  1. You're right, but realistically speaking the things are one in the same if you're under 18 as parents would be likely buying it anyway.
  2. You've already opened a new thread and now you're posting here again? Please have some patience - people do other things besides visit the forums.
  3. Same as all IFs and RIFs - cannot be owned if you're under the age of 18, though you can get your parent to buy one for you as you say.
  4. Er, what's your point? You've just said you have no alternative if you can't rent. A lot of people buy new furniture that isn't painted - i.e. new handguard and stock (not more than £50) or use the power spray. Again, it does work even with Krylon 2-tone jobs, but it takes a long time and a lot of people just give up or complain that it's not working.
  5. Power Spray always works, but it's painfully slow. A lot of people end up buying new furniture when they get their site membership, but there's no way around it in your situation.
  6. They work a lot better than the fibre optic ones (which get crap reviews even on the real steel things too). The G&P ones use two LR44s - buy a pack of a decent-ish brand from eBay. They're about £3 for six delivered.
  7. That's a bit harsh - I've yet to meet a milsim player who's ever tried to pretend (outside of their games) that they're something they're not. I do find it hilarious that anyone can spend so much on a pair of trousers or look at a £500 plate carrier and think 'yep, I need this over a £80 replica' regardless of their income, but if that's their way of finding enjoyment then I can see why and certainly wouldn't hate them for it. I mean there are plenty of people who just go to normal skirmishes who spend excessive amounts on gear but I think we're all just pointing fun at an unrealistic stereotype that's not conducive to the majority number of milsimmers. It's all toy guns in the end.
  8. Rainier Arms Raptor? I have the same on my M4 - great charging handle.
  9. That and MOSCARTs are kinda crap and a lot of work to keep free. That's why the Marui one is a good idea for many people as the gas is stored in the launcher, not the grenades. A lot of fun, but £200 fun? Na.
  10. Yep, I believe this thread to be in good faith and poking fun at those with a little more money than sense. It's not my cup of tea but I'd hate to tar all of milsim with the same brush.
  11. Don't even get me started on the costs of some plate carriers and helmets. Some people need other things to spend their money on, heh.
  12. Yep - it's insane. Don't use in stock TM pistols.
  13. If your trousers cost more than your gun then you're probably playing milsim.
  14. As said above. A G&G CM16 is the cheapest rifle you can get - anything cheaper is not worth having. Get two tone, maybe some camo tape to conceal it for your first couple of games and then remove paint with Fairy power spray or switch out the furniture with some that hasn't been painted.
  15. I've really not seen anything to prove it performs any better than say Guarder Powerful at those temperatures. I tried to run my M4 at the start of this year and it was pretty horrible - it has a fully steel bolt and it's the WA system so it's not the most innovative thing ever, but I can say that the Powerful gas did perform better than the 3.0 (don't think their 4.0 stuff was available at the time). I mean Smart Gas sells itself as being a 'low temperature gas' on the can, but it's sure as hell not close to Nuprol 3.0 or Guarder Powerful in terms of power. The bit about it working between 3-10 degrees isn't backed up by anything but the claim on their can and Facebook page. As far as I can tell the Guarder Powerful stuff is just that - more powerful and the larger cans are compressed even more. Although this probably isn't that case for you, it does disappoint me that Nuprol's very basic advertising pitch has been eaten up so readily by so many people. We've seen their BBs are naff yet people still buy them, and I don't think their regular gas has ever been any better than, say, Abbey Ultra.
  16. Anything above Nuprol '2.0 is extremely overpriced though. That 4.0 is what £20 a can? That's more than Guarder Powerful and that stuff is most certainly harder kicking that Nuprol.
  17. I didn't even read that sentence - that was dumb, sorry OP. Ignore my recommendation.
  18. 'Cheap and good' - that's what literally everyone is after, heh. Don't get cheap Bulldogs, they're utter shite. Take the advice - don't go too cheap when it comes to BBs or you'll do damage elsewhere. Look to spend around £2 per 1000 (for 0.2g) and no less or you're probably not getting anything any good, though I'd recommend spending more unless you're a high-cap hero. I know plenty would recommend ASG Blasters and G&G stuff - they're not expensive either. Nuprol can be a bit hit-and-miss as some people have received bad batches so I'd avoid despite the fact that they're very quick and easy to buy what with every retailer stocking them these days for some reason. If you're indoor then don't bother with biodegradable unless your site requires you to as they are generally more money and pointless. Outdoor I'd be responsible and use them, but that's your choice (or the site's, as it may be). I'd recommend Green Devil or BioSphere.
  19. G&P do both standalone and rail/barrel mounted. AFAIK, they have the biggest selection out of any of the manufacturers when it comes to grenade launchers: http://www.gp-web.com/en/products.php?did=GPWEB&cid=GP_AIR&bid=GP_GRE&cp=1
  20. I had this issue when I had to leave my stock behind when I moved and was really lucky in finding a broken one (an L96 that is) in the classifieds section of Zero In after posting a 'wanted' thread there. Took a month of bumping though. I went to a lot of retailers too before that but turned up nothing. Even tried some US sites where they have a lot of broken stock and they said the L96 stuff goes really quickly when it's on sale in their 'boneyards'. If it's fixable, try products from Plastic Paddding - the Gelcoat Filler I have is basically liquid plastic and is super hard wearing but also sand-able plus it bonds to what you stick it on. May be worth a go.
  21. Er, screw it on? It's a CW thread on a G&P so bear that in mind. It's not a quick detach suppressor so you will need to remove the flash hider first then screw it on. Edit It's a bit unique in that you can use it with a tracer unit. As such, the cap comes off (the threaded cap) so make sure that's on there first so that you can actually screw the barrel into something.
  22. Did. Moved a couple of months ago, but know there are certainly some others on here that do play there. Thing about the short dot is that the eye relief (although good if you spend enough) isn't as good as a holographic (even a cheap holographic). For indoor stuff and up close it's going to be outmatched a lot as it takes longer to acquire a target with, and will probably look a bit silly on a standard AEG too. Also, they're heavy and not all that cheap. My VisionKing one was ~£75 after shipping, so it's a lot for an optic. Or maybe you weren't talking about that at all and meant the red dot sights but got confused. The naming is a little silly - the short dot is essentially a midranged scope, whereas a red dot is one of those floating dot sights like an M2. I'd recommend either a red dot or a holographic sight. I've owned one of the G&P red dots and it was good, but I've never owned one of the holographic type ones so maybe someone that's owned both a red dot and a holographic can shed some light on this. In summary: Unless you're using a true DMR or have a really, really open field I'd go with a red dot or holographic. Don't bother with magnification as you'll spend a lot more, it'll look silly on a short barrel and it won't be as effective in the majority of scenarios. Just to avoid confusion: VisonKing 'short dot' style (1.25-5x32) G&P red dot - aka CompM2 knock-off (no magnification)
