or Khaki boiler suit and wrapping a gun in hessian should be able to find another game in the area as Portsmouth seems to have a lot of sites. Option B: Gunman milsim. This seems to be somewhat more complex in terms of kit requirements but Gunman have a reputation for doing a fun milsim. My vote is obviously for option A as I have WW2 kit and have nothing suitable for the gunman game. Also if it's sunny there are beaches nearby to go make sandcastles in the evening
  17. Yup, old russian camo, PMC or black would all be hard for me to do. I would in fact go as far as to say that the kit for this would be harder to do than the WW2 game if I was doing it from scratch. But you wanted a milsim so I found one. The other option would be find a Saturday game and a Sunday game close together and somewhere to camp or stay nearby.
  18. Found us a milsim for the original Shining light dates :)

  19. Hi guys, thanks for the mail. We have this on that weekend.http://www.gunmanforum.com/index.php?showtopic=12165 Its a full on Milsim scenario. I'm afraid we dont have any open days that weekend. Josh Gunman Sound good to you guys?
  20. Yup and the XM8 is just a G36 with a hideous body kit so it's basically a good gun internally.
  21. Just checked on the WW2 airsoft forums and it's not an airbourne helmet, its royal armoured corps. Same outer shell though so not a problem
  22. I think that trading standards would totally agree, it's hideous Oh you mean the warranty, no just means they will only deal with their legal obligations.
  23. I have emailed Gunman to see if they have anything interesting happening that weekend. I think Coventry is just one of their sites and I didn't specify location.
  24. I know, a minute later I got shot right on the nose
