  1. Which 416 are you looking at and will you need it two toning ?
  2. Looks like the same radio body with different accessories supplied as standard. Good radios - I have the older T8 version. Make sure they gave the rotary volume knob rather than pushbuttons and obviously avoid yellow.
  3. If you just want short range comms, go for PMR446 radios which will give you a minimum of a few hundred metres in dense woodland (worst case scenario), they dont require a licence and you have 8 channels to choose from. Headsets and PTTs are a bit more difficult as it depends on what headgear you wear and loadout etc. Choose the radio first and make sure it has a common type of socket for PTT connection. Motorola one pin is widespread. Then pick your PTT and headset with this connection. I would always spend a reasonable amount of money on the headset. A lot of people buy expensive radios and junk headsets.
  4. Yes for milsims. A small compact pocket camera usually has a very small lens so is less vulnerable. Normally just use it to take photos of evidence - at one of the Norwich Gunman day milsims a few months back, we needed to gather photos of weapons of mass destruction etc. Wouldnt get it out in the middle of a firefight.
  5. Ive got the G&P 556 on my 416. The thing to consider is how you are going to protect the front glass as they are expensive to replace, I went for the 556 because the battery space is smaller and you can get a flip down protector closer. The longer nose ones take a lot of rail space, especially if you have a magnifier behind it like I do. As a L3 EoTech clone its perfectly serviceable and reasonable quality as you would expect for the money. Mine came with a chewed up hex screw which means Ive never been able to get the outer cover off to fit a protector.
  6. There are no websites. Its all on Facebook. The community group for Okto is Okto Eight Milsim Kill Club and the Zoro one is Zoro XM Lizard Lounge.
  7. The pages are just the outward face. There are also community groups on FB which are interactive and the players have their own private team groups. People are already signed up for the Zoro game and are discussing loadouts and planning etc.
  8. Ive had the UMP for a few years (im using it in my profile pic). No technical problems, the blowback makes a great noise and it can be long or short depending what you need. I can fold the stock or remove the suppressor for close up or vehicle work. I only use a 7.4V lipo so cant comment about higher voltages. Ive only ever used the standard hi caps, so have never tried using other mags. The UMP mag is too long for lying prone and obviously you cant fire the SMG on its side in airsoft, as I might with RS. Its got plenty of rail estate for optics, torches and lasers etc. The battery goes in through a little door exposed when the stock is swung back, so no dramas there and the hop up us a slider exposed in the ejection port when you bring the bolt back. All in all, its recommended.
  9. Look up Okto Eight Milsim on Facebook. Next months is fully booked with a wait list and the one after that is April. There is also Zoro XM on FB, which is a security forces type milsim rather than armies. Next game for that is early March.
  10. When BAC launched they came up against howls of protest and abuse. Have a look at the old posts on the subject. Whatever your thoughts and airsoft politics, I thought the chance to play at different sites and keep your defence intact was a good idea especially if you only play sporadically due to finance or family commitnents. I can understand why a lot of stakeholders in the industry wouldnt like this model though.
  11. You just bolt keymod adapters on where needed. Be careful of the milsim fps thing. We organise milsims in the UK and the limit for M4s etc is 350fps. Dont get too obsessed with fps. G&G usually shoot at 320-330 fps out of the the box. If you want to do milsims, worry more about availability of mid cap mags and things like that. Do a search on Ares on here and have a read of some of the criticisms.
  12. Yes some sites charge a "membership fee" to cover admin, arranging the registration for you, signing off your paperwork etc. The UKARA registration on the database doesnt actually cost anything apart from peoples time for the process. Some sites also use a membership to keep you hooked after your three games by offering you membership incentives like game discounts etc.
  13. That would be Gunman at Tuddenham then. We are having our March Zoro crimesim there and our Okto milsim in April. Its a great site in terms of game value.
  14. I dont think its a common rifle in the UK. How did you import it without a UKARA number ?
  15. PS Ive been looking at the Pig Alpha gloves because I have big chunky operator gloves and normally use cut offs or folding mittens in the winter because I like my trigger finger free, but these look like a good compromise. Not sure Im bothered about the touch ones as Im unlikely to be using touch screens with gloves on, but the ordinary alphas look the DBs.
  16. Good video. We organise a few different milsims using PMC because you can get some interesting scenarios and an almost infinite loadout variety.
  17. Welcome to the world of airsoft and the forum.
  18. We were planning to use gas masks at our upcoming crimesim game at Tuddenham but Ive also heard that the M04 is only rated by the maker at 400fps, so I wont be risking that. Thanks for all your answers, but we will do it another way.
  19. its never too far if you drive and you really want to go.
  20. The M04 and the M50 are fitted with PC fans and the reviews that I read on Amazon etc said that fogging wasnt a big issue. The GSR is mesh so nothing to fog. What amazes me is that one reviewer says they shot the lens up close and it was no problem and another says the product is unsafe because they shot the lens and it broke. Probably different fps and ranges, but you would have thought the makers would be able to rate their products with a proper test or ballistics certification. How can you risk using one of these products if you dont know the threshold - its not worth risking your eyesight.
  21. You can use all kinds of full face masks for spraying, etc but the main issue with airsoft is the ability of the lenses to withstand a BB strike e.g. in CQB. Most masks arent designed for this.
  22. Did a search and found a couple of old topics on here on the subject. I'm thinking about using a replica gas mask for an airsoft game. There seems to be a difference of opinion about the M04 type as some people think they are fine for UK fps but then there are some You Tube videos from the US of the lens being shot out. It looks like the lens pops out on impact rather than shatters, but still undesirable as the next shot is going to go in your eye. There is also a more expensive copy of the UK GSR sold by Airsoft World and which uses mesh instead of a lens and there is the US M50 replica which seems to have a wider angle of vision than the M04 but questionable ballistic qualities on the visor. What are peoples experiences ?? I'm aware of the S10 with the ballistic over lenses but I'm not really interested in the real thing as they are very uncomfortable to wear and run around in and the S10 has a terrible field of view. Has anybody used the Airsoft M50 type which is also called the DC15 by the makers.
  23. Zoro has now introduced fingerprint recognition software for Mercury operators. Demo on the Facebook page.
