  1. She's not called Delilah by any chance?
  2. Yeah, let's raise a glass to the real heroes: those who didn't make it home from Back Garedn...
  3. Cut the stickers out yourself? What age group is it for? For ages 8-10 - Do not use scissors without permission of parent or guardian...?
  4. Yeah tbh, apart from a tiny AAA Maglite, I don't have any 'normal (by which i take it you mean with an incandescant bulb?)' torches - i've been using LED ones for years. Having built a 'firefly' type flashing IR LED unit, I have doubts about the power output, but I spose there must be better IR sources and somebody must still be making 'normal' torches... The rating on the IR laser module I have is <0.5mW, similar to the usual red laser pointer you might use as a visual aid in a lecture and those which have been adapted from that use to airsoft. Military/Law Enforcement target painting lasers, whatever colour not just green, are rated for higher output - iirc about 5mW or 10x the civilian use ones. Great idea! Except that I haven't seen any tracer BB's heavier than 0.25g and I use 0.3g in my SVD, so I'd have to reset the hop and lose the zero...
  5. Oh nooooooooooooooooooooooooooez! Someone else who wants a pistol straight away Mate, you'll get far more use out of good eyepro/alternative eyepro for different situations, spare mags, face mask, knee pads, spare mags, webbing, spare battery, spare mags, decent gloves, spare mags, elbow pads, spare mags, oh and... er... something else on the tip of my tongue... got it! Spare mags. You get me? By all means get a pistol for the s&g (although a skinny girly-hand framed 1911 wouldn't be my choice), but just be aware that if your budget is limited, money spent on a pistol is pretty much wasted until after you have a full rig and loadout. Here is my opinion in more detail.
  6. Update: the order is in and will be completed within 10-14 days, then it'll just be however long it takes for shipping to me and trans-shipping on to you. Hopefully it'll arrive on a day when i can get them enveloped up and sent on the same day, but unless it's a weekend, it will be next day at the latest.
  7. 1) Airsoft Red laser sight = £13.40 posted ~ aliexpress.com 2) Maple Leaf Monster Hop Rubber for AEG 60 Deg x 2 = £16 + £2.55 Signed For Shipping ~ milspecsolutions.co.uk 1) I've bought this because it has turrets for windage and elevation adjustment - I intend to replace the red laser diode inside it with an IR laser module I've had lurking in my bits box for ages. The turrets will allow me to zero it in the dark, using my NVG, without having to use any tiny hex keys, which would surely be a high probability candidate for making a bid for freedom... I'm hoping it will be so easy to adjust that it will allow me to plot up in the dark with my SVD in good cover and take a few practice shots to adjust the laser to point bang on the distance to the target zone. Then I'll be able to really piss people off by camping well out of range, quite probably completely unseen, and pick people off at will, muahahahaaaa! The problem with this projected scenario is being able to see my BB's in flight out to Svetlana's max effective range of about 95m, because i'm not at all sure that the Dr. Who-esque Soviet IR illuminator I have will actually shine that far. I was thinking of trying to get a filter for one of my zoomable torches, but I dunno if Cree T6 XM-L LED's produce enough IR along with their white light output for this to work. I'm loath to part with the kind of cash that dedicated IR illuminators tend to go for though, so it will need to be a bodge of some description. Maybe an IR diode hot glued in place of the Cree in a zoomable torch. What do those of you who have used NV gear reckon? 2) The last Maple Leaf 60 degree rubber I bought was for Svetlana, but it turned out that the 0.4/0.43g BB's I wanted it to lift would not work with her PDI barrel, so it ended up as spare. On Saturday I fitted it and an H-Nub into Bottledtorment's G36KV and, even though the FPS is low (308 on 0.2g's), the flat trajectory it produces is apparently about 40m; shots which he described as like a laser. It's unfortunate that he got me in the out-to-lunch phase of a cycle of pain vs meds vs no sleep rinse and repeat until crash and burn or I'd have sorted out the FPS too, but the hop results speak for themselves... I haven't actually fired it outside so I still can't swear to their efficacy, but I'm taking his word for it. Besides I haven't seen anywhere stocking Prometheus Purple (soft) rubbers for a while
  8. So, will we see your wallet running for the hills now? I mean, do you see yourself getting back into it?
  9. Not necessarily - I have a couple of synths and a power amp still in my ex's shed. She's happy enough because she doesn't use the shed for anything anyway and with the various things my health issues have thrown up to deal with since then, i just haven't got around to moving them. When a gift is given, it belongs to the person who receives it. How is it technically still the giver's? OK, fair enough. The lack of contact after leaving them is the crucial info for me. Without an agreement to look after them, it's the same as when storage companies auction off stuff when the rent isn't paid. Good luck to you As Russe11 says though, it's a perfect opportunity to try something a bit random: you never know, you may love it. As has been said, most couriers will not carry pyros, but some do - IIRC UPS are airsoftworld.net's courier of choice for pyros, but you'll need to check the small print. Do not just ask, because what we tend to find is that people who work for these companies often do not actually know their company's policy but nonetheless feel an overwhelming urge to get their jobsworth on But yeah, all types of pyrotechnic are prohibited by Royal Mail.
  10. I am not accusing you of anything, Chellew22, but I have to say that my first thoughts went to your ex and wondering what his attitude to your selling his, quite possibly, pride and joy is. Does he know you are selling his stuff? If not, it's theft and anyone who bought any of it could very well lose it without any compensation when/if that comes to light and have to take that up with you through the civil courts.
  11. ^^What brand is it? Is it older than you, by any chance ?
  12. The boots, but it seems he has run out ho hum... He does get some great stuff though.
  13. For BDU I bought from a Russian company called Magellan. It looks like Kryptec Typhon but they call it "Python Night". They also do a knock off of Nomad and one with colours similar to Highlander. You can see the catalogue here. I paid €93 all in for an MPA-21 (because my original choice MPA-23 was not available at the time of ordering). There is a ban on export of military items from Russia atm (although many companies are blatantly ignoring that and my 2 parcels from profarmy.ru got through just fine) so my contact bought directly from the manufacturer and had it shipped to a friend, who then drove it (along with several other items as it's his business) to Latvia, from where it was posted to me with no fear of being interfered with by Customs. If anyone is interested in ordering from Aleksejs, pm me and i'll give you his deets. He is able to get stuff from Russian sites which do not offer shipping to the UK also and/or help with finding things which a lack of Russian language skillz is making hard to find.
  14. OK the order so far is for 21 patches. If you have read this thread and like the idea but are humming and hahing over whether to get one, now is the time to take the bull by the balls and go for it - the deadline for payment is tomorrow 08:00am.
  15. So the Kobra red dot I bought on the 20th, from dualdealshop on fleabay, turned up from Hong Kong today (actually yesterday now it's past midnight, so the 24th) - 4 days woohoo! I had to disassemble the whole side of it to get the dovetail side mount thingumajig on to the side of my AK, but for £47.50 i'm well pleased. The alternative reticule shapes look pretty decent (in a faux-Soviet way - ie like space invaders) and the brightness control produces noticeable results with each step, so it has more settings than 'so dim it's pointless, still too dim to use, nearly bright enough, bright enough but runs the battery down in 3mins flat'. Here it is on Morena:

  17. Chock mate, WE Europe are doing a replica of the AK PKA red dot (which they're calling PKO) and they are shorter than the PSO-1 SVD scope, so something a bit more like what you're after. Patrol Base have 'em here, but they're not cheap. A while ago there was an ACM PKA too, but I can't find it in a quick search now. Was going for about £65-70 IIRC. It may also interest you to know that dualdealshop on fleabay (ho-um fo quide lidderally thee bee-yest dee-yals in thee woi-ald) are stocking those ACM Kobra RDS again. Kobra Style Red Sight Dot Scope for AK74 AK74U AKS74 AK47 SVD - £47.50 posted
  18. ...Agnes my L1A1 SLR - she's an Ares. Looks great, but is in fact a fucking pig.
  19. Vests existed before body armour, plus when armour first appeared it was much more bulky than Level 4 SAPI plates and would not fit inside the frame of a vest. So for eg when the British Army were issued the type of body armour which is basically a DPM cover over a Kevlar gillet, with pockets for a special shape and composition of ceramic plate over the heart, front and back, they would use a mesh framed assault vest over the top of it, purely for load carrying, or an NI chest rig, which is lighter than a full vest and was worn for patrols where the duration of time outside the base was sure to be less than that for which you may need the carrying capacity of a full vest. There are also times when soldiers who are not combat troops need to carry a bunch of stuff but don't want the bulk or heat of carrying armour. Nonetheless vests without armour do have a defensive function in that they support the body and hold everything inside, so if someone gets shot while wearing one, the cavitation injury caused by the air sucked into the entrance wound does not cause such a massive exit wound and suck half the victim's giblets out through it.
  20. I may be able to help. I used to make kites way back in the day and although I had a couple of very modern sewing machines, I also had a couple of old skool Singers which I began the business with. These days there are basically 2 main types of needle in production: sort of like the difference between motor spindles - there is the simple round type and a type which takes a D shaped pinion gear, yeah? Most needles are like the latter and have a flat edge which the fixing bolt tightens against. Industrial machines can also use needles longer than the standard 39mm, but you will be able to tell because the foot will be longer than the standard 2.25" (57mm). What you will probably need is a pack of 110/18 'Jeans Needles'.
  21. If that was from a supplier, please share :prayinghands: In airsoft "tactical" and "stupid" mean the same thing usually. Agreed re Stitch MeUp, but also Chock is right about simple name tags - they are cheaper from places that supply cadets and/or serving military. Often it is cheaper to buy a set of 3 than 2 individually, but bear in mind that official ZAP Patches etc are often supplied with stitching done with IRR thread which is considerably more expensive than standard thread. You may also save money in the longterm buy having them done on plain OD backgrounds, because OD goes with any colour of BDU's or gear you may get at some point in the future, whereas tan doesn't look right on green based camo, black doesn't look right on tan based camo, MTP doesn't look right on black, DPM, flecktarn, Kryptek, or digital camo of any description. Re: patches in general - you know what you need? One of these! Yeah and have you seen those 'door mines'? They come as standard to take 12 gauge blanks, so designed to be placed right where there is least room, coming through a doorway, so you're guaranteed to be right next to the bloody thing when it goes off!
  22. Oh yeah, and please include your AF-UK username and postage details in the PayPal email accompanying the payment.
  23. OK I believe I have pm'd everyone who has asked for 1 or more patches, but if i have not pm'd you and you want 1/some please say so here or in a pm to me. My plan is option 3 above - to place the order on 26th Jan 2015, so only those patches paid for by no later than 08:00 am on that date will be ordered. Naturally I do not intend to be a fascist about the deadline: if anyone, for whatever reason, fails to get the money to me by then and still wishes to get 1/some, I will try to amend the order with Nicky Stitch MeUp, but I have no idea whether that will be possible and I am not going to delay the whole order and make everyone else wait, unless someone was to order enough to take the whole order to 50+ units, in which case for the sake of a quid each off the price, I would ask for a vote here on whether to delay. The long and short of it however is that, chances are, if you don't pay before the deadline, you'll have to forever hold your piece*... *I know that is the wrong homophone for the idiom, it's a poor quality joke suggesting that you would be left holding a yank pistol/Scottish sandwich/your dick while we will be holding our patches.
