  1. I've settled into a groove now with my DMR and becoming a mobile bush, it also suits the fact I'm in my early 50's and really don't like running around (which I leave to others). I'm happy that my AEG DMR is the best it will ever be, with doubts that HPA would improve anything at all consistency / range wise and I don't fancy the hassle of bottles and lines. A little bit of my brain always wonders what gameplay would be like though with a good bolt action and if I should bite the bullet and invest in one and the many upgrades over time. Currently I shoot 0.40g with my DMR, it's almost spot on for 1.6 joules at this weight, and is accurate up to 80 meters or so in the right weather. For those of you with both a well tuned DMR, and a well tuned bolt action, do you really notice that much of a difference between the two? (range, accuracy, consistency etc.). I quite like the DMR life, in that I can hide and be sneaky but when needed be a little more rapid moving around within my MED. A bit of me worries that the bolt action life in comparison could be a bit more dull, waiting for the perfect shot, and all you need is a player to spot the incoming BB / move a little and all the effort is wasted?
  2. The prime reason why I now rarely play at my most local site, where it's somewhat become a battle of who has the fittest people who can sprint on their team and claim the areas that cause bottlenecks I'd 100% play The Mall if it still existed as Z-Mart is great but it's too dark and scary for me (I'm a wimp).
  3. My son's backup AEG, a modified G&G Firehawk with a 160mm inner barrel (120mm is stock length for it), says otherwise. Shooting 0.32g, with a Max Model M4A-PRO + o-rings rather than a spring in front of the hop unit, it has a huge amount of range and is very accurate. Looking at inner barrel length in isolation is not the whole picture. (I've also a CYMA MP5K, running a Snipetor r-hop patch + Modify flat bucking + 0.32g BB's, and it's range and accuracy is also way better than you'd expect)
  4. Don't use this very close location / proximity to assume they're the same business. You may already know this but like minded manufacturers in China often congregate in very small areas, often unique businesses but they all use very local suppliers for parts / sub-assemblies.
  5. I've no experience of either, but things I'd consider... Maybe add the Nonvritsch SSR90 into your shortlist. I've always been told Krytac use many unique to them parts in their RIF's, so beware vendor lock in from them. If any of them have the Perun P90 controller installed as standard this would be a big plus point. ... and don't forget to search the forum...
  6. I'm really not sure it's worth it when AK2M4 sell complete spring guides for a very fair price. However, like many airsoft things there's no guarantee that they'll fit all gearbox shells perfectly (especially if QD).
  7. And now the uncomfortable question... are you quitting Airsoft? (If yes UK sales of TAGinn rounds will drop off a cliff)
  8. Hijacking your thread I hope this doesn't mean you won't be around for the Red Alert "Battelsim Lite" in October ?
  9. Red Alert is 100% my favourite site now, roll on 27/10/2024 and the next Battle Sim, and the sausage + mash + gravy was lovely on Sunday...
  10. ... just don't forget a little Loctite / threadlock on the motor height screw
  11. Agree that it sounds like the perfect test bed for playing around with a very cheap controller from T238, maybe even bought from AliExpress to make costs lower
  12. Ding ding ding, we have a winner That's the joy of mechanical trigger contacts and no "controller" in the gearbox that has optical sensors for the sector gear. Controllers, optical sensors, and "cycle control" make life so much easier.
  13. Does this occur for both semi and full auto?
  14. My airsoft headgear journey has followed the Michael Fassbender "Perfection" meme, three different things until perfection was achieved. I prefer real head protection: Started with a Viper Tactical baseball cap, occasionally using a Jack Pike camo one, and both suffered with the same problems... too thin / fell off too easily / peak would catch on things / BB's magically find any gaps. I said real head protection: Then a good FMA ballistic helmet, a very large one that fitted my melon head. I was very happy, I could mount an ExFog, but then being sneaky came along and it didn't fit the bill (but has been passed to my son who happy with it). Perfection: Then onto a boonie for trying to pretend to be a bush or a clump of bracken (with added mesh etc. and my ExFog). But, ignoring the camo side of things, I found that it was "perfection" in that... it's light on my head / sits well with my Delta Mike / the fabric has some "give" rather than a restrictive helmet / it's so easy to store in my kit bag / it has a wire brim so I can mold it to by head (no BB gaps) / the material is thick enough to protect me but I will notice hits. I love my "UF PRO Striker Gen.2 Boonie" and need to buy another to craft ready for winter.
  15. From AliExpress these are a few of the things that I use as a sneaky DMR / ghillie player... # https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006286607823.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.2e731802OFqqTp (The quality of this is way better than the price would indicate, it's practically the Novritsch shoulder piece. Good points are the long arms (for me they go a little over my gloves), it can fit a larger chest, a chest rig sits happily in the middle, and it happily takes acrylic paint. The leaves are not that great though, far too "plasticy", and I've ripped them all of and used mixtures of mesh and raffia etc.) # https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005633252158.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_allItems_or_groupList.0.0.315b7f5dPjzwSk&pdp_npi=4%40dis!GBP!£1.92!£1.92!!!2.44!2.44!%402103879317254533705743708e59d0!12000033835257480!sh!UK!896709842!X (Unfortunately this store no longer sells the darker green mesh that I've bought so many meters of, but use this as "halo screen". It's a little thinner than the Kicking Mustang product so you need to use a few more layers when making the "leaf" you thread through a cable tie loop. Also it takes acrylic paint / die.) # https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005425556279.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.30.2e731802OFqqTp (I use this for brown "leaves", a mixture of colours, and it take acrylic paint / die well so you can just buy a lighter shade and die it what you want.) I use this with a boonie + goggles with custom Hero Shark mesh + a Delta Mike, and all of these have had the above "mesh" etc. added to them. It took me a while, and cost probably as much as a bigger name product to get the shoulder piece and mesh right (I had to kiss a few frogs before finding the right AliExpress items), but I could now knock up some good camo for a cheap price.
  16. You'd be very surprised what's available on Ali Express and how good some of it is, and how easy it is to improve it. When I get home I'll add some links for the benefit of you and others. (For example I use a ghillie shoulder piece, that's almost identical to the Novritsch one, but which is half the price. Also there's mesh available that's almost as good as the Mustang mesh but a third of the price).
  17. Of course they're legit, where else are you supposed to buy Geoff's BB's from
  18. @Enid_Puceflange Would you sell the 2x 40 Mike's on their own?
  19. That's @Skullchewer's job with his TAGinn rounds
  20. God bless Red Alert near Newbury...
  21. Maxx Model M4 hop units come with three unique ones, use the link to a photo I added above, and let us know which one you're using (and you did not get the full three then that's immediately suspect). And this substantial over hopping was with it set to zero / 0 on the dial?
  22. Looking at the M4P-PRO it uses the exact same nubs as the M4A-PRO... https://www.maxxmodel.com/image/cache/catalog/MX-HOP010MP_01-1000x1000.jpg ... the rubber cylinder, soft foam square or the solid concave, so if the OP is still getting too much hop with it set to zero / 0 then there's something very amiss ?
  23. Not 100% the same, as it's an AEG, but I use a Maxx Model M4A-PRO + the solid concave nub + Maple Leaf MR 60 degree bucking + 0.32g BB's and it shoots perfectly with a huge amount of range (and power wise it's almost dead on the 1.14J limit). I've three RIF's with the M4A-PRO in, they all shoot incredibly well, however this hop unit is like an F1 car in that you need to have it setup perfectly to get the best from it (nozzle etc. need to be perfectly matched). I agree as another has said that 70 degree is too hard for the UK. A question for the OP, do your BB's still "shoot straight to the moon" even with zero hop applied?
  24. You already have one, on your keyboard, called "Home".
  25. @Skullchewer The game on Sunday 28/7/2024, that had a drone flying around, is there any footage available from it?
