Ah yes, the Kennet one. As far as I know that's still there. Red Alert in Newbury is well worth a look too, plus Strikeforce CQB in Gloucester (run by Swindon Airsoft) is good fun.

The 'What have you just bought' Thread

Couple of bits from BritTac - stealth admin pouch and a chest rig comfort pad (for the back of my SS style rig) Also just placed an order with Mael Eoin Tactical for some chest rig MOLLE extensions! -
UKARA is only there to protect the retailer. I think they'd be on a pretty sticky wicket if they ever got prosecuted for supplying illegally if their only defence was "but they said they were an airsofter". Still, that's their problem.

No, The Mall got knocked down and redeveloped. Unless you mean the place in Newbury they have (probably)? Assuming they haven't lost the lease thanks to lockdown...
-
Hi, welcome back. Zed in Reading being The Mall? Yeah, that's gone. Sorry. Where are you based?

What was the issue with the Wraith stock?

Unfortunately the lack of actual airsofting at the moment is bringing all sorts of things out into the open. Things that normally just bubble under the surface have been given the view view of the community and to be honest, a lot of it is not good.

The point I was making was that if you continue to work and put others at risk then you're being a dick. The inference that it's only poor people that do that was not mine. -

OK, this was my original point ie we'll all be able to go back airsofting at the end of March assuming enough people follow the rules. Which they won't so let's not be all shocked and upset and blame the government when plans get pushed back. OK, yes you have a very valid point. I am speaking from a position of privilege in that I am still working and can afford my bills. Yes, the government should do more to support those that need it, not just those with a low income though. Businesses need support to be able to continue employing people so they can pay the tax to pay support the lower earners. For example - the Coronavirus relief for businesses was linked to the address. Only one company can claim for that address so if you share premises you're shit out of luck if your landlord has already claimed for the property you work out of. Also - please don't assume that I was singling out the poor for being wilfully ignorant and flouting the guidance. Stupidity knows no societal bounds! -

My point is that a decision by government be it right or wrong, does not absolve people from taking personal responsibility for their actions. -

No, you're right, they shouldn't have returned to university, except there was MASSIVE public pressure to get the kids back to school and students back to Uni. If the government had insisted that actually, the students aren't allowed back until the threat of coronavirus is eliminated people would be criticising them for that too. They were allowed to go back under the prevailing guidance of mask wearing, social distancing etc. The fact that the university towns had massive spikes in infections when the students went back would suggest that those same students weren't being sufficiently careful. Now, I'm no idiot, I know that correlation isn't the same as causality but sometimes it really does match up. You know what, yes. By and large the public has behaved itself. I'm still not convinced that the general public en masse can be trusted to do the right thing all the time but there you go. That's obviously just me being cynical. Now go and wash your hands. -
Shoot and Scoot have one from a project gun that's cheaper! http://www.shootandscoot.co.uk/shop/m14-socom-muzzle/

Laylax do one but comes with the front sight post and isn't cheap https://wolfarmouries.co.uk/laylax-socom-front-sight-hider-set-for-tm-m14.html The other option might be to get a tap and recut the thread? Then you could put a new grub screw in there. Both cheaper than a new flash hider and readily available from Amazon. I can check mine and see what size the hole is if you like?

OK, we're clearly never going to agree here because what I say is evidence you don't accept. SSP is for when you are sick or self isolating due to exposure. Not just because you've had to stop working. Knowingly continuing to work while sick or after exposure to the virus is wilfully ignorant at best, regardless of who you are, how much you earn or where you live. Will it put you at a financial disadvantage? Yes, very possibly. Does continuing to work regardless of you potentially infecting others who may in fact be MORE vulnerable than you make you a dick? Yes. Yes it does. When people were allowed to meet up in groups of no more than six outside, there were plenty of examples of groups of way more than that mixing (be it playing football in the park or having parties, whatever). It happened, fact. THAT is what I mean by the fact that people won't follow the guidance if they think they can get away with it. You CANNOT blame anyone other than the individuals that choose to bend the rules to suit them. It's not the governments fault that half the people I see every day can't seem to work out that a mask is supposed to cover your nose AND mouth. It's not the governments fault that people drive too fast. It's not the governments fault that people get pissed and hurt themselves. All these things are examples where personal responsibility HAS to enter the mix. When you allow students to go back to universities, they WILL go to the bar, they WILL get pissed and the rules of social distancing WILL go out the window. Is that the governments fault? No. -

Sorry but no, it's nothing against the people of Liverpool as it happened in places all over the country. Liverpool was purely the first example that came to mind. I have no doubt that low income areas have suffered more, in large part down to population density which makes it easier for viruses to spread. Low sick pay however is only a factor if you're sick and to be quite frank, if you're sick with COVID and you choose to go to work and mix with others then you're an arse (regardless of income). You're right that in general adherence has been good - while in lockdown - but the rate of increases in cases when restrictions have been lifted demonstrate that when allowed to mix, people spread the virus. Viruses cannot spread without interaction, it's a simple biological fact. If you look at the figures in Sept/Oct in the South West for example, the hotspots were in University towns when students were told to go back. That is not a coincidence. -

While I agree that the current (and the first) lockdown have been successful due to people generally playing along, you only have to look at what happened in Liverpool when it was announced they would be coming under tighter restrictions - they all fucked off out to the pub in a show of defiance. That's what I mean by the public not behaving themselves. If you give an inch, some will take a mile and in this instance THAT is a problem. While I agree with your point that low sick pay etc means people are more willing to take risks and still go to work when they've been asked not to, the overwhelming attitude of "I'm alright, Jack" means that it's not just the low paid that take the piss. In fact, in my experience it's more likely to be the well off, entitled people that flout the rules. If shops, pubs, sporting events et al are open people WILL go even if they're asked not to if they don't HAVE to. If vaccination levels aren't sufficient then we'll see another spike because so many of the great unwashed seem to think that all of a sudden there's no virus because the high street is open. The spike in cases in September went hand in hand with a relaxation of restrictions, particularly among younger demographics and also with the new variants becoming apparent. In terms of seasonality it's too early to categorically say that it has an effect as we've not had enough repeat years with a similar pattern. That said, the restrictions, mask wearing and increased hand washing/sanitisation has brought down the incidence of flu and adenovirus so it IS working. Make no mistake, this virus isn't going away soon if ever. It has already become endemic in areas of the UK so at best it'll be a need for regular vaccination programmes like with the flu jab to try and control the overall case rates to a number deemed acceptable ie not so many that the NHS can't cope. People will still catch it, they will still get sick from it and they will still die from it. That's NO reason however to think that the vaccine is therefore pointless in any way. -

Unfortunately, despite saying that they are working by data and not dates but then throwing out actual dates the powers that be have shot themselves squarely in the foot. Come the end of next month, every swinging dick and his dog will be demanding to go the pub regardless. The numbers continuing to drop is entirely dependent upon the vast majority continuing to follow guidance, not stretch the rules to suit themselves and on vaccination uptake. If insufficient people refuse the jab on some cock and bull "ethical" objection then it won't be as effective for the community at large and we'll never get back to normal. -
Herd immunity Having a vaccine also benefits your whole community through "herd immunity". If enough people are vaccinated, it's harder for the disease to spread to those people who cannot have vaccines. For example, people who are ill or have a weakened immune system. Information: Read more about herd immunity and who it protects on the Oxford University Vaccine Knowledge Project website

So probably not because the general public can't bloody behave themselves. -
Caveat Emptor absolutely applies, it's a second hand sale so the buyer HAS to be aware that there may be some flaws not immediately visible in the advert. Is it a dick move to not say it's got a gopping paintjob? Probably, yes. Does it interfere with the function of the gun? No. As such it's fit for purpose and the paintjob only affects the potential sale value (which is probably why it didn't get mentioned but it may just be that the seller didn't think it was so bad as to be an issue). I do agree though that repainted two tones should be declared as such, but in this case as I said earlier, you can clearly see it's been repainted at some point from the advert pictures.

Taiwangun Shipping Disruption (Brexit Related Content)
Lozart replied to Speedbird_666's topic in General Discussion
It entirely depends on what it says on the CN22 customs declaration. Your order was a lot larger so I would expect higher charges but you've not said what it was or what was on the CN22. -
Honestly, it took me all of 30 secs looking at the pics to work out it had been repainted (no fire select/safety lever markings for a kick off). In an ideal world I agree that it should have been mentioned in the listing that this was previously a two tone, caveat emptor still applies. You mean £662 plus VAT, shipping and duty.
