Bios make your barrels much dirtier I was told.?

They're demonstrably almost as indestructible as normal bb's, even if you expose them to moisture and sunlight.  So i think that's a bit silly tbh.

You have to work really hard to break them down.  I just went into my garden and picked up a handful that have been out there for months, they look perfect.

I think they're supposed to break down when exposed to soil bacteria, these may have been protected by pine needle litter.

  2. Hi guys, been a while since I've been around these parts... A combination of being skint through trying out a lower-paid job (in a much better one now thankfully), knackered knees and ankles, and worst of all a bad case of tinnitus caused by a grenade going off right next to me in a very confined doorway in the last game i played... meant I've not played for months.

Luckily the tinnitus has eased off back to where it used to be, so as long a as i wear ear-pro i will try again.

Anyway, glad to see the thread is being useful still!

My beloved m906c has also decided to do something bad to the Falcon ETU again.  I think the damned things are very heat sensitive, so a poorly shimmed gearbox or a badly adjusted motor, or just a lot of single shot spamming can cause it to fail.

So these updates are good info 👍

My alternative thought is to go for one of those drop in hpa engines ... I'll wait until someone beats me to it so i can crib from their experience 😋

  3. I bought an Airtac adapter, and with a simple twist of the regulator knob on the air tank, I made something inside my beloved VFC HK416 perform a Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly.   It went from 'sluggish' to 'busted' with one ill-judged moment.  A bit of metal broke off, not sure if it's from the bolt carrier or the trigger assembly, but the whole thing is jammed together and I've not been able to separate the upper from lower receiver (though I've not tried very hard yet).

So what ever you do, take note of my hard won words of wisdom / caution:

    1.  Ensure your RIF is well lubed and shooting nicely at room temp from gas, so there's no internal stickiness to overcome.

    2. Dial the air pressure in slowly (starting at 'way too low'), in small increments.

The adapter will add a lot to the effective length of the mag well, so maybe invest in some VN mags for AR's, or short MP5 mags, as appropriate?

  4. I bought a cheapo Rossi VSR clone for £100 off a boneyard sale.  I've had some good fun with that.  It's definitely more accurate than all but one of my AEGs so if you want to do some garden target shooting, then something similar should do you well.

When I took it to the field i got 3 kills with my first 3 shots!   The ratio fell away quite spectacularly after that, but i still got quite a bit of enjoyment from it, it's only at the lower end of the power range, so the only real thing in it favour is the extra accuracy at 50m over an AEG, and the inherent stealthier aspect of a single shot rifle.

On the downside, it's easy to fall foul of the minimum engagement distance as the enemy closes in, and end up with a pistol in your hand.  Adds to the adrenaline though!

Well, I had to drag that image out of the history folder, for old time's sake ;) :D

Got me seriously interested in one of those as I enjoyed playing at The Fireplace.  And I've always fancied a pump action just for the giggles.

    Available in black https://bbguns4less.co.uk/products/double-eagle-m58b-tactical-airsoft-shotgun-in-black.html
And with a stock (which I'm perhaps more tempted by): https://bbguns4less.co.uk/products/double-eagle-m58a-tactical-bb-shotgun-m500-in-black.html

Are the tri-shot versions equally as impressive, or is the single-shot the one to go for?

(I am on hiatus again though, after returning from a lengthy layoff due to bad knees (and bad finances): I had a friendly-fire blank grenade land next to me in a confined space and I've got a bad case of tinnitus in my left ear.   It's easing off a bit after a couple of months, but it's been a bit scary.   I can't play airsoft again without some sort of ear pro)

Are you talking about a .209 primer BFG or a 12g blank? I can't imagine the latter would be allowed at indoor site...

Regardless, I use a Delta Mike face pro snood with Comtacs just fine. I'd definitely want both in CQB.

Sorry yes, I do mean the .209, same as I have in my 'nade.  I saw him loading it (and complaining about how a batch of his seem not to work at all).

Yup, I've got foam plugs, and also the Army ones (forget the make).   I have got a snood-style mask somewhere, but that's not really enough protection given the close ranges involved - my torso looks like I rolled around in a bee's nest after Wednesday!  It just seems a shame to have good ear pro and not use it, if there's something halfway between a snood with a mouth guard, and the mesh masks :(

Oh yeah, to those of you with active ear-pro... my only testing with the Howard Leights so far is clapping loudly while I've got them on:  the first clap I hear mostly(?) unimpeded via the pass-through capability - it's only on successive claps that the active side kicks in and really dulls it down.   Are they broken, or is that expected?   It's not like I'm trying to protect my hearing from a second grenade!  Are my claps not loud enough to demonstrate the actual usage?

  7. Wednesday evening was a thoroughly enjoyable event at Special Ops' "The Fireplace" CQB environment.
Plenty of amusing gameplay, all worthy of a write-up by someone who reports such things better than me... but I'm here to ask about protection.

I was taking refuge in a tight corridor when someone (turned out to be a teammate) lobbed a (12-bore primer) grenade at my feet.
Damn, it was loud.   I've already got fecked hearing so it was less than ideal to be in such a confined space with no where for the sound to go but at me.

Towards the end of evening, I pretty much returned the favour except my 'nade didn't go off.   He'd have been kneeling next to it in a similar confined space, so a blessing tbh.

Anyway, I wished I'd had my Howard Leight active ear pro on, but the darned things don't fit with my One Tigris mesh mask.   I value my teeth and face too, so I've always chosen the mask over the earpro, but this has convinced me I need both!

So - any good suggestions for face masks that are compatible with wearing ear defenders?

(My usual mask is the one with the integrated ear guards, but I've tried the version without and that still has strapping and buckles that get in the way of the ear cups)

  8. I've just become a member of the MP5 Owner's Club, so here's my rather dull pic of my gat.

It's purchased from the Classified's at a sensible price for a Secutor (which is probably an Ares under the skin, but I've seen that different manufacturers do different models, so this might actually be something else.  One crosses one's fingers, doesn't one?)   The externals are pretty good for a full polymer RIF, and it's wanged some BB's to the end of the garden quite accurately, so happy with it so far!

Setup - Acetech Blaster C for tonight's CQB shenanigans, and with a Cyma fixed stock and old school foregrip supplied with the gnu.

    MP5.jpg.e2b10e4618861e76d420b64e4f8fb0f8.jpg

It'll be enough for me to see how I get on with the MP5 scenario in the field... as long-term I'll be looking for a Classic Army full-metal, or maybe a TM or a VFC GBB variant.
It certainly feels very handy, and I'm already enjoying the Die Hard vibes very muchly.

The decent news for any wannabe MP5 owners is that two mags sit very nicely in my polymer shell M4 mag holders (hence the inclusion in the pic).   So I don't currently feel the need to invest in a new chest rig or alternative belt setup.

Assuming we mean just do nothing , absolutely nothing to it then I’ve Had great results from a pair of Specna edge 2.0 models , recently picked up one of the new WELL WE-10 series ( Sig Rattler clones)  and it absolutely rips , real fun little gun and although my distaste for polymer body’s when they should be monkey metal it’s really quite impressive , trademarked to a fashion , internally it’s running like a boss . At around £170 it’s looking like a great value gun so far.

Interesting you should say that about the Well gun, as this one was linked in a promo email I got a couple of days ago...

    https://www.socomtactical.net/well-we09k-ak-12-aeg-assault-rifle/

And I have to say it looks rather good!  If the internals are up to snuff, it's maybe a decent option to cover the AK side of the equation

  10. The Specna Prime's look very interesting... A decent base gun with a brushless motor and a higher-end control unit.

I've  loved my Double Eagle M906C but given i had an overheating issue when spamming semi auto, to the point the Falcon fire control failed, then I'm slightly more reticent about recommending it.  Currently it's not quite set up correctly, sounds a bit shrieky and still prone to getting toasty, but when i lend it to people to try they're still really impressed with it, it's the most accurate gun I've got, and honestly that's just such an important attribute.

One make that's been left out of the suggestions so far is Novritsch.  They seem to be solid even if the branding carries it's own peculiar baggage.

  11. You're a bit confused?  I'm as confuzzled as feck  :D

Maybe the bigger o-ring is at the interface of the pressure gauge to the bottle?  I've seen mention of 'top bonnet' in some diagrams for other bottles, perhaps that's the specific one I need.
But info seems surprisingly thin on the ground.

I pinged an email to one of the retailers.   They know the right ring, but don't have stock.   They'll order some up.   It'll cost me in p&p but at least I'll end up with the right thing, hopefully!

  12. Bah humbug.   The o-rings arrived but are the wrong size for my Dye LT bottle, they're ~13mm internal diameter, and the diameter of the recess is 11mm.

The original o-rings internal diameter was somewhere in the 9-11mm range, difficult to tell without the missing bit.

Having had a quick scout around eBay again, all the ones aimed at paintballers are the same 13mm size I got.   So I'm thinking an assortment set from Amazon/eBay/Screwfix/local plumbers' supplies  might be a better bet (and faster to get too).

I'm aware these things are made in a variety of materials - are there any I should avoid, or are they functionally the same at the pressures involved here?

    Edit:
Going by the colour charts, yellow = nitrile, so I'll go for that in preference.
Oh yeah, and on the right-hand pic, you can see the metal piece inside the chamber is 'prong down'.   I presume it's meant to be other way up when it's all assembled?

  13. I bought the line from HPA UK, and it's fine - but when I tried to fill up my Dye LT bottle, the darned thing leaked.
Turns out I mangled the o-ring (or it was old and just split) when I swapped over to the Balystyk regulator.

    So I need a new o-ring.   HPA UK seem to have a standard £7 p&p charge, so that's something I can't stomach on a 50p item.
Is it a standard size that I can just find one in my local B&Q?   (it seems to be ~10mm inner diameter, judging from the bit I fished out of my bin)
Or could I buy a selection box off Amazon?  (At least then I'd have a bunch of them for my outlay)

  14. The fitting on the right is the tail coming off the magazine adapter... I presume I'll be aiming for about 80psi into the gat, so a 200psi line would be fine.

I have a proper chunky metal line coming off my own scuba tank, so don't need another whip line...  I think!

Watching YT vidz (which of course I should have done earlier) looks like a simple line with quick disconnects on each end will do just fine.  I perhaps need a key for the pressure regulator, though I can turn it just with my thumb pressing down on it so far... Not sure if that'll be the same once it's pressurised, so best get one?
