  1. Are there kit limits? Each team has a different colour tag, and each player gets two of their team colour, one to attach to the front of them and one to the back.
  2. Well I'll be there again, hopefully with a caravan this year, and more of my friends. But more to the point, Delta!?
  3. What are some CQB or Bullpup rifles that use standard M4/M16 magazines, but aren't just another M4?

Well, I go out for a day and come back to 11 notifications...

Evil, do they use standard STANAG mags in airsoft?

  4. I have an X3200 too, pretty decent, got it because of recommendations, and my local site uses them, so the idea was they should be more in sync with each other than if I got a different brand. Was £60 or something from HK, took a few weeks, but went through customs with no extra charges, so beats the £90 odd some places are charging. Would definitely recommend.
  5. What are VFC guns like? Specifically their M4/M16 range, in comparison to G&P? I've read comparisons on American forums, all saying VFC are better, but then, they say G&P gears, pistons and motors need replacing, I've had mine for 2½ years without even opening the gearbox. (I may have asked this question before, can't remember.)

In my experience? Excellent externals. Really well cast and machined aluminium used throughout on most of their stuff, steel in as much places as possible. But gearboxes have a lot to be desired. Gears not particularly strong, any ACM set will out perform them. Pistons are weak and horrible. Gearbox shells look nice but not too strong. In fact, any of the plastics used by VFC in internals seem to suck balls.

I see them, along with G&P and a few other outfits as bodykits you dump up...

Forgot to say, the hops have a habit of resetting themselves when you release the bolt cover too.

That's not too much of a worry, I have spare hop units too. I basically have a full spare set of M4 internals. Any idea if there are any cheaper HK416s with decent externals but crappy internals that I can just swap out?

  6. Well, MS Office stopped working, ended up having to reinstall Windows. Brilliant.

  7. Is the gun completely stock? If so, then it could be a few things causing the veering to the left. 1. The stock hop up is cheap and not very good, as is the rubber. It could be deformed, putting more pressure on one side than the other. You could need an entire new hop unit, just a new rubber, or even just a hop arm. 2. The stock barrel could be a cause of the problem, with two possibilities: it could simply be bent, I've seen people say this about Well stock barrels, or, the cut outs at the end could be misaligned, the notches that hold it in place in the unit or hold the rubber on not lining up with the hole cut for hop to be applied - this was the case in my L96. If it's either of these, you're going to need a new barrel. 3. The outer barrel, could be causing the problem in a few ways: the mag catch that screws into the hop unit, through the outer barrel, holding it all together could be misaligned, meaning when you put the gun together, even if the outer barrel is straight, the inner barrel and hop won't be, if this is the case, it's simple to fix - loosen the screw and adjust accordingly. The outer barrel holes cut into it could be misaligned, meaning you'll probably need a new outer barrel, or maybe you could drill the holes out a bit to make them the right place/size/shape. It could also be that the outer barrel isn't aligned properly, as there's a little play in it, take the stock off and loosen the grub screw in the bottom of the bolt housing to twist the outer barrel to align it. 4. A combination of all of the above issues. Regarding getting a new hop and inner barrel, which are the most likely two to be causing the problem, you have multiple options for each: Hop Units. 1. You could source another stock hop unit as a replacement in hope that it is built better, or you could get a new hop arm, or both even. 2. Get an ASPUK hop unit, this gives a better air seal than the stock one, comes with a better hop arm, and uses the same adjustment method. Only thing is, you'll need to use AEG cut barrels and hop rubbers. 3. The most expensive, get a PDI hop unit. Has advantages of even better air seal than the ASPUK hop unit, has two hop arms, which can be fiddly and annoying to set up, but once done correctly, will allow you to fine adjust for BBs veering off to the sides as well as up and down. Once again, you'll need AEG barrels and hop rubbers for this, and they can be very fiddly to adjust - the Allen key that comes with it isn't any good for adjusting once the stock is on the gun, and it's an extremely small Allen key, I believe 1.27mm. Barrels. 1. Once again, source another stock barrel - I wouldn't advise this, as you probably won't notice much improvement, they're a very basic and cheap brass barrel.# 2. Depending on what hop unit you get, you'll either want an AEG cut or specific L96 cut barrel. You can get moderately priced tight bore barrels quite easily, personally, I wouldn't go lower than 6.03mm inner diameter, but other people have claimed better results from a 6.01mm. I suggest MadBull for a decent price:performance ratio. 3. Go the expensive, but best, route once again and get a PDI barrel. They make both AEG cut and L96 cut at the perfect length for their hop unit, you'll struggle to find another AEG cut one at the right length (495mm), and they're a very very high quality. People say that diameter is important, maybe it is, but I think it's pretty negligible, with some people claiming better results from 6.01 and others 6.23, barrel quality, material and finish is much, much more important. I currently have a PDI 6.05mm inner barrel in my L96, and this far out performs my previous barrel, a MadBull 6.03mm. Giving me better consistency, better range, accuracy and a higher FPS (50-60 higher) - meaning I can reach that 500 limit by putting less strain on the rest of the internals. If you have any other problems or questions regarding the L96, feel free to PM me or ask on here, I'll get a notification either way. I've had my L96 for a few years now, and despite it not currently working correctly (completely jammed it, waiting to get home from uni before I can get it sorted), I think I've encountered every problem possible with the gun, and I've had 3 sets of internals; stock ones, full ASPUK with MadBull barrel, and full LayLax/PDI, and pretty much any mix/combination of the three possible.
  8. Just realised I've had my M16 for almost 2 and a half years and I've never taken it apart further than splitting the receiver to clean the barrel or for transport. Trigger response has recently become noticeably sluggish, may be time to take the gearbox apart soon...

Yeah G&P, still shoots consistently, has lost no FPS at all, rate of fire is the same on the same battery which I got at same time as the gun. Only thing is the trigger response.

Probably a build of carbon/arcing on the contacts and old grease getting gummed up.

      Liam Porter

Yeah should think so gun's had a lot of use, especially on semi-auto and short bursts. I think it's done pretty well for over 2 years with stock parts still.

  9. Silentassassin, that's a really good replica, one thing I noticed, which would make it spot on, is the front and rear sights on yours need to be swapped over
  10. Seeing pictures of people's AKs recently has made me kinda want one...

They're very cool and fun to use. My dad (Oh wait this is his account not mine :|) got a CYMA AK47 when it was 120 quid at Patrol Base (should've been 190+) IT'S A BEAST! The blowback is superb too, great piece of kit.

  11. Almost 2 days ago... what have you done?
  12. I noticed MadBull's are silvery-grey, and heard the Guarder's were changing from tan too, to comply with laws or something or other. I found some King Arms ones in the UK that are tan, so may get a pot of those before they sell out and become rarer.
  13. I think it's time to replace the M16 with something a little more CQB-friendly... So, G&P M4 Sentry, or G&P SR16 URX Short? Or someone throw other ideas for CQB weapons, that take M4/M16 mags at me please.

Of those two I'd go sentry, however I quite like the look of the viper and autobot.

I quite like the Viper, but can't see why it's over £100 more expensive than the Sentry.

What weapons other than M4s are good for CQB and use STANAG mags?

SCAR L CQC, FN2000, SA80.. I think Redwolf or AisoftGI did a thing about this on Youtube.

  14. Looking for a rifle bag for next weekend, anyone got any recommendations? It needs to have enough room for a standard length M16, so about 1m, also, cheaper the better.

Ed, what bag do you currently have? And would I be okay walking from my accommodation to the coach (about 1 mile) with something like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Deluxe-black-rifle-case-gun-slip-bag-padded-pocket-shooting-tactical-air-carbine-/200906673302?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item2ec6f88c96#shId

That'd be totally fine, yeah. I've actually forgotten what the bag I have is called or who makes it, but it cost me £70 at The Airsoft Arms fair a couple of years ago. It's on the way out actually, lots of ripped seams on it.

Complicatedly, you'll be needing the most you can utilise for 500fps.

  17. Made a topic last night, it's got 0 views still. Basically asking which parts would be better to put in a 500 FPS AEG, full set of Lonex internals or a full set of Guarder internals. So, a few quick responses to this status with which to choose and why would be nice :).

My local site at home (FFZ) allows 500 FPS DMRs, and so does Skirmish Airsoft Nottingham (which is near Uni). I'll keep the stock spring and get a 400 FPS spring, so I have it all covered. It's just deciding on which brand internals to get.

Fair play, might I suggest, ( sorry if this breaks any forum rule) try the Longrange AEG's section on airsoft sniper forum. The guys on there seem to have some pretty sweet setups and have tried most of the combinations available. Also because they are very results driven they tend to base their recommendations on hard evidence and testing.

    4. Liam Porter

      Liam Porter

Pretty certain it doesn't break forum rules. I haven't made a topic on there myself, but I've read a lot on there, and there's already a topic asking the exact same question, which is where I got recommendations for Guarder parts from. I then took that recommendation to see what /r/airsoft on Reddit thought, and they mostly suggested Lonex instead of Guarder.

  20. Still wanting to get myself a DMR, thinking about a G&P M14, VFC HK417, or VFC Scar H SSR. Any recommendations as to which to get, or which ones to avoid, and why?

Okay thanks, I'll have a look and price up upgrades for all three. Pretty certain the M14 will turn out cheapest though, it's about £200 cheaper to start with.

    3. M_P

      M_P

and with a ver7 gearbox, it's likely to last longer than the others- assuming the Scar is also a version 2

    4. Liam Porter

      Liam Porter

Looked up the Scar, yeah it's a V2. Will get the M14, the VFC's propriety gearbox would annoy me too much trying to find parts, and the V2 gearboxes aren't really strong enough to withstand 500 FPS reliably.

  21. Are you talking about the VSR? If so, do you mean extend the barrel through the silencer, or have a piece of barrel in the silencer, that is then detachable? If you mean the first, then there'll be negligible range or accuracy benefits from having the longer barrel, you'd probably gain more from having the silencer filled with foam to quieten the gun. If you mean the second, then, no offence but, I must say that's an awful idea. The barrel won't be consistent, it won't align perfectly every time, and will result in worse range and accuracy.
  22. Well from looking at it, it seems it might actually fire, and have a magazine that loads the next round automatically. It does what it's supposed to do, and as it's made out of K'NEX, you can't get any more realistic than that with it.
  23. Is there actually supposed to be something bad about that Ian? I've made something similar with K'NEX before, that actually fired the small green pieces quite powerfully, or the slightly larger white pieces pretty accurately.
