  1. The metal used in the production of that gun will be crappy pot metal, very brittle and liable to snap easily. You can get a G&G Combat machine M4 for under £130 in some places and the plastic used in it is some of the best. It'll be stronger than Cyma's metals any day. As for internals, Cyma guns tent to shoot too hot for a lot of sites so they'll need downgrading out of the box. G&G CM M4s shoot around 330 FPS +/- 5 FPS, so they're perfect for CQB places that have a tolerance and any woodland site.
  2. Yup. Most dedicated DMR platforms will be pretty expense, and upgrades will be pricy. If you want to do a DMR platform with anything 7.62 based have a look at G&P M14s. The latest batch have the nice non-standard body kits as stock and some come with G&P optical sights if you want to spare the expense of buying separately. As they're M14s they have a Ver. 7 gearbox, which are supposed to be pretty easy to work on. They also have the advantage of the real steel weapon having served as a DMR for around 20 or more years in the US army, and even more in other services over there. Only problem I see practically is mag availability and expense. Pouches aren't too difficult to find- WAS do some decent 7.62 pouches and BulleUK do some as well for slightly cheaper. If you're concerned with M14 mags though, maybe you could convert an M16 to DMR standard? external work would only include adding a full length RIS and removing front sight, as well as buying either some Vietnam style short STANAG or some short Magpul magazines. As well as this I'd look into optical systems like Elcans or the Spectre DR, as they fit in with the current sort of kit soldiers are being issued and using. Plus IMO M14s and dedicated sniper rifles look best with traditional optical sights. As for upgrades, you'd be looking at these parts and changes: MOSFET to allow high voltage LiPos for better trigger response 16AWG low resistance gearbox wiring SHS 16:1 gears A Lonex neodymium motor or branded high torque motor Improved cylinder with better air nozzle Firefly hop rubber with H-nub tightbore barrel- either Prometheus or LayLax As well as this you'd have to lock any guns with an automatic firing capability to semi automatic. Other members may be able to help you better with upgrades, I'm fairly clueless when it comes to which brands are best for upgrades and what upgrades to actually do One last thing; I've heard of G&G M14s having ridiculous muzzle velocities out of the box on 0.20s. If you could find one of these and stick a tightbore in it you'd be golden.
  3. You've got to watch out for those bags, a mate of mine had one in fake multicam and the stitching went after a week of exposure to loads and the elements. I'm sure it's OK for airsoft though
  4. I have a cheapo Swiss Arms full length nylon gun bag which I carry BBs, mags, radios etc in. I also have a 20L Multicam Marauder backpack which I fill with food, water, safety equipment, recon fleeced hoodie if it gets cold, gas (I don't put the cans in my gun bag in case they get damaged by shifting rifles). Depending on which rig I'm using I'll either chuck it in my day sack or carry it.
  5. Ahhhh of course, fuck google images for bringing that up when I searched for MTP
  6. You've confused me there mate.... MTP stands for Multi Terrain Pattern, and PCS is Personal Clothing System. MTP is an arid pattern, for operations in the Middle East where Woodland DPM is too dark and Desert DPM is too light for effective use. This is basically MTP:
  7. I was in my smock all of last weekend out on exercise, and believe me, you'll sweat buckets. Are you still in CS'95 kit? If you have the new MTP PCS stuff just wear the shirt, it's lightweight and the guys out in the middle east wear it or a UBACS during the day. If not, don't worry about a '95 shirt- just wear either one of the Coolmax brown t-shirts or a unit/company green t-shirt. If the weather this weekend is how it was yesterday you'll bake. Aside from that, sounds like you're pretty kitted already. One bit of advice though; when you can afford it, dump the webbing for a lighter MOLLE rig. PLCE is heavy and bulky enough without a load in it. It's also nowhere near as modular as MOLLE.
  8. What did you expect? It's one of the most niche AEGs on the market, and they don't have a great reputation performance wise either
  9. My favourite knife by far. Amazing for utility usage
  10. Sadly it does- I think you can get them custom made without the lock. Might be a little more expensive than the standard RRP
  11. Some of these rebels were originally doctors and engineers, some with degrees. You'd think they'd have done that!
  12. I love my little Gerber STL 2.5. 420HC Stainless steel construction with a black titanium finish. 2.6" fine edged drop point blade. Light as 2 light things. Other than that, I really like my original Leatherman PST. It's 13 years old and is spartan in features compared to the newer models like the Wave. Sadly it's discontinued, so I think you'd really like a Freestyle. All it has is a clip point partly serrated fine edge knife and pliers with wire cutters built in.
  13. After a little research, I've found a website for the FCSA UK (Fifty Calibre Shooters Association UK) and they run events on anti-tank ranges and 'Field Firing Areas' and are licensed to do these events in Warcopp (Cumbria), Sennybridge (Powys), Radnor (Powys), Lydd, Robin's Lodge (Thetford). Most of these ranges can do up to 40mm shooting. I don't think the .50cal rifles are section 5, the armour piercing and explosive .50 ammunition is
  14. I think Lozart has had experience with it. Either that or he does custom painting
  15. A G&P SR-25 is 5.576KG........the MK23 is 4.620KG, it's not too much of a difference Maps are played on video games It means 'no shooty when walky'
  16. Run and gun with an LMG? U srs? Most sites have a 'not emplaced? Don't fire' rule with LMGs anyway.
  17. Came back from exercise with 45 packets of issue energy drink powder. Now for the Cadet Moonshine!

What you want, is to heat some water before stag and drop either the cherry or tropical into a flask. Crack that bad boy open half way through your stag and the sugary steam alone will keep you awake for hours. Its a beautiful moment.

  18. There's actually a practical use for that kind of face paint- as well as being Rambo-y it stops sunlight reflecting off your cheeks and into your eyes
  19. I do a lot of stuff with the Army Cadets, I'm involved a little with recruit guidance and passing knowledge on as I've been in about 2.5 years- which is a long time when people are always coming and going. I also dabble a little in video gaming, nothing major like a £1000+ gaming PC though. Aside from that I haven't found much time outside of school for stuff. I'll probably pick a hobby up and have a go over the summer, however all my funds go towards gear and parts for my guns.
  20. Welcome to the forums man, always good to have someone with real life experience on board!
  21. Fellow Hampshire airsofter here. I'm closer to Winchester than you but we might still meet at a skirmish Welcome to the forums man
  22. You don't see mini MAVs a lot- as well as my Condor rig and my Bulle rig
  23. I know they're not hipster, I meant I use uncommon gear
  24. I may as well do a list of my current loadouts: Full OD Close Protection style lightweight loadout MTP/Multicam infantry loadout CB/Tan PMC medium weight loadout Loadouts I have planned: USMC Support gunner (possibly with a CIRAS style PC and M249/M60E4) Eastern Block urban marksman; will put together when I have enough for an RS SVD/when the G&G VSS comes out Jungle Guerilla style- mixture of olive green and Tigerstripe or US Woodland + CYMA 048 AK and either a bandolier or Chicom rig
