Double Eagle M904g – Aka the Original Q Honey Badger
RostokMcSpoons replied to mightyjebus's topic in AEG/GBBR Reviews
Ok, just had a quick test fire. 1) 0.40's - with almost all the hop applied, it kept the shots flat out to near the target, and then a little ballistic drop right at the end. So although I'd quite like to see how it runs at greater range for-shits-and-giggles, it was always going to a real stretch for it to be usable at full-auto site limits. 2) 0.32's - over-hopped (thought we're talking a gentle upward curve rather than moon-shot stuff, so yeah they're no problem. I'll be running with 0.32s at my next skirmish to see how it performs and whether the slightly more expensive ammo gets better consistency shot-to-shot. My gut feel was instantly that 0.34's might be worth a go too. 3) Chrono test. I banged a few shots through the chrono just to make sure it was up at the same power levels I had when I last chrono'd (4 weeks ago?). That was 345fps on 0.20's. Well, it came a s abit of a shock to see 210fps, but then I realised I'd left lots of hop on. Dialed that back, didn't make much difference for the 0.32s, it went up to 220fps. The site limit being 261fps. So I tried my 0.28's, that came back at 260-265fps - should be nearer 290fps. It looks like the last couple of skirmishes, where I've pumped somewhere between 5 and 7 thousand BBs (heavy trigger finger!) through it, have taken a toll. It might just need a bit of lube, it might need a new spring. I've got a spare M105 so it'll be a quick job to find out. (The gun was running great on the field on Saturday though, which goes to show that power ain't everything) I think that makes my results with the BBs just a 'work-in-progress' because a bit more power might generate a bit more back spin, and hence more lift, but the stock hop unit is fairly decent, I think. (The standard hop rubber... not so much!) -
Disappointing to hear that about the hyperx I have the same problem with the black shark... If I'm on a meeting call I can't really leave my room and go more than a few feet from the door before I start to lose signal, where as the Logitech was brilliant... I could go downstairs and make a cup of tea without losing the connection

I can try tomorrow, I've got some 0.32s and 0.40s. my gun still has the stock hop unit but I did change to a macaron 50deg and omega nub. And an m105 spring so it's on the nail at 350fps. I can only shoot to 15m, but I'll test to see if it can over hop noticeably. -
The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
RostokMcSpoons replied to Skara's topic in General Discussion
Second trip to Special Ops yesterday, and a much better all round experience this time... Did I cure myself of my predilection for taking everything plus the kitchen sink with me? Did I feck. 3 gun carriers (de m906, Tippmann, vfc hk416, g&g36c, Rossi sniper) , an IKEA bag with spare battle belt and clothes (that did stay in the car, along with the scuba tank), a kit bag full of ammo and gas cans plus assorted bits and pieces, and a tool box, meant I was struggling to get my get my gear from the car park to the safe zone. Luckily a chap volunteered to give me a hand and we ended up talking to each other for the rest of the day, made a friend! I was a bit more organised though and spent less time farting around and more time concentrating on my guns. Fewer people at the door helped too. Apparently the ticketing system broke the previous time and oversold tickets, this time it was 60ish rather than nearly 90. Made all the logistics easier, and so the chrono proceeding went more smoothly and the safety brief kicked off on time. Before that I tried to sort out my Tippmann and the VFC HK416. I failed. The Tippmann, after I changed to the recommended G&G green rubber, it shot inconsistently. I hadn't applied PTFE tape around the barrel or re lubed the action, it seems I have an inconsistent airseal... Sometimes running too hot, it didn't pass chrono. Also it was set to too high a RoF so would sometimes double fire on semi. It's definitely fixable but I decided to work on the 416 instead. I admit it, I sort of lost patience with the magazines. One decided to vent gas, maybe a dry o-ring, and with the other the cheapo BB speed loader wasn't very speedy... And I was finding it hard to get more than 10 or 15 BBs in there. It made tuning the hop and zeroing the sights a bit of a faff. The thought of trying to skirmish with one half full mag was a non-runner so I gave up. I really need to buy that HPA high cap off Powair6! I also sorted the G&G G36C. Got the hop set, full auto is a blast on that gun, but the semi auto isn't quite right... Sometimes I seem to get a low power shot from it, not a double feed. Odd. Nice gun though! Will be using it more in the future. The games were the usual mix but just seemed to flow better with all the marshals knocking off the rustiness from the long lay off, and fewer people to contend with. A bit of non hit taking from the youngsters in their bullet proof jackets, but if they don't take the first couple of hits, a long burst usually encouraged them to change their mind ☺️ I racked up a lot of kills (and a lot of deaths too), mostly thanks to the Double Eagle which stills surprises me with it's range and accuracy. I had the hop nicely tuned in, and once I zeroed the Eotech I was using (worked beautifully), I was getting nice headshots on the tree trunk peepers. A great day out all told, but I'd really like to get the other guns sorted properly. TL;DR... it seems I can only do 'too long', so you did't read this 🥴😂 -
I've got a fairly big noggin (59cm) and I've had these... Razer Blackshark v2 Pro wireless (current headset) Logitech G533 wireless (didn't like it) HyperX Cloud 2 wired The Logitech was either a bit of a head clamper, or actually too loose, it's been a long time with it stuck in a box somewhere so that I can't remember which! I didn't like the audio too much though, and the mic wasn't so good either. The HyperX was comfortable and I really liked the sound quality. I very nearly bought the wireless version, but I fancied a headset with optional surround sound, so I bought Razer and the THX Spatial software for it. I wish I'd bought the Hyper X to be honest. Sorry I just noticed you're after a PS5 headset, I'm on PC and not sure if they're compatible, but maybe the info will help anyway.

Indeed that would! Thanks for the spot I've just had some financial bad news though, so as it's not essential it's getting added to my future shopping list.

Double Eagle M904g – Aka the Original Q Honey Badger
RostokMcSpoons replied to mightyjebus's topic in AEG/GBBR Reviews
Can I suggest you consider the M908 series if you're thinking of another DE...? I know the 904G tends to be the cheapest in the range (£150 at Patrolbase today), my recent look at others that are available suggests the prices have squashed up together, so a 904L might well be around the £180-190 mark. For a little bit more (£230), you could have this... https://bbguns4less.co.uk/products/double-eagle-m908a-ar15-rifle-with-falcon-system-in-black.html The 908A has the long barrel like the 904L, but it's got two potentially worthwhile features: 1) It's all metal. Ok, if you want the lightest weight, then polymer is the way to go. I like the feel of steel (or pot metal, or aluminium) though, and it's not that much heavier. 2) The PTS-style stock. Plenty of space for bigger batteries - nunchuck style for instance. I upgraded my 906 to a PTS stock and it allowed me to fit a chunky Titan 11.1 3000mAh battery in there, saving a lot of fiddling around that I had with smaller batteries in the DE stock. You might not consider either of these things important - but just thought you might be interested. -
I bunged the polymer handguard back on, stuck a different stock on, added a stubby grip and red dot, and the key item I can fit with the shorter guard - the Novritsch suppressor. I think it's looking alright... I'd definitely prefer two or three inches less on the handguard, and even more I'd like it to be aluminium, but it was worth digging it out of the spares box.

Looking good, @Point Two Balls ... hope you enjoy your new gnu as much as I've enjoyed my DE so far. You seem to have got your model number a bit awry though, unless there's some new models out there... looks like the 904G ...? -
Always been happy with one of these, since I got one... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aoutacc-Foldable-Airsoft-Protection-Paintball/dp/B07FBJG365/ref=asc_df_B07FBHGBNL/ It's definitely saved me from some stingers around the face and ears, and saved a tooth probably - I got pinged right in the mouth mesh last time out.

Back when I was buying my 38" waist trousers on eBay that there's not always much stock to be had at that end of the market.. But this seller seems to have quite a few options, if you jump between the New and different grades of used https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313538493744 -
@ak2m4 and I have been swapping messages behind the scenes before I'd come here and seen the screenshot. Unfortunately I'm after an m-lok rail, so I've declined, but Pete offered it to me for a very reasonable price - if anyone else is interested please contact him directly!

The barrel nut is one of these things, pretty sure I've seen it in image for a handguard on my travels, so I suspect it's 'generic' to some degree. It's threaded at either end so I think it's a metric / imperial fitting. It's the larger diameter that fits the gun. It's soft metal, very chewed up because it needs a lot of torque to get it lined up on the receiver, and I'm probably using the wrong tool with it (the prev owner was an engineer, and he did most of the damage, honest!). 34.2mm exterior diameter, 30.5mm interior diameter, 30.0mm at the other end 57mm long My google-fu must be weak, I can't find any useful info on the M4 v2 regarding this Edit: Reddit to the rescue(?) Answers suggest it's "milspec"

Excellent, thanks for the link! I don't know about the thread... I'll google it tonight (just off to play footy)

Just be careful if you try to sling the gun over your shoulder when you run around with the sniper, I managed to pop a mag out as it bumped around, I was very lucky someone found it and handed it in -
Double Eagle M904g – Aka the Original Q Honey Badger
RostokMcSpoons replied to mightyjebus's topic in AEG/GBBR Reviews
Obviously I think DEs are great, and I've had hankerings for a 904 as a lightweight backup gun, but even I have managed to resist that temptation (so far), so why did you feel the need? -
I'm thinking I'd like an alternative handguard for my Tippmann M4 v2. I've already got two for it... a 12" m-lok aluminium which fits over the 10" barrel and makes it easy for me get the 'honey badger' look, and a short polymer guard... Which didn't quite float my boat. I'm on the look out for a short-ish metal m-lok guard with hopefully some extra visual interest than a plain tube of rails. I want to fit a stubby grip and probably either a suppressor or short sound amplifier, and showing some ankle (barrel). 😋 The current rails connect to the body by 6 bolts that connect into a big screw-on tube / nut. That thing is looking a bit chewed up because I have to really tighten it very hard to get the top RIS rail and bolt holes to line up. I don't know if this is a standard fitting or not, so some guidance would be appreciated on that The main thing is, are there any good looking rails I can get for around £50-60 that you guys can recommend? Edit... I've had a look at eBay and AliExpress, not much on eBay and nothing on Ali (that thing with no real steel fittings?) Which leaves Amazon where the Trirock guards can be had in my price range. Are they good enough? Edit 2: This one looks pretty much ideal, it's reasonably priced, it's on Amazon so easy to send back if I don't like it... And the barrel nut looks exactly like the one I already have, so should be compatible. Any reason not to go for it? I bought a TM AK47-S as my first gun, and then had some buyer's regret when the Spetznaz became available - that thing was awesome

Very nice! Looking forward to a review / opinion video in the future

7.62 AR style platform suggestions
RostokMcSpoons replied to THE FNG's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Yes, your asking for a self-contradicting gun, a cqb battle rifle. So that's just the one I can think of, as @Tackle mentioned https://uk-airsoft.co.uk/product/jg-hk51-ris/ -
I might be all on my lonesome in this thread Looking around t'web, I don't think there are many of these beautifully built guns actually in user's hands. However, I thought it worth starting this thread just in case, as I have a question (and luckily it might not be super-specific to this model): I didn't realise, but this gun has a built-in MOSFET. I wasn't entirely sure I believed that, and so watched a disassembly video, and indeed there are signal wires leading to an external MOSFET held in the front handguard (along with a blade fuse) Does this mean I'm safe using an 11.1v battery? Presumably the trigger contacts will be safeguarded, but should I be worrying about stripping pistons etc? Just how good a reputation do G&G V3 gearboxes have? (Edit: the more often I consider what I've written, the more I think it might be a silly question: the gun is built like a tank, the gearbox will surely be perfectly capable of being run at a higher RoF. If my Double Eagle can cope thus far, then surely this can too. In my defence I was starting this thread to ask about fitting a MOSFET, before finding out it had one already!)

It's my new favourite gnu ... in terms of handling, and firing it at least. I've not tried it properly at range yet, so it might need some fettling. I'm considering buying an HPA tapped high cap for it, if it's accurate and ranged enough to make the expense properly worthwhile.

The 'What have you just bought' Thread
RostokMcSpoons replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Two G&G high cap mags for the G(EC)36. They're very nicely made, and weren't too pricey at ~£25 each from Bullseye. That means I'm "skirmish-ready" with the G36* as I'll have 2 high caps = 800rds plus 2 mid caps. Which is nice. Also got the Cyma M14 scope mount. Here's some pain for me - it obviously will fit perfectly, but my aborted attempt to fit the cheapo Ali Express copy I bought a few months ago meant I've cut a bigger thread partway into the front bolt hole. Not big enough to accept the supplied bolt for that (it's a stupid half size, M5.5 I think). That means there's not much of the original thread left - and the Cyma bolt isn't quite long enough to reach it now. I've either got to buy the M5.5 tap and commit to the Ali's bolt, or find someone with a Helicoil set, so I can fit the Cyma one. Ho hum. * Assuming the gun shoots straight once it's in The Great Outdoors -
Bah humbug, how did I not even notice that M14 going up, before it disappeared again? I mean, I've already got an M14, and I bought the HK416 you linked to before, but I still have FOMO now about some other ads that might have been-and-gone from the AH site!
