  1. The difference in airsoft terms is pretty negligible. As has already been said the biggest difference is 7.62 ‘H’ mags will limit what mag pouches you can use.

Other than that the H is marginally heavier, (but the airsoft difference is small), and a bit bigger and bulkier.

Also not sure if it matters to you, but the ‘L’ is no longer in active use by the US military whereas the ‘H’ remains in service.

  2. I can’t say if real steel trigger guards fit, but real steal grips will (although you need to use the original MWS bolt to attach them).

I had a problem with the attachment point from the trigger guard digging into my middle finger. I don’t think a different trigger guard would have fixed this as the issue was actually the bracket where the trigger guard attaches with the roll pin. I fixed it by using some ‘Sugru’ to fill the void and hide the sharp bit. It’s a neat job and looks factory.

ill try and take a picture later today.

  3. I’m pretty sympathetic to the financial position that small businesses find themselves in and agree that the governments response could have been far better.

However given all the advice on social distancing that has been out (including the announcements before the weekend that schools were closing as were pubs and restaurants) I fail to see how a responsible reaction is to get a load of people, many of whom who would otherwise not ever meet, together in order to run around with toy guns...

  4. I managed to get my MWS up to 450 FPS with nothing more than a long barrel and an npas valve (with a small modification) and a squirt of red gas. Although due to joule creep you can hit the allowed FPS on normal green gas by upping the weight of the BBs.

Its also easy to adjust back down with the npas.

  5. I have HSGI Taco’s and the WAS quick release pouches. Both work fine, the HSGI are marginally better, but not enough to justify the extra cost over the WAS pouches.

For a double closed pouch I only have the WAS ones. They work really well so I haven’t looked for any other options.

  6. I have a stand alone Mk18 barrel currently fitted to my MWS and I also have the original short CQBR barrel.

Other than a difference in how the barrel nut fits (to hold the free footing rail on the MK18) I can’t tell any meaningful difference in the length.

A different flash hider would make more difference.

  7. If they have a proper AR15 vice block no problem it’s what they are for. If not then no way, you would be better off buying a bench vice and receiver block yourself, as it would be cheaper than a new MWS receiver.

A similar effect can be achieved with a bench vice some wooden blocks and an old towel, but it’s riskier and I would expect  a professional to have the proper equipment especially when it’s relatively cheep and has so much utility.

  8. There are some used MWS mags in the classifieds. The seller is nothing to do with me, but putting it there for information.

It does seem that MWS mags hold their value better than most other things in Airsoft.

I looked, but I already have 13 mags and that’s heavy enough when I carry them all...

  9. After some thought I have decided to run my DMR upper on .32g BBs the same as my SBR upper. The main driver behind this was I want to be able to use tracer without having to adjust the hop and FPS every time and .32 is the heaviest I can find.

The DMR site limit on .32 is 356fps, any advice on the best way to get there?

  10. Here is the first iteration of my new DMR upper for my MWS. Once I have the internals sorted I’ll probably convert it with a MK12 front end. At the moment it’s throwing out .36g bbs at 300 FPS with just the benefit of a longer barrel and some joule creep so getting a DMR FPS on .4g bbs shouldn’t be too much harder.

I don’t really do the sniper thing enough to warrant a new gun so when an upper came up on the classifieds for a good price it was hard to pass up.

  11. You can strip the magazines down and check the o rings and clean the follower and spring. I don’t do it every skirmish, unless it’s really muddy, usually every 6 months is more than enough.

Otherwise a general wipe down and storing them with a squirt of green gas is all I do after most skirmishes.

  12. I’m just about to start on doing a MK12 DMR upper for my MWS Having and I’m interested to hear peoples views on what inner barrels I should be considering. I’m aiming to get in the 450 FPS range with the gun locked to semi.

At the moment my choices seem to be between (1) a 410mm long ORGA Lex 6.05mm barrel or (2) a 370mm long Prometheus 6.03mm barrel. Anyone had any experience with either? Which one will give me the best accuracy and FPS boost? I have the 250mm Prometheus in my current MK18 build and in that context it has been really good.

I can also see that G&P do a 6.03, 410mm barrel, anyone used one or have any thoughts?

I already have an npas on order and will be reaching out to buy a new brass nub tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for any opinions.

  13. I have used loads of WE green gas in my MWS. Its the same stuff as Nuprol 2.0 and it has always worked fine for me (providing the temperature was reasonable). If it’s colder then red gas (Nuprol 3) is good to keep you going.

for those that got the RA-tech npas - did you see an improvement in consistency as well?

Not sure exactly what you mean. If you are referring to consistency between shots then no, it makes no difference. The most consistent option is probably the stock valve as it has no moving parts that can get moved out of position (I haven’t had this problem with the MWS version of the NPAS, but on the WE version there are reports of the screw working loose during firing and thus the FPS changing.)

If you mean between skirmishes or changes to different brands/types of gas, the NPAS will mean your rifle has much more consistent FPS as you can adjust it to take account of different gas pressures or ambient temperatures (it only takes 5 or 10 minutes with a chrono) so you can always be under site limits, but never so down on power that you can’t hit anyone beyond 10 metres.

Yep +1 on this, I'm still a Mws noob and I was wondering the same - I'm basically stock less an angry gun MPA nozzle running on Coleman propane shooting 340fps on a new mag with 0.3 BLS precision bb's ending up around 30fps lower at shot 35.  Is this normal and if so how can you get consistently and accuracy with such wide variables?

    Cheers

You will always get some cool down with green gas it’s unavoidable. The problem is worse when the ambient temperature is lower. However 30 FPS seems a lot unless you are spamming the trigger.

Have you down the green gas mod to your mags? If you have you may just be over filling them (do you see a lot of gas vapour come from the barrel and ejection port when firing?) This makes the cool down a lot worse.

Alternatively try running red gas and using the NPAS to regulate FPS. Red gas is less susceptible to low ambient temperature.

Final thought, consistency does get better with use as the silicone in the green gas penetrates and softens/swells the rubber bucking.
