  1. The page load times is concerning, but I haven't noticed a difference in testing. I'll report back later today after I've done some proper metrics.
  2. Based on the feedback so far: Not enough by half. I'll run a poll when it's done and see if I can get a real feel on how annoying it is.
  3. If this is the case and there are margins showing on mobile that can be tapped I will fix that. It shouldn't be happening. Shouldn't be the case - the background is ~350kb. I'll check.
  4. They've provided an English one. I was just too slow to upload it.
  5. The hotspot areas should only be in the margins. I have excluded them from the sides of the forums. I was pretty concerned about this being the case on mobile, so there should be no margins there at all. Is this not the case? Agreed on the central portion. Honestly wasn't expecting something so verbose right in the middle of the screen. If it were done again I think I'd have this area excluded entirely.
  6. There shouldn't be two banners in the header though (fixed) and there's now a slight white overlay on the light theme (dark on the dark) to assist with reading stuff. They've bought out the background for a week. Mostly a test at this point.
  7. I have had deliveries to work delayed by 2 weeks more than I'd typically expect last year (and this was on trivial stuff). Even after the customs charges were paid it could take a week of rescheduling. UPS have been the worst but I can't really blame them too much as this is brexit shit. Sit tight and you'll get it, but it will be slow. Where was it last located? Many from Poland get precleared.
  8. Another vote for the Motorola ones. Shame they charge you a premium for not having a bright orange one but there you go.
  9. To what end though? There's no post restriction for contacting sellers - the restriction is on content per day. If you spam status updates and posts then you're going to have a tough time doing stuff that you actually need to (at least for your first 10 days). There's a huge warning about this in the header if you're a new user. As far as post padding goes: This is done by such a tiny minority of people that I'm not sure it matters. Report people who are taking the piss after their first 10 days though perhaps I've sent you a PM about this. Apologies for the hassle.
  10. Not to mention that pretty much every courier (including Royal Mail) charges a service fee for prepaying your VAT and passing it through their network to get it to you as quickly as possible. On something like that I believe it's around £13.
  11. From what I recall from my times fucking with Marui glocks, check you've not lost the tiny spring that goes in the selector itself. If the spring is crimped that can cause a lot of issues, and this happened to me a few times on reassembly. Basically take it apart and put it back together again is worth a go most of the time anyway.
  12. Send me a PM with a screenshot of your problem if possible and I'll check for you. Thanks!
  13. The issue with this is that those retailers have to be registered with HMRC. Many can't be arsed so have simply said no to UK buyers. Maybe this will change in the long term but more likely there will be small places that will just decide the relatively tiny market of the UK isn't worth the paperwork. I hope that the law changes because this level of friction will be enough that only large businesses (with structures in place to bother with another set of foreign paper work) will bother with direct to consumer UK trade. If you think that's a good thing then you're beyond help. Edit: basically what EDCase said.
  14. This is called populism and it historically rarely ends well. Distilling down political aims and social values to the point that you can condense them into the perspectives of a single person. When you start missing the nuance you're in for a bad time. There's at least one person in this very thread who looks to have spent a little bit too much time on the internet last year.
  15. Because despite all their outrage at Facebook's content policies and general social statements, it's far too robust for many not to build their online lives around. There are people on there out of necessity but there are a lot more who are in denial about Facebook's value to them. If you're ostensibly "only on there to keep in touch with auntie dorris" then why are you active in 30 different hobbiest groups? It goes without saying that they are very welcome here and many of our best posters also post on FB groups, but don't expect a sudden surge of people opting out of Facebook and signing up to forums. The kinds of people who browse both have already been here for some time.
  16. Liberalism in the American sense I assume you mean then, because in the classical sense liberalism is almost entirely about the right to self-determination. It's not a dirty word unless you don't really know what it means.
  17. All I'll say is that you should all be looking into the trigger more than anything else. As much as I liked the v1 and as easy as it was to install, it had one of the worst triggers I've put in a DMR. It's not that bad vs. the whole pack (and was of course more responsive than most AEGs) but it was a bit spongy.
  18. Important stuff in bold. Message and content allowances for new accounts Following a large recent spam wave (where numerous bot accounts circumvented our captcha and anti-flood restrictions by posting as legitimate sign-ups), steps need to be taken to limit the amount of spam that a single account can conduct before being found and closed down. Currently there are few restrictions on how many messages you can send as a new member. As a new member, you can have up to 250 total conversations with 8 total recipients in each. Meaning that - with the right script - you could send as many as 2,000 notifications every 15 minutes to users of the forums. This happened last night with approximately 50 new accounts, so you can imagine it was putting quite a strain on the webserver (not to mention the illicit spam being sent out to legitimate forum users). As of last night (06/12/20): when signing up you will only be able to have a total of 10 conversations with up to 4 recipients in each as well as only being able to make 10 posts or comments a day. After one week this restriction will automatically lift. If you are reading this post as an existing member who signed up before last night, your account will not be affected by this change (even if you only signed up two days ago). We do not wish to discourage new sign-ups by not allowing them to communicate with sellers on the Classifieds (our main source of new members) or preventing them from participating in discourse at all. This restriction is only present to restrict the amount of spam that might flood the website at one time so that moderators have a chance to react and shut it down. Increased bot protection A simple tweak to our 'security level' in Cloudflare* means that you may be presented with an access challenge (basically another captcha) to check that you aren't a bot. Although we already use invisible reCAPTCHA on our sign-up form, don't be surprised to see this new Cloudflare captcha for a few days as it learns to 'trust' your device/browser (for most of you, you'll see nothing). Thanks. *a service that this website uses to mitigate Denial of Service attacks and to save data by caching certain forum pages
  19. Daytona if you have the money. They are much more user friendly these days too.
  20. So you're saying that the dialogue box is annoying?
  21. Can you show me please? That sounds shitty.
  22. Many notifications have been disabled because a lot of emails were being sent by the site that people were just marking 'spam' (because they couldn't be arsed to turn them of), which resulted in us getting blacklisted in a bunch of places. I'm afraid that the questions and status update notifications may have been a casualty of this change. Is the problem with them appearing on the site/in your feed (i.e. at the top right) or were you specifically looking to get an email?
  23. For anyone in the future looking to have their account deleted: PM me and I'll do it within 30 days.
