Elcan Spectre on an AK - the disease is spreading, woohoo! Mine is currently on my tacticool RPK! Which I will photograph in a few mins...

Well as you know, Chris, I'm liable to daft ideas, however I'm pretty sure this will work a treat. I'll keep y'all posted though...

I just bought an E&L AK-74MN with 3 E&L mid cap mags for £225 posted from Ireland! Get in there my son! And a SSO 1st Aid pouch for €16 posted from Europe too. -
I get you, but i disagree. It has a handle so you can just put a couple of fingers through it and swing it over your shoulder so the hook side slaps the loops and it'll only be about 10 degrees off vertical...

Yeah, G&P mags are good.

Or a MOSCART to fire 6 at once! -
Weyhey! Radiator shots! Some of mine from back in the day when i was still a noob: Edit to add: i'm not saying that rad shots are noobish btw, just that they're a cliche because they are so ubiquitous.

I will mate Actually I already also have a Russian medic pouch which is rip'n'stick, but the velcro base panel has these flaps and a buckle that close across the front also, which makes it bloody difficult to re-attach quickly. But with this new velcro base I'll have a new option for it too...
-
I'm convinced - I've just bought 1 in OD. I don't think it matters about aligning it properly - so long as the weight isn't too much for the velcro, it'll stick back by just swinging it by the handle so it slaps back in place-ish... I'll be using my Russian PKM 100rnd belt pouch as a utility pouch on it, stuck to the back of my hydration bladder pouch on my Splav harness to carry a few thousand extra BB's for when i'm using the RPK as a support weapon in a long game.

I also went for the amazon.co.uk deal of £1.90 for 500 fun snaps so thanks for the heads up on that We shall soon find out if it is possible to muzzle load and shoot them out of an airsoft gun of some description, without setting them off in the barrel, so they bang on contact with their targets + rip off velcro/molle panel = £25 posted from TacticalKitUK -
Yeah, that is a very cutting edge way of approaching the same problem of access. You needn't use it with a backpack either - just molle the base unit to your hydration bladder pouch, then rip'n'stick a 8x9" utility pouch with a zip, off and, after sorting your shite out, back on...
-
In my experience the only way to use a backpack and be able to get gear out of it yourself, reliably and quickly, is to turn it around and carry it on your chest... personally, I've just started using a Kryptek Typhon waist-pack molle'd to a Typhon battle belt - it fits across my back, has external pockets on either end for 'nades, an external zip pocket for 'nade reload accessories, and about 2.5 Litre volume main pouch for any old extra crap like sweets, tissues, speedloaders, spare batteries, large CO2 grenades, etc. which leaves space on the belt for 4 double RPK mag pouches, 2 on each side, and the hangers for drop leg dump pouch and pistol holster. The loadout works as an open fronted rig, so that even when i've had to take a shed-load of morphine to be able to skirmish and have also become adrenalised by excitement, my front is still only covered by my shirt, so I know I will definitely feel any hits to centre mass... plus I can reach behind my lumbar back area easily to access stuff in the rear pack.

In a semi-delerious state I accidentally bought a Russian 'Mabuta' uniform, which is pretty rare these days even for a good reproduction of the original KGB Special Units' sand coloured battle dress. Got it in size 54-5, if anyone is interested in getting something similar, which should fit me perfectly (42" chest, 37" waist, 5'10" tall with long arms) - paid US$103.00 posted from a Russian fleabayer... Plus I also bought an Asura Dynamics B10 lower handguard RIS for AK's for exactly US$100.00 posted, from a HK fleabayer... ...This 'Mabuta' is very similar to those worn by the KGB 'Zenit' Group who were responsible for the raid codenamed "333 Storm", which is what began the Soviet-Afghan war, as it included storming the presidential palace. The only difference is that it lacks the front facing thigh pockets on the trousers, going instead for the traditional BDU-type pocket placement. Note however that it does include the 'secret pocket' for a fighting knife in a sheath. ...this is destined for my tricked-out tacticool RPK, which is TDB BTW! -

^^Dualdealshop on fleabay would have been cheaper and, despite coming from HK, their postage doesn't usually take longer than about 5 days. -
Only you would put a high speed motor in a gun with a plastic gearbox, Duck. Only you.
-
For what gun?
-
^^It's a Stirling that's been downundered... stoopid stoopid fucking stoopid!
-
If the sideways mag of the Sten was such an issue they should have invented a reliable drum mag to replace the box mag poking out so far.
-
I dunno... I mean yeah Russell, your loadouts are well impressive and, knowing what went into producing the Owen, it is also fucking impressive, but to me it still looks horrible. The mag sticking up like that is just the daftest looking system i've ever seen. I realise that it's better than under the barrel for prone firing, but the horizontal Sten mag position takes care of that.
-
That mag looks like what Krylon call Stone to me, Geoff. But the gun pics look khaki. Oops - Krylon call it River Rock.
-
I found one going uber cheap on one of the BBguns sites because it was a customer return, sold as seen stylee, with exactly that in mind, but it is soooo shit that so far i haven't even started the project. I mean i will literally have to replace everything and i suspect pretty much fill the internal cavities with something like bathroom sealant to give it sufficient robustness to handle being skirmished - although the main problem is the mag. Whatever I choose as the donor gun system to replace the poxy plastic single stack pistol stylee mag, there really isn't any part of the plastic body which is solid enough to take slapping mags into it in the heat of the moment, so there will need to also be a steel and/or aluminium substructure holding the gearbox, hop chamber, magwell and barrel in a fixed relationship to each other and the plastic body just as an envelope around it.

I've tried to shoulder a P90 so regardless of how narsty looking they are, if it was a viable option for me, I'd consider it. But even with a butt pad on, to shoulder it I had to scrunch my arms up in a way that made me feel very uncomfortable. And I'll see your Stargate and raise you Battlestar Galactica (shame there's no Beretta MX4 Storm in anything but a 90% orange really crappy LPEG - but BSG do use a G36K and iirc a pair of Scorpions).
-
For the love of all that's perforated, don't get a P90... ...unless you've got T-Rex arms!

Oh the hobby/sport is not just on the field, I enjoy the tinkering with my guns to get the maximum range and accuracy out of them. And yeah, i often do sit behind cover shooting people from ranges they just don't believe from a full auto AEG, although to be honest they only get to know for sure that my AK-74, for eg, is not a semi-auto only DMR when I'm firing at running targets. "Camping! Bloody camping!" Hey, is it my fault if the opposition can't flank me, or suppress me? Everyone makes use of their talents to gain whatever advantage they can - for some people that's speed and agility, for others it may be tactical awareness, for others team organisation, is there some reason why mechanical aptitude shouldn't be turned into an advantage on the field? The problem is when you get people hiding as far back as I often do with a gun that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at that range. But let's have it right, if you have to get within 35m of a target to have even a small chance of hitting them and they can shoot you from 50m away, you are going to need a bottomless well of cheerfulness to draw upon to come away from the day feeling enthusiastic about coming back regularly...
