People who tell you to worry about bb bits through mesh are in the same league as the ones who think lipos explode like grenades left right and centre. I've seen someone get a tiny, slightly irritating bit in their eye once.. and that's it. This is even less of a concern if you wear glasses under the mesh, those tiny pieces have cock all energy left if a shot does break on the mask.

Best out of the box AEG Rifle for <£500?
TheFull9 replied to Werdna's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Don't spend as much as you want to spend, spend as much as we tell you to spend. -
According to my inbox I snagged a few as I'm able to use my phone in work, feeling like I might've gotten pretty lucky there. Only signed up for the email alerts from them by pure chance 2 days ago after I trawled google for stock, but finding none I signed up for all 3 alerts I could find from reputable retailers instead. That said, I've played with the gun a fair bit in order to build a little muscle memory having not owned an MP5 before and either my mag catch sits a little deeper in the housing than it's meant to or the design isn't ideal. After a few dozen reloads seating the mag got harder and harder to a point it was pretty unreasonable. There's a lot of paint missing inside the housing now on my gun and a small chunk of plastic taken out of the top of the mag where it pushes on the catch. I think the catch just has a lot more spring tension on it compared to any AR or AK I've ever handled, real or airsoft.

I'm assuming I can't cut off the MR30 in the gun and get a regular deans in there instead given the 3 wires/crimped connections? No idea tbh, never seen this connector before. I just got to the point a few months ago where every single other gun and battery I have is all on deans, only took over a decade.

Purely imho - the Colt style looks entirely like something that'd be made up for a Japanese cartoon where the animators have fused something super modern with something super old for a unique look, not a fan personally and I wouldn't say it fits the notion of futuristic pistol concept but an interesting aesthetic. The lower shares some stuff in common with the Laugo Alien which is where I think pistols will go in future, so it makes a lot more sense to me in the context. I'd prefer to see something different to what Wilson Combat does in terms of the grip and front strap texturing but that stuff is effective and doesn't exist yet in airsoft in fairness.

Certainly not something I relish in saying, but not unexpected by any means unfortunately. Be interesting to see any further feedback/pictures/video that come out of this. It's a shame that large events basically can't seem to be done in the UK. I'm sure there's the odd exception to the rule but anything I've ever heard of that's had more than around 100-150 or so has been pretty universally panned to the point I do not feel like even the safety would be to an acceptable standard attending any of them, let alone getting an actually fun game.

Oh no.. the watch guys are here.. Wouldn't ever catch me spending too much money and needlessly obsessing over details of the equipment for a mundane/everyday task or event, no siree.

Became an owner 2 days ago, just need to sub to this thread. Is the facebook group in the OP secret?

Run Your Sling Through A Plate Carriers Shoulders?
TheFull9 replied to Fatboy40's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I think there's various good reasons this idea died off in the real world. Use a real simple, robust and effective 1 or 2 point sling on its' own, protect your neck with a shirt with appropriate collar or a snood/neckie/clava/whatever. -
This has been coming up since I started; there is no consensus and there never will be. All I'd say is, if you wear actual SF patches and real ranks etc in bb wars you will almost certainly look back at pictures from those games in years time and go 'oooh... cringe'. This game has enough of that as it is, less is more with patches.

Blows my mind tbh. If I issued that out the hatch people would not know (excluding the whole NSPs thing).

They come with those scopes? I've looked around at replicas before for a similar-ish use/build and there's a couple out there but very little info. -
The only thing I don't like about this release is I'm now worried they'll update the recoil line of ARs and the ones I already own will suddenly feel quite obsolete lol. I am stoked to get my MP5 next week though, I think this is TM's best release in a long time and I like a lot of what they do. My personal preference isn't the SD aesthetic but I'm sure a lot of people out there will want to know what brand SD handguard and suppressor you have on there so they can make their own.

Definitely made a top camo choice for your site there mate, certainly in this season. I like to see it, nice one.

I may not like it but no arguing with the design or the practicality of the end outcome. Eliminating the outer barrel entirely was definitely a smart move in the context.

Just some general tips for anyone with the same issues that I've gone with over the years (because I get exactly what you mean): -If going for a cap, get one that's mostly mesh (Anything that looks like the Arc'teryx BAC). -Look for an ear pro headband with spacer mesh (A&A Tac make some, again just an example for visual reference). -Also for ear pro, Noisefighters heatsyncs (don't know any equivalent product unfortunately). -Fan goggles help just that teeny tiny little bit or mesh eye pro if that's your preference. -The more of the lower face pro is metal mesh then, obviously, the better. I know balaclavas are even more the rage right now than ever before but they retain a lot of heat and sweat. Pretty sure a few people here have done DIY airflow for helmets.

I spend all my working days with L85s and 22s in front of me and it took a few minutes of looking at certain details to convince myself the gun wasn't real.
-
That will tend to happen in anything that can take both AK and AR/556 mags since AK mags are so much bigger. Having your mags sit nice and deep with lots of protection and retention is good in a military context, but if you have something loop-lined (spiritus/haley) you can use inserts that have a bottom like the MP2s or ESSTAC KYWIs and set your own depth. Or, in both an older chest rig or modern micro rigs when using the elastic inserts with no base just put some foam in the bottom of the rig.

Playairsoft – a Crowd-sourced List of UK Airsoft Sites
TheFull9 replied to shadowfacex's topic in General Discussion
Gonna bump this myself because this needs and deserves a lot more eyeballs and traffic. I know there's at least 1 site just south of Oxford (a RIFT site I believe) that's not currently listed though not sure if that's because it's not been submitted or @shadowfacex is working through stuff. Would greatly encourage anyone who's not to bookmark this, start using it and recommending to friends. But more importantly submit any sites that aren't on there right now as I don't know of a single central resource listing every UK site and I guarantee tons of people out there are missing out on finding the places to play that suit them best because of that very issue. -
Top tip - massively tarbrushing the group you're attempting to reprimand is a hypocritical move.

Multicam tropic trouser and shirt - Emerson or TMC?
TheFull9 replied to Sneaky's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Long term you will most likely be a lot better off if the garment (whatever the brand is) uses legit MCT fabric, as highlighted by some experiences above. That's the big difference between more low/mid-range priced uniforms from proper manufacturers vs pure chinese cloners that only make copies for the airsoft market. Shirts and trousers from Tru-Spec and Leo Kohler are what I mainly find myself recommending these days. -
Stocks like that exist to get under big fat bullet resistant face shields/visors, nothing more needs saying really. French and German police specifically use such setups a fair bit.

'Stuff That's Just Arrived' is my vote for new thread title, removes ambiguity. -
Direct action bearcat or OPS rapid responder plate carrier?
TheFull9 replied to GothicGhost's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I'd go DA myself as I say, but check out Templars Gear too for their options and Begadi: https://www.begadi.com/outdoor/plate-carriers/begadi-value-plattentraeger-plate-carrier-set-mit-5-taschen-pencott-greenzone.html Breathability will be 98% the same with any of these options because PCs are 0% breathable so if the surface area is the same between 2 designs the amount of sweat you can evaporate will be the same. A spacer mesh lining is nice if you find one with that, but it's not a game changer. That said actually, the DA rig with hollow fake plates will be better than the others if you cut a load of holes in said fake hollow plate.
