They have described it as an airsoft gun, but it is not something that you could use to play airsoft at any level.  It is an extremely cheap toy.

This. Turning up at a site and thinking you'll do well with one of those pieces of crap is like entering a F1 race you your mum's old fiesta

That's assuming the OP isn't trolling us

  2. Room inspections and monitoring student's internet usage isn't a new thing. They had them when I was at uni living in halls and that was 25 years ago. They didn't do them often but they certainly happened. I know internet use was also monitored as there was a known case of a student being caught and arrested for looking up underage girls. Airsoft probably gets flagged as firearms related content

  3. I've played at Bunker 51 a few times on their mid week evening games and have enjoyed it. I've heard some people complain it gets too crowded at weekend games and as it's a small site so I can fully believe it

  4. As others have posted, it's probably going to be against the uni's t&cs to keep rifs in halls of residence. The society should be able to advise you on alternatives.

I use a gun bag similar to this when using public transport to get to games.

When I first started I used to use a hard rifle case as it's more secure but I found it actually drew more attention from the public

  5. Welcome. The best way to get started is to book a game at a local site. Check out https://playairsoft.uk/ to find sites in your area.

As for what to buy I recommend renting for your first 3 games as the site will provide you with a gun and face protection so all you'll need to have is decent footwear (many outdoor sites insist you wear boots not trainers as they provide less grip the risk of twisting your ankle is far higher). There are laws governing the sale of airsoft guns so without a site membership you'll be stuck with having to buy a brightly coloured 2 tone gun (assuming you're 18 or over). Renting also means you'll be able to get a better idea of what suits you

Not sure why you’re saying some are bogus defences. I can’t see Firesupport doing anything that was bogus, don’t they run the UKARA system for a start.

I'd guess they're doing it as a sale is a sale. Imo they're dodgy as they can be obtained without ever setting foot on a site

They wouldn't refund or replace, because I'd stuck optics etc onto mine so if you can - chrono it before kitting it out!

Wtf? Simply attaching optics shouldn't make the warranty invalid, that sounds more like the shop looking for excuses to not give a crap. Unless I've missed something

  8. I'd go for a red dot. Imo engagement ranges aren't really long enough to make magnified scopes necessary. Also when I tried it I found that the narrower sight picture made getting on target quickly harder with a scope.

Whatever you go for I highly recommend some sort of lens protection as having them shot out is bloody annoying and expensive to replace
