  1. Sitting Duck - from your experience and for the benefit of others, what G&G M4 models are considered technically sound ? I did look at the ETU models but struck them off the list when I read you cant use 7.4V LIPO. My son has a CM Raider XL and thats been a good rifle but again its basic mechanically.
  2. ETA - have you tried releasing the tension by moving the little slider on the top of the mag with a fingernail, emptying the BBs in the feed channel and then re-winding it ?
  3. Take it apart. At worst, you might have to buy a new mag; at best you can see how it works and you can probably fix it. Ive had problems before and it was an issue I managed to fix by disassembly and reassembly.
  4. I know there is a certain resistance to Facebook by some forum members, but Im an open dual platform kind of guy and I've started a group on FB called Milsim UK News and Events. Frustrated by some of the elitist niche groups who resist anybody not playing 36 hour games at MOD facilities and spending thousands on kit, Ive tried to make it more varied and it is open to ALL milsim organisers to advertise their events. There is also a milsim event calendar to store the dates as I keep seeing players have to ask when games are on. It doesnt cover skirmishes or secondhand sales and swaps because there are lots of groups doing that already, despite the FB ban and its also covered by forums such as this one. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1056851067708222/
  5. If you have played three games in less than two months, you just need to play a fourth game outside the two month period and you're there. The rule is designed to ensure you play a minimum of three games and the time is to make sure you are playing for more than two months. Otherwise people might do a game a week and expect UKARA after three weeks.
  6. TBH I looked at the G&G and think they have lost their way, I was originally looking for a PDW sized 5.56mm replica for vehicle use, but they only had the 100Y which although an old design has some bad design flaws or the baby M4s. The Krytac PDW at least looked fresh and there are some great PDWs to emulate. There are some great real steel stuff out there to copy but G&G seem stuck in a bit of a groove. Personally, I think their range needs pruning, keeping some of the gold classics and then adding some leading edge stuff. Also, their catalogues never seem to include their SMG range and they dont even make an MP5K.
  7. i have only Top Tech but they are three years old so are basic mechanics - no fancy gadgets. I have now bought a Krytac CRB so we will see.
  8. What about mag choices ? Ive always been restricted on my G&G rifles - what do you use on your Krytacs - can you use PMAGs
  9. Looking for an AR15 type platform as I was recently, I found myself browsing the G&G catalogue. I started to get very confused by the plethora of rifles they offer in this category. There really is a lot and they seem to crossover with their different types of functionaity. I believe that Krytec are having the success they are because their range is simple, progressive (about 4-5 models from PDW to Support Weapon in different colours) and they have concentrated on giving customers want they want. Dont get me wrong - G&G rifles are very good and they cater for all the price points, but it must be a stockists nightmare.

  11. Im pretty sure that the CRB Ive bought is a 20k motor but Im doing milsims with restricted ammo, so Im not too bothered about very high ROF. Trigger response would be nice but everythings relative and Im used to non MOSFET stock rifles so its probably already better than what Im used to. I originally wanted an OD/FG PDW and couldnt find one. After I ordered the CRB I found one at JD Airsoft.
  12. One of the things I didnt like about the Krytac is that it comes with a plastic flash hider which I believe is secured by a recessed grub screw and glue. Have asked the shop tech to remove it for me and fit a standard 14mm metal flash hider.
  13. I ended up going the other way. Started off looking at the PDW but ended up with the longer CRB.
  14. Ive just ordered a Mk1 CRB. Krytac also launched the Mk2 version of their guns at the Shot Show. A lot of UK retailers are currently out of stock awaiting the Mk2 which has a spring decompression feature, probably using the forward assist like other makes, a better pistol grip and a billet type receiver which is much sharper than the Mk1. Stock should be coming in over the next few months.
  15. The other thing to consider is that the very basic G&G rifles are polymer plastic although its very good quality. The rifles are substantially lighter than the real thing which might lack realism but is a blessing when you have to carry it around all day. Personally Im a masochist so like heavy, metal rifles. The main diffrentiator for me is that the bolt catch doesnt work on the cheaper models. On dearer rifles, the mechanism locks back on the last round and you have to change mags, release the bolt catch and let the bolt return home (which would chamber the first round on a fresh mag) on the real thing. Although these are all toy guns, some work more realistically than others. I also like the blowback action available on some makes as you get some feedback when firing.
  16. They are all 6mm size and the weight varies from 0.2g upwards. I tend to use .2 and .25g in assault rifles. Make of rifle is not relevant. The hop is a tip of rubber that protrudes down into the path of the BB as it is propelled out. This creates a spin which affects the trajectory. If you adjust the amount of protrusion (hop) optimally, you will get the longest range before the BB drops. Most rifles, you have a little wheel under the ejector port cover whuch allows you to adjust the amount of hop to be applied.
  17. The site limits are only a maximum for safety/insurance purposes. Some sites wont let you use the weapon if its just a little over, so its good to have a little headroom for ambiguities.
  18. Krytac are bringing out a Mk2 gun with UK deliveries shortly. I cant wait because Im impetuous and have ordered a Mk1 CRB for under £300. G&G have some seriously good M4s for £250-300
  19. First rule: Everybody is biased. Trust no one individual. Many retailers are heavily biased. Ive never had an ICS so Im heavily biased against them, but I've handled a couple and not been overly impressed. I have a lot of G&G and have been impressed, so I would recommend their starter gun range. I wouldnt recommend ARES based on what Ive read on this forum. Read the comments on here - there are some good newbie articles and once you have a gun in mind, watch all the You Tube reviews on it. YT has taught me some interesting things about airsoft rifles I was considering.

  21. Having done some research since rather than swop sarcasm and put downs, Ive discovered for myself that Krytac is part of KRISS and that there is some plan to bring out a Krytac airsoft version of the .45 ACP vector. Ive also found that the PDW looks very similar to the LWRC IC-PDW. Live and learn. I shall probably get one now. :-p
  22. FWIW I think some people take it far too seriously. Im an old bastard and have seen a lot of forums in my time. The thing they all have in common is that people get wound up about the silliest things and in the end, it doesnt make a slight bit of difference to the price of fish. Inevitably, you get about half a dozen people who are always "on". Sometimes their experience in a given subject can enrich a forum and sometimes that can turn to ego and arrogance and the need to comment on just about everything and it can put people off. As I saw somewhere today, dont take life too seriously. Its not as if any of us are getting out alive. IMHO forums are like lucky dips - best dip in quickly and occasionally. Stay too long or too often and your fingers get covered in sherbet. The acid test is: does it answer your question when you need advice and guidance.
  23. No not really if you want to skirmish it rather than plinking in the garden. Have a read of this: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/17294-ians-guide-to-noobism-on-a-tight-budget/
  24. Welcome to the forum. There are some good sites in Essex. I tend to play more in Hertfordshire or up the M11 into Suffolk these days as I live over in West Essex but Billericay is supposed to be good and AWA at Sawbridgeworth is quite a good day out if you just want to shoot. There are some good sites in Kent, but I cant be arsed with the M25 and Dartford Bridge/Tunnel as its a bit hit and miss at weekends, especially in summer.
