  1. In all seriousness we basically open the floor to letting new Supporters in now and again but it's a decision made by all existing supporters. Generally if you post frequently and with entertaining or informative content you'll find yourself becoming a Supporter after not too long. A target number of Supporters is 2% of our total regular membership (i.e. people who have visited in the last year). If you've not visited the forums for a year as a Supporter you're not counted in this number. Basically it caps us at a certain number of highly active members so it's a genuine recognition of those who make the forums worth visiting. In many ways they are the reason why our forums have done so well since their inception. There are a couple more requirements too but these are a bit of a secret. It used to be that you could buy your way in, but not any more.
  2. Buying a patch doesn't make you a supporter. You have to be invited and shown the secret handshake that Rogerborg has already given too much away of. As soon as we reach a quorum he's on his way out.
  3. as a consequence of your mods bringing this to my attention: Number of ads per week reduced to 10 from 14. Believe me, getting free money for hosting is always a plus but one has to consider that the Classifieds are a way of on-boarding new members who head over to the forums and have a discussion, not as a way to make money. We've spent all this time discussing people spamming the Classifieds only to let retailers pay their way in? Seems a little silly, but I understand your point. The return to the forum is - as mentioned - the fact that we are one of the premier places to list airsoft goods (and buy them). This attracts new traffic to the site (a fraction of which might stick around). In terms of making this a paid service and the logistics of that, it's actually not too difficult. IPB already has ways of letting you pay your way into a group and from there it's just a case of restricting posts per group (something we already do, because Supporters can list an unlimited number of ads per week). If you're a supporter, please go here to discuss further. The only way to 'bump' is to relist your ad after it expires.
  4. There might have been a time when that was true, but probably not anymore I'm afraid. I'm a bit out of the loop on the latest goings-on. However for this question: SDiK is quite nice, Bolt is marginally more competitive (shorter, lighter bolt cycling). I would go with the SDiK if you don't mind the fact that it shoots a little slower (is this even a problem for such a gun?) and a tiny bit louder. Just make sure you use good quality pneumatic line and not some thin-walled stuff for fish tanks, or it will explode (not dangerously, but annoyingly). I've shot the Bolt and owned two of the SDiK. Both will accept a CO2 bulb (if that's your jam later on), but the Bolt needs space for a battery (not a big deal in a VSR, but check how much room you have in the stock for a CO2 adapter and battery if you're using the M40. I'm sure a million people have already done this. The Mancraft HRR looks great (again if you want that lightweight CO2) but I've never touched one. Can order directly from Mancraft if you want to by the way. I agree with @EvilMonkee though - you will be stripping out a major part of a nice gun. This is a better operation to do on a cheap body, then upgrade the hop and barrel accordingly (consistent power source, good hop unit and a nice barrel finish are the holy trinity of getting a really nice firing airsoft gun of any kind, but so much more so in a sniper rifle). If you can find a donor gun for a reasonably amount of money, you should do that and even consider selling the TM. They are nice guns out of the box, but if you're going to the effort of moving to HPA and really want the best of the best, even a well adjusted TM hop and barrel probably won't do that in a sniper rifle. All of this is eclipsed by the fact that if this is your first BASR, you should get used to using it normally for a few months or a year first anyway. I don't know how much you've played so I might be stating the obvious but sniping gameplay is a lot different to anything else and you will have to do a lot of your own fiddling around with any sniper rifle to get it shooting in that top percentile (really the only justification for stripping it out and going with HPA in the first place). If you're not up for replacing the hop unit, barrel (and spacers, maybe a trigger etc.) it's not worth doing. Changing the power source alone won't get it shooting much better.
  5. vB has been shit for quite some time. Hope they get it back up and running. Who're we the rivals of, Albiscuit? I can't imagine we're on ZeroIn's radar and they certainly aren't on mine (for one).
  6. The colours on all these links have now changed because it was causing problems in the text entry areas (such as composing a topic or reply). The style for these areas is inherited from the same colours set for any link on the website that isn't explicitly a menu item or something really important. So now the two different shades of blue will be present on the dark theme too (identical to the light). Hopefully this the secondary effect of making read topics more obvious.
  7. If you want your feedback back, send me a PM and I'll migrate it for you.
  8. Staff list is under Forums -> Staff: https://airsoft-forums.uk/staff/
  9. I found normal pick n' pluck was great when treated with a couple of layers of spray viny afterwards.
  10. Ok to be clear, in your initial post were you talking about emails or notifications in under the bell icon?
  11. Moved to Forum Feedback Probably not right now I'm afraid. I will see how easy it is to do, however.
  12. Use https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/ Would recommend a far cheaper setup than that which Jedi has posted. You will never use most of the features of a board that costs more than 150 quid. Spending a lot of money on a good motherboard isn't really worth it unless you have some specific additional needs in mind for connectivity or running many expansion cards etc. If you're using a single graphics card (which you really should be if you don't have more than a single 4K monitor) then almost any Z490 type motherboard is fine. MSI are my go-to pick but it won't really matter which you buy. Don't get a MicroATX as you will pay a slight premium for it being smaller and probably loose some connectivity too. Plain old ATX is the best value. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/#c=143 My recommendation would be the MSI MPG Z490 GAMING PLUS because it's from a reputable brand and is the cheapest. I am assuming that you don't need WiFi built in. For RAM: All of these boards will support ridiculous RAM clock speeds. I'm just going to pick you something with a decent response time and from a good brand. Anything over 3000mHz is fine. Realistically you will never notice the latency or clock speed on RAM for general/gaming applications anyway. My recommendation would be two of these sticks: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/QBrYcf/kingston-hyperx-fury-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3200-memory-hx432c16fb3k216 You don't need more than 32gb for general or gaming purposes. If you do a lot of design work maybe consider 64gb. On the note of LEDs: Just completely ignore LEDs and order what has the best specs. LEDs or not. Better value usually means not having to deal with needless lights though, even from brands like MSI, Gigabyte, Asus etc. who will certainly offer RGB on their worse value boards and RAM. Also you can now buy a properly soundproofed case
  13. Strange indeed. I was fiddling with this setting the other day along with the emails (ironically to reduce the number of emails we send) so I'll check it out. Sorry that this is happening. Edit Changed some more things but I couldn't see anything obvious. The notification options are somewhat ambiguously worded in the back-end but almost all of them are set to never send emails (as was the aim of my original edits a few days ago) so this still strikes me as weird.
  14. Are you able to do so here? https://airsoft-forums.uk/notifications/options/
  15. MP7 mag taps are simple really - just look up TM mag taps and buy a few. Use a pneumatic thread sealant and replace the normal fill valves with them. Totally non-destructive modification.
  16. I'll continue to reduce it on the advice of the moderation team. This was actually proposed by them a little while ago so you have them to thank and me to scorn for being too busy to action it properly.
  17. I actually don't know how that works, so the proof will have to be in the tasting.
  18. Max adverts now at 14 per week down from 10 per day.
  19. Can you confirm if this is still happening for you or not? I was fiddling with various things throughout the early to mid afternoon and it may have affected PMs during this time.
  20. I'm sad. I put real information in that thread
  21. I agree that the longer you wait, the less likely you are to make a poor purchase when you start.
  22. Most dark modes use black and white, not dark blue and white. I might try both. By the way, the light theme will always stay default (if that was the worry).
  23. Likewise I think a few of the buttons are still showing in a light grey/white, which needs fixing. I'll do another pass on it this weekend and then we'll announce it. If anyone else has some feedback for me please let me know
  24. How are we getting on with this? Has anyone noticed any issues with the template or is this good to go out of 'testing'?
  25. This is fixed. I have rolled back any edits that I made to the Classifieds too (though most of these are minor and indistinguishable). I will slowly add these back over the coming days, so don't be alarmed if the Classifieds look a tiny bit different in places for a short while.
