Having driven up to Keele on Friday evening to collect my son from University and driven back down on Saturday, including a diversion to our favourite surplus shop, my son and I decided that a trip to Dragon's Lair would be a good way to spend today. For those who do not know Dragon's Lair, it is a small woodland site in Essex; the terrain is undulating, with a village, a fort, lots of small structures and, as of a few weeks ago, a CQB labyrinth. It has a good safe zone with free tea and coffee and a small shop run by Airsoft Zone. The site is run in a friendly and relaxed manner and the marshalling is pretty much on point. We play there a few times a year as we like to play at a variety of sites in Kent and Sussex. Today, there were around 90 players, with about 12-15 being rentals. Despite the small size of the site, it did not seem crowded; strangely it never does. As usual, the games were simple, but provided some really great gameplay, with good hit taking and good sportsmanship on both sides. It was a really fun day of what a friend once described as "good, old fashioned, dumb airsoft". There were no high tech props, no vehicles, no gimmicks; just a bunch of like minded folk thoroughly enjoying shooting each other and getting shot, although being shot in the head from about 1m by one of my own team was not the most enjoyable part of the day. As to the CQB labyrinth, I cannot really comment as it is not my thing, so I did not go into it; my son seemed to take up residence there and enjoyed it. After a rather "meh" experience a couple of weeks ago at a site I really used to like, this was a refreshing change. We drove home feeling very satisfied with our day out.

I wouldn't go near a PicoSSR3; they seem to have a rather high failure rate.

Apart from items that are out of stock sometimes being shown as in stock, no problems. They always seem to manage to get hold of stuff that I cannot find anywhere else.

They are great light boots. I wear them as my everyday shoes, unless I am wearing a suit, in which case I wear black Iturri patrol boots. However, I am not sure I would rely on either of them for airsoft, mainly because I tore my Achilles' tendon on Dartmoor last summer and prefer something more solid now. Since the Achilles incident, my go to boots for serious walking, such as a week on Dartmoor, are Iturri cold wet weather boots; they are utterly solid and extremely comfortable, although you do need to buy a size larger than you usually take. For airsoft, I am currently wavering between the Iturri CWW boots and Bundeswehr issue Haix Commander GTX. Both are available for about £50-£60 on eBay.

I cannot see any issue with switching to 16:1; the difference in speed and response is relatively small but noticeable. If you really want to go for a very fast response, pre-cocking might be the answer.

I suspect that you have a very strong spring in there as, if you are in the UK, you are over the legal limit. Changing to a lighter spring to get the FPS down to about 330 fps on a 0.20g will help the RoF. 16:1 gears should not be too much for any build. Depending on the battery space, maybe consider running it on a 9.9v LiFe battery for snappiness and speed.

That is my guess as well; however, a great site has to have more than great terrain and props. Driver Wood does seem to have a poor reputation for marshalling and players.

It sounds like it was a poorly marshalled shit show, with a few people who should have been told to leave and never come back. I am not sure how that relates to it being a great site. My eldest went there a while ago and would never go back.

Measure the screw and buy a new one. Buy a replacement QC spring guide; this one will probably fit: https://www.zerooneairsoft.com/products/Zero-One-Stainless-Steel-Spring-Guide-for-QD-Gearbox. If it has 4 lugs rather than the two you need, you can remove two of them.
