  1. 16 TPA is not really high torque, for similar amount of money you can get a 28 TPA motor from aliexpress for about £32 shipped. There is also a 32 TPA £55 shipped. These will give you good efficiency and trigger response but low ROF. The 16 TPA will probably give you meh results. In my opinion brushless is actually a good upgrade for stock because it is relatively foolproof. It will not have cause torque/heat/amp issues, and no sparking issues so you can skip the mosfet. You don't need to worry about balancing torque and RPM like brushed motors so there is little possibility of mistake. The only downside is it may be too fast and gets you into PME territory (which is unlikely with stock gears). And may have compatibility issues with some mosfet/ETU (can't use active breaking etc) so that is a whole new area of problems. But for stock it is a rather good upgrade. Will probably feel a bit like switching from HDD to SSD and you won't have any money left for other upgrades, but you probably won't need them by now 🤪
  2. 35k might actually be too high speed if you want to keep RPS lowish for ammo/battery conservation or realistic ROF reasons. Any speed Warhead will have the torque (therefore trigger response) and efficiency (less heat). So all things being equal, you actually just want to pick the Warhead speed based on the RPS you are trying to achieve. It also depends on which battery you are using. I guess you can use this video as reference: From the video the 35k Warhead doesn't seem to increase ROF as much as it suggests from 27k at 11.1v so you might want to pick the 27k for better efficiency if you are using 11.1v.
  3. Is that wire going to the left somehow pushing up the feeding part so it is rubbing against the nozzle? Because there are some marks on the wire too not sure if it's from magazine inserts.
  4. That is clever, very clear too so no more guessing, and I agree it looks like it is just on the edge of PME!
  5. Inside the assembled gearbox? How do you do that?
  6. Wouldn't chamfering the mag itself achieve the same effect / help even more? With countersink bits £5 like these
  7. (Sorry about steering off-topic into airsoft site design in general) The 2021 International Building Code (which is used in America and some other countries) have had updated to include "Puzzle rooms (escape rooms) are now defined and regulated as special amusement areas, requiring compliance with Section 411 and special means of egress requirements". (Which includes indoor airsoft sites) This would affect affect (new) indoor airsoft sites (outside UK) because it deals with fire escape routes markings and distances and so on (so cannot be an absolute maze or you have to be clever about it) and sprinklers are mandatory in indoor sites bigger than 1000 square feet, and voice alarm PA systems, and fire rated interior finishes, etc. Which I imagine would make it a little more expensive to start an indoor CQB site and you have to be more thoughtful about it, and in terms of gameplay it may have some implications on the complexity of layout you can design because now it should be simple and obvious enough to escape from in any emergency. Unless you come up with some clever contraptions to collapse certain areas to show an escape routes from the game area or something. So while our castle and church in Glasgow is in sort of a grey area (they are "buildings" but not really), I would assume building regs do still apply (as they needed planning application) and this aspect was probably covered by the builder/contractor themselves who are self-certified on the Competent Person Scheme. And by the looks of it it seems to be built at least semi-professionally judging by craftsmanship etc. So at the end of day I suppose as long as they are structurally ok, and safe in a fire (easy to escape / extinguishers etc) and safe to use (slip resistant chicken wires is questionable even though it is used elsewhere) etc it should be covered in terms of liability. They also can say the structures are only entered when there is real time monitoring by marshals standing at an observable distance so that by itself is a big plus. I suppose you guys need to sign a waiver to play as well? And I just thought of there are people airsofting in abandoned buildings that are clearly dangerous, so this Glasgow site is far from being dangerous all things considered. And arguably the uneven terrain surrounding the structures is more dangerous than the structures themselves.
  8. Ok sounds like they have managed out the risks. Don't get me wrong I really do admire the structures. And it all looks very well designed and well built, just very curious if this sort of structure needs to meet certain standards on paper e.g. building regs. Is it because they are not technically buildings? Or are they classed as something like "playground equipment" (do they meet BS EN 1176)? Surely they needed planning application for it (found it). I envy you guys, the site looks amazing.
  9. I think it is due to the American constitution literally have gun rights baked in (2A), so it is not just a big part of their culture, it is part of their primary definition as a people, which is supposedly a body of freedom loving warriors who defy oppression or whatever. Which I can see why Americans are proud of it and practice it religiously. But most other countries have guns banned. Including the UK. So we don't have a similar warrior or militant mindset or culture. We have a richer history and civilisation to draw our cultural prides and identities from. This is not meant to be a jab towards Americans, simply to say we are very different cultures built on different foundations despite sharing the same language. In the UK, guns is a very taboo subject/object. We mostly associate it with high criminality rather than any sort of pride.
  10. 332 FPS of a 0.25 BB is 1.28 joules, or same energy as a 371 FPS .2 BB. To get to 310 FPS (1.12 joules) you need to decrease 12.5% of power. Assuming your sector gear has 14 teeth, 2 teeth out of 14 is ~14.3%. 1 tooth is ~7.1%. So I would say 2 teeth is probably better than 1 because you get extra headroom for PME. And better trigger response. Not sure if your hop makes a huge difference so maybe try to gradually apply hop and chrono it to see if it drops quick or slow?
  11. I am very impressed with the structures (from the videos and photos). Looks incredibly fun. Although there is a nagging voice in my head whispering about flammable timber planks and li-po fires and people running on flimsy structures and things of that nature. Very curious who designed/built them.
  12. Ok I just checked the actual Ofcom wording and you may be right. (On the license it says "the Licensee and any person authorised to act on the Licensee’s behalf is hereby authorised to send and receive...") Although I would argue if you are the licensee you should also technically own the entire fleet of radios that you authorise other people to use. Although in reality I don't imagine it is at all policed/enforced unless someone is seriously messing about using your license prompting some sort of action by Ofcom. At which point you the licensee will also be responsible (if you are ratted out). For frequencies, you can use any of the frequencies listed on your license. Among the ones you listed the UHF frequencies (4xx Mhz) will be most practical because the same antenna will work for PMR446 so your baofengs can be set up to access both sets of frequencies. So you can play with walk-ins if they can't or don't want to reprogram.
  13. My opinion about the design of the patch: it is not cool looking enough for something that have to be explained what it means to someone who doesn't know a fuk. If there is an URL at least it would be self-explanatory and not so head scratch inducing.
  14. I guess most if not all of the radio users in airsoft will be on PMR446. Which is the license free walkie-talkie 16 channels. If you are running the £75 business radio license, you will be on totally different channels from the PMR446 and any person will also have to shell out the £75 and have their radio also programmed to tune into your particular channel. Which seems totally unnecessary unless you really really want to stop most people from listening in.
  15. But for real how is the tape/armband supposed to go on something like a poncho? There is no arm to wrap around. A horizontal strip near the shoulder?

    Gamble

Hi Gamble, please get a good clip-on microphone or something because the talking part is too low volume plus there is too much echo/reverb in your talking so I cannot hear it very well with my laptop speakers, and I don't have this issue with other Youtubers, so I am sure it is your audio and also your room is rather echoey. Content wise it seems fun to watch, but the audio quality is preventing me from enjoying them. The action parts are ok, just the room talking parts I really can't hear you.
  17. Thanks everyone, think I will rent my three games rather than getting a two-tone. Will pop down to Chislehurst one of these weekends and see how the day goes. 👍
  18. Yeah I know it has nothing to do with VCRA directly but it is more of a fancy write up to reinforce the impression of "everything is very legal" to an unknowing officer. In part because I don't trust their judgement very much even in the best of circumstances (and so in the very unlikely event of being dragged to court I can say, I had shown this to the officer) even if I did everything correctly and politely and perfectly and so on. In part because I want to have a piece of paper "mock-license" filled with somewhat relevant info, even though it is more of a pamphlet or some sort of a prop, a "realistic imitation carry license" to accompany a realistic imitation firearm, if you will.
  19. I have written a piece of A4 for when someone is stopped on public transport e.g. on the Tube. The idea is anyone can print this out and tie to your toy gun to make sure the copper is well convinced on the fact that it isn't illegal. This is probably my paranoia but knowing I have something to show on paper would probably calm my nerves a little with an RIF in my bag travelling on the Tube. Call it a LARPlicense or whatever but essentially just a piece of paper to tell the copper my UKARA number and hopefully prevent any miscommunication from happening and smoothens out the process. Below is a draft, would appreciate if any of you more familiar with the law can point out any mistakes or any changes you would make. Also please suggest a different name cos this one's a mouthful. Airsoft Defence Form?
  20. If we have a ghillie clothing class with their own rules to allow discretion removal or repositioning of armbands, like how sniper rifles have their own rules, surely for marshalling reasons they should just belong to the same class, as such you should only be allowed to wear ghillie if you use a sniper rifle and vice versa. If that is the case then I don't see the issue with different rules applying to ghillies. But in practice since everyone can wear a ghillie, or wear parts of a ghillie, that becomes the issue, because suddenly you have random people deciding not to wear the armband simply because they enjoy it, and it becomes impossible to marshal the game because the only way of team identification goes out the window. So for management reasons any game sites should never allow discretion removal of armbands based on clothing. It should be based on the sniper rifle special rules. That is at least piggybacking on the existing rule-set and makes it a sniper rifle problem therefore completely eliminates the ghillie clothing from equation, which would make a whole lot more sense to me. If we reframe the problem into "should sniper users who already play with different joule limit and engagement distances allowed to remove or reposition their armbands", that is a much more reasonable question or proposition than say, can someone remove their armband based on the amount of leafs they are wearing. So in short this is actually a sniper rifle problem, and not at all related to the ghillie suit clothing.
  21. In some sites the sniper class already has their own category of joule limits and engagement distances however that is just for the rifle you choose. Ghillies can be worn by anyone so it does not belong in its own separate class of clothing, because there are no separate classes based on clothing like how the sniper rifle belong in a different class from normal rifles. If wrapping myself in heavy gauge green cotton strings gives me the privilege to remove my armband or reposition it however I please I still wouldn't. Because A. that is an arbitrary exemption of a rule and B. it gives you a visibility privilege therefore is unfair to other players. Does not matter if you did or did not intent to conceal it, or if it is "relocated" for prone position ID or any other reason. The moment you remove or conceal it from the usual expected position i.e. on your arms, you are already generating an unfair visibility privilege. The armband is an agreed identification protocol that makes the game a game. If everyone wears it in one place and one of them wears it in another place, it becomes less legible therefore harder to identify therefore slower or impossible to react to therefore has real gameplay fairness implications. If the rule is every player is required to wear the armband clearly, everyone should wear it clearly. There should be no exceptions. If everyone is allowed to bend the rules however they enjoy (even if they enjoy it very very much), we wouldn't have a game at all because it would be impossible for marshals to enforce any rule. And by the way if some magically invisible person is running around without visible armband and ankle band it becomes a massive collision or tripping risk. Two invisible magicians without armbands can knock each other out running their helmets full force unknowingly into each other and the worst of all is no one will notice and the tripping will pile up in that particular location.
  22. If one day we have a perfect invisible tech (let's call it magic suit) anyone wearing the magic invisible suit will be fully expected to wear armbands at the very minimum, probably leg bands as well, if not just for safety and ID reasons. I think the visible armband rule should be mandatory to all players to maintain fairness, if the guy in normal suits have to keep his armband visible (and not allowed to hide it), a ghillie should not enjoy any privilege to be able to remove or relocate or obscure their armband just because they choose to dress in leafs. I would even argue ghillies should have mandatory leg bands in addition to armbands as to allow prone position identification for friendlies. If I decided to put my armband in my pocket just because I am dressed in some magical optical cloaking tech (therefore should be "fully invisible") they would have kicked me out of the site. The thing is, this is ultimately a game, and any game needs some sort of balance for A. a fun experience for all and B. for the health of the hobby in general. By and large the real world counters to real snipers are not commonly practised in airsoft or have a much higher bar of entry than just paying £50 for a ghillie overall. This is also a game legally limited to 1J plastic bullets and the rules should be designed around the gameplay that emerge from it and I would say perfect invisibility should be ruled out. At the minimum team identification should be visible from any angle. Outside of the armbands, you can be as invisible as you want but keep the armbands visible. Moreover if you wear a ghillie you should still need to make the armband (and leg band) visible even just for identification reasons alone. If someone has the rare skills to identify you from under the bush before you can shoot him but not able to tell you are friend or foe, they will be forced to either shoot you or ask you verbally which team you are on, which frankly both are merely workarounds of a problem that should not be allowed to take place in the first place. So this is as much as a class-privilege problem and a practical gameplay rule-set problem.
