To me it sounds like with the Maxx Model hop unit upgrade was matched to the wrong length nozzle, and with the Kythera engine the nozzle is still the wrong length. Maxx do specify an expected nozzle length with their hop units, with the three RIF's I have personally upgraded to them all having their nozzles changed at the same time, and they work perfectly (and all showed a noticeable joule increase). Regarding your BB curve the inner barrel may have just twisted slightly or maybe the nub (if you're not using a solid metal one that sits perfectly in the Maxx hop unit).

@ak2m4Finally got around to sorting out my semi-boneyard CMYA MP5K, needed a v3 spring guide from you as I disassembled the gearbox last weekend and the ball bearing cage just fell apart So, running your brushless motor along with a GATE Titan v3, and I've now a nice little nippy SMG 😁 AB is set to manual and zero percent, but anything else you recommend for GATE Titan users with your motor?

Well... some people actually can and do. There are some who with an AAP-01, along with the Loki + appropriate bucking + inner barrel to support an appropriate bucking's patch + 0.40g or heavier BB's, can be effective at DMR / sniper ranges. If I had the money my AAP-01 would be setup like this, shooting 0.40g, but I've not yet won the lottery

Which model of hop unit is it? For example is is the M4A-PRO that comes with the solid metal concave nub? An option for you, if you wish to lift heavy BB's, is to go with both a Maple Leaf inner barrel and the MR bucking as the ML inner barrel is intentionally designed to support the unique features of the MR bucking. In combination with the appropriate nub for your hop unit you'll be able to lift very heavy BB's so that's one thing ticked off of the list of DMR tasks.

And site's always ask at chrono for confirmation of how your controller is configured, hooking up GATE GCS or looking for the right blinking Perun LED's Personally I've zero interest in Milsim and the four places I semi-regularly play at have no "real steel" rules for DMR's, so I'm fine as well. However, under all the camo I have now on my DMR they'd only be able to identify the base gun if I removed it all.

@Jmason98 That's shit isn't it If it turns out you're stuck with it then Negative Airsoft has a very long CYMA MP5K video on his Patreon channel that shown pretty much a complete disassembly and rebuild, so really useful for the v3 gearbox MP5K's (I've finally bought a GATE Titan v3 so started to work on my "boneyard" CYMA MP5K at the weekend that I bough almost a year ago, but I'm a bit stuck as the ball bearing cage on the spring guide is knackered so waiting for AK2M4 to open his web shop again to get one)

My airsoft only loads when there's no mag

I'm going to be the annoying one and say unless your heart is set on the kick from a metal slide going back and forth the AAP-01 is a way better and cheaper choice (and uses Gen 4 mags). You benefit from better gas efficiency, a way better hop unit, and better accuracy. To get my son's WE EU17 G4 to match a stock AAP-01, for hop and accuracy, needed a Maple Leaf hop unit + bucking + better inner barrel.

It's hard to justify but I'd take a Titan over an Aster, and do you really need the Expert firmware or are you buying the kit so you get the adapter to use GCS? Also with a Titan you'll be able to use Maxx Model triggers. Dump the Nuprol motor and get a 22 TPA one from @ak2m4, the one with the "fan", so much better and probably cheaper. Personally I'd drop the Prometheus everything and go with Maple Leaf for the inner barrel and marry it with an MR bucking to get great hop (an out of the box r-hop that require very little pressure with the right bucking hardness). Also, if they're the same price I'd drop the Gate hop unit and go with a Max Model M4A-PRO as it has so many better nub options that come with it (the hard concave nub with the MR bucking's is great). Finally think about swapping the spring in-front of the hop unit with rubber o-rings, you get a better air seal plus less vibration, so you may then get away with an M105.

Damn, if only I knew this sooner, I'd just slip a few carboard boxes from Aldi over my body parts and I'd be invisible 🤯

Umm... not if you're dressed in Adidas trackies and one of those CoD skull mask thingies, you stick out like a sore thumb and are begging to be hit. Are you intentionally being a troll?

So because of some idiots, that could and should have been dealt with by the marshals, a legitimate style of playing (where some may have spent quite a bit of time and money) is being cancelled. That's not really fair is it, but I suppose it absolves a few marshals from having to do their job correctly.

If you live close to Dogtag then maybe get yourself over to Socom Tactical or Surplus Store before you play and get a stronger VSR spring, and you may be lucky and they can help you fit it there and then if you bring your pew pew with you

Are teams with red armbands in the disadvantage?
Fatboy40 replied to ParHunter's topic in General Discussion
If you want to get really unfair play at Camouflage Airsoft in Alton in Hampshire, where the teams are either bright orange armband or no armband at all. This is in a woodland site with lots of ferns during the summer, so it's as biased as hell (I still play there in the summer though as it's a local site with good games / marshals). I've complained about it but they still do it. -
Personally, in GBBP's, I've found they work quite well with heavy BB's. I've no evidence but I've a feeling that the lubricant in most commercial green gases takes the edge off of their grip so they work better than a traditional bucking due to this (they're bloody terrible in AEG's though, the grip on them is way to extreme).
-
It's the above that I've found with my playing around with mechanicals as well. For the first point I now run a full cylinder in my v2 DMR with an M120 spring, I swapped to one around a month ago from a 4/5 and M130, and the increased air volume has 100% increased noise (just look at a G&G Firehawk to see this in action). If you're not shooting heavy BB's, and have a very good air seal with a 3/4 cylinder, an M95 spring can make a huge difference to noise. For me the biggest thing that helped my AEG on points two and three were a foam suppressor, changed the "twang" to more of a "thump", and swapping from a spring on my inner barrel to o-rings. Do what you can to try and change how the rifle "resonates", and I've found that polymer rather than metal receivers also help.

Of course it depends upon the size of your glasses but I've a few pairs of Guard Dog Evader 2 OTG goggles and they're great (I can't comment on if they fog badly or not as I use an ExFog)

Which retailers in the UK accept Just-Cos Cosplayer Insurance?
Fatboy40 replied to superwok's topic in General Discussion
Very interesting as I think my younger brother has this as he has a D-Day used Willy's jeep and a Dodge truck. So this covers you for all RIF's and not just those that mimic weapons from a specific conflict / period in time? -
Which retailers in the UK accept Just-Cos Cosplayer Insurance?
Fatboy40 replied to superwok's topic in General Discussion
Exactly, and in the context of this many players using HPA will have multiple site memberships as being a "member" is often a requirement to be able to use the sites own compressors or dive tanks for refills. I'm leaning more towards GiantKiwi's point of view here. UKARA just has I believe three points of data (potentially four), the players name / site / their UKARA number. If we follow the proposed... # A system that stores a profile/ portfolio of verifiable activity, such as pictures direct from registered sites, payment receipts, registered address etc. ... we're into the realm of substantial data on an individual that will uniquely identify them and can be used as a method of conducting fraud / targeted phishing etc. This leads onto knowledge of what the UK's Information Commissioners Office requires, nominated data controllers, associated legal liabilities etc. and this has overheads that will cost so need to be funded in some way. I just think that we're lucky that UKARA exists and all it costs is around a £25 cost to be a member of a site we play at anyhow (and the site gets a little more money so that it can turn a profit and still be available to us). -
@Colin Allen It's subtlety different from yours but I'm going to get one of these next pay day... https://www.ptssyndicate.com/product-page/pts-ep-series-enhanced-polymer-m4-grip-epg-for-aeg-erg-olive-drab ... as the base plate online looks like it may not foul up on the motors end bell, but we'll see (either way it's nicer than that on my DE M908A, as long as it doesn't put the motor at an unusual angle).

@Wegalaxy I don't know if your forum name is a clue but if it is then you've already got a pistol that's better than a Vorsk EU17 / 18, with the magical AAP-01 being a further step better but costing way less. If I was you I'd be checking what type of mags your WE Galaxy takes, not sure if it's the gen 4 or 5 gas router, and buying a WE Glock that uses the same. However, the hop unit in the WE Glocks is a bit pants, nowhere near as good as that in the AAP-01, so to lift heavy BB's you'll want the Maple Leaf hop unit (which my son has in his WE EU17 using 0.32G BB's, and you can then go further with a Hadron Fang / H plate).

The CYMA MP5K motor plate fits perfectly... https://i.imgur.com/7ScBKmn.jpg ... so that's me off to buy a GATE Titan v3 then and not tell my wife 😬

It was tested outside of the pistol grip, so no gearbox to spin up at all. The battery was at 11.83v at the time, and 11.77v now, so should be enough. I need to try it tomorrow using a GATE Titan v2, with the same battery, and see what happens...
