And TBH in this current pandemic you blink and miss 2 weeks ?
-
I requested some parts the other day and got a lead time of 2 weeks to dispatch.

The MWS trigger function and reliability is perfect. However it is a bit mushy, and the wall/reset are weak and slightly variable. This can be improved upon as mentioned recently and historically in this thread.
-
@Hypokondrikern The MWS itself is pretty lightweight, especially with a modern hand guard/rail. The trigger set is proprietary ZET system, you’d be a fool to change it out, all made of steel, and superbly reliable. The buffer tube and receiver are also high quality aluminium, and the receiver is cerakote’d.

On TM mags normal air is dispelled from the full valve whilst gassing up. Thus you fill with gas, hissing is normal air vacating the mag, then when you get a spurt of gas/liquid the mag is brimmed.

OP Foxtrot Romeo Oscar ?
-
Not particularly, the reason is because of the sprung nozzle buffer device, the like of the GHK M4 /all other GBBRs do not have this, so the bolt crashes (clacks) into the hop unit. The MWS bolt decelerates into the hop unit.

Yup, id personally sooner buy a bog standard MWS and make my own MK18 without PITA parts.

As above the gearbox and compression parts are very good. I have owned 3 and built others for customers to varying levels but you don’t need much. The gear set is also very good quality - DO NOT CHANGE THEM! This is all you want parts wise; ZCI high torque motor with ICS pinion Prometheus EG barrel 455mm Prometheus type 2 cylinder Renew the piston head O ring Nice bucking and nub Gate PicoAAB Alpha Wire 16awg 11.1V LiPo New ICS spring if it’s sat around for years. Renew ICS parts in the lower receiver related to the cut off lever - I cannot remember the part numbers but if you look in your manual at the parts diagram you can order them direct from ICS. This keeps fire selector semi issues at bay. Free upgrades / work; Re shim the gearbox. Set motor height. Polish / de burr the gearbox shell. Check all air seals. Support the inner barrel agains vibration. Shim the hop unit toward the gearbox 0.5mm-0.75mm, this fixes double feed. Icing on the cake, semi pro job; Ditch the trigger contact assy and replace with a micro switch, short stroke the trigger. Yes I like the ICS L85 ?

@occidio so it does make sense, a GBB auto volumes, which yes I agree if you fastidiously volume matched an AEG cylinder you could achieve ‘nearly’ the same affect AKA joule creep. I say ‘nearly’ because there is something about the way a GBB accelerates a BB, until the floating valve closes. AEGs simply cannot accelerate the BB in the same manor, I think this is down to the short stroke of an AEGs piston, circa 40mm. As such to get DMR FPS the spring is very strong, so the BB is ‘popped’ more than accelerated. A BASR has a much longer stroke allowing for better acceleration.
-
Owing to the nature of Gas power they are better performing as a DMR than an AEG powered one would be, froma an energy transfer point of view. Obviously they are not magical so will not perform as well as a proerly sorted BASR. IMO and experience, fully worked airsoft guns generally are capable of the following measured EFFECTIVE RANGE; 500 fps BASR - 95M 430 fps MWS DMR - 80M 430 fps AEG DMR - 75M 340 fps AEG - 65M

Humbrol “dark brown” aerosol is the best FDE colour I’ve come across, I find Magpul FDE more like tan/too light

Theatre of engagement, nice! That'll be the garden then ATM ?

@Ewandarbz have you read any reviews or any of this thread!?!? In a nutshell the MWS or GHK M4 V2 series are the best GBBRs going in AR flavour. @RMDavis looking very nice! It is definitely nice to have a new optic, especially if spending out for a real steel one. Seeing as we can’t play anywhere hold out for a good used RS M4 or M2??
-
@JSwan looks 100% better sprayed up! ?
-
Yes Rob! Old school/FSP build! I think an aimpoint M4s would be lovely if one can be found It’s annoying for me, I love the old skool setups, but the pistol grip angles kill my wrist ?

The 'What have you just bought' Thread
Davegolf replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Finally got my mid length Esstacs from ol’ USA And my Polarstar stock from the Netherlands ? -
Modern M4s are incredibly light, let alone toy ones, one of the many reasons they are so favoured and so popular to their own detriment ? @Hypnosis I didn’t like the upper lower separation / contact idea, and the little daffy bit behind the engine.

I don’t know what you mean there ?? Seeing as your goal in this venture was to learn to tech, you kinda went backwards. First off use the standard tappet plate, nozzle, hop unit and bucking, this eliminates MANY variables. Below 230mm barrel length you’re going to want to be at least one spring power rating higher than the spring is advertised as. Next up as mentioned, you’re losing 15 FPS per SS tooth too. Personally I haven’t used that motor, and you haven’t said what battery your on - but you don’t normally need to short stroke with a ‘torque’ motor on 12:1 ratio. You say compression is excellent, is that to say the piston stops dead and rock hard a gnat’s cock past the cylinder port? Also as @Sitting Duck said, always check the piston is free when changing from standard, and “maths, suggestions & bollocks aside, you need to go back and check EVERYTHING very very closely”

There’s some good used MTWs on here to those interested. Ive been on the fence for a few weeks, the things that appealed to me where; - Stand-alone designed system - Everything is aligned properly - Co2 stock option - Mag empty detection - Milspec compatibility Thing that stopped me getting one; - M4 guise only (although nice) - Long winded to remove hop/barrel - electrical connections So like some other users have mentioned here I’m building up a custom Co2 ‘stocked’ gun.

Ha love the Rhino!
