  1. I had a good day at Worthing Airsoft yesterday. I was running the full ghillie again and a dmr under the new power limits, which are finally at 1.88j. My trusty old nuprol ak21 (externally at least) has decided it now hates my epm1 short mags and my other short mags, but runs the nuprol midcaps just fine. It was comfortably hopping .45s to 70, so I was having a nice day with it, at least after I managed to work out the issue with the mags. The morning was a bit damp, but the rain cleared up by the time games started, and the ground was dry so a pretty comfy day. Games were mostly domination. Pretty standard fun game type, can't really argue with it. We also had a variation on "escort the uncooperative marshall in a silly costume to various bases" with a big rabbit for the Easter theme. That's always a fun time, and probably one of the best modes Worthing does. It's just fun, which can be lost on some game types. We did have a new game mode, airstrike. Collecting items to call in an airstrike on a base, which is then unusable. Most airstrikes wins the game. Fun game type stolen from ai500, probably the one good thing to come out of that event 😂 So nice day, lots of sneaking, surprising rentals and regulars. Lots of counter-ghillie work. Though towards the end my pistol vented it's gas, so I dove to cover.... into a bunch of stinging nettles.... with fingerless gloves. That was a very unfun time, and I didn't even get a kill!
  2. A real shame to hear after the last two have been good (not perfect, but fun weekends). This time it sounds like it wasn't just unfortunate circumstances like ebbw vale being understaffed or having crappy barriers. This is just incompetence from the AI team running the whole thing. If Jason broke off to make his own thing run with people who at least know how to lock a regulator, I'd be willing to give that a bash.
  3. Best thing is to shoot across a sunny area. Once the BB goes into shade it can just vanish.
  4. Staff attitude will make or break a site. It's one of the reasons I feel very lucky to have worthing as my closet site. I didn't see any of the bad hit taking personally, but I did overhear some marshall's reminding players of the rules. And I heard about the threats second hand, glad it was dealt with immediately. The guy got shot in the plate carrier with a little bb and threatened to hit someone. Ridiculous attitude over playing make believe. It was overall a great day though. My first in many months. I played like a regular player for once, rather than a shrubbery, and had a great time. Teams were very even in the morning. We did "sands of pain" which involved holding a button on a box to build up a timer. We lost by two seconds! But people peeled off through the day so teams had to get rebalanced past lunch a few times. Also someone had a lipo fire in their gun that was in their car. Thankfully only the gun got damaged and no one got hurt. But the parking area got nice new smell for the morning.
  5. 20m really isn't enough to test hop up properly. A basic amount of hop will get you that far, and issues that aren't severe (like everything moving around) usually occur after 30m-40m. It should be getting to at least 70m stock. If you really want to waste a bit of money, and you don't have an easy range to measure out, a rangefinder can be had for about £100, so you can check real distances. though estimating on google maps on your local field is a cheaper but more difficult option. I do second Rogerborg's opinion that the hop rubber got lubed, which would have some pretty bad effects on the hop up. One thing, if you haven't tried, is to check air seal. Plug the EMPTY barrel with a finger (empty that feed tube, be 100% sure) and fire it. It should at least cushion the piston, and not get the dry fire slam. Or if it's very good, you should be able to hold a bit of air pressure and hear it release when you remove your finger. With the consistency it's probably not this. but it's worth ruling out.
  6. You guys had some great pushes on magazine. Those were some really fun firefights to be a part of. We must have both shot those poor tans from both sides🤣 I had three walking out in front of the magazine in plain site announcing all greens were dead they now held it, shortly followed by "Hit." "Hit." "Hit." and knowing there was two more of our team directly to my left side. Great weekend though. Anzio is a fantastic site, and despite the player imbalances, everyone fought hard, many right to the end. Actually arriving on time on friday also meant the social was a lot more fun. Looking forward to the next one. Bring more tans, I need more kills! 😁
  7. Stalker is probably the best bet if you really don't want to craft, you want something that won't shred in every bush, has decent colours, and if you don't want to spend a load on a custom crafted ghillie. Of course I will always advocate for crafting your own, but the stalker ones will let you add in a bit of extra crafting to break up the shape, if you want to, while still providing a good base.
  8. Definitely not more efficient, it's about backspin. A shorter barrel needs a higher pressure (heavier spring) to get the same muzzle energy, this means the BB is pushed over the hop with increased speed, hence more backspin, hence you can hop heavier BBs. In fact there are people who run 0.4g+ BBs out of 1j pistols. Usually MK23s since they have easily available TDC kits and don't require high volume fire. Most pistols also have the downside of lubricant being sprayed down the barrel with every shot.
  9. Get the Dragons on the phone, I've got an idea...
  10. Not true. If anything, the shorter the better for lifting heavy BBs. Jmason, you should give this thread on the airsoft sniper forums a read. Despite being nearly 15 years old, the principles are still very much the same https://www.airsoftsniperforum.com/threads/the-holy-grail-of-building-your-dmr-aeg.892/ Basically eliminating movement, vibrations, and air leaks to create the most consistent performance you can. And to be a bit helpful in a succinct way, you probably want a barrel of 300-400mm with a full cylinder for a good air volume ratio. You can work out your own cylinder's volume exactly with this calculator and ruler. http://airsofttech.dk/Calculator.cshtml
  11. Because lighter BBs slow down significantly faster than heavier ones. It's enough that at about 30m they will impact at about the same time. Past 30m heavier BBs will start to land before lighter ones. I'll link the airsoft trajectory project. Someone using actual maths and simulations to map the ballistics of BBs. In the fifth chart, time of flight vs distance, you see an almost constant ~30% increase in travel time for a 0.2g bb over a 0.3g bb at the end of the range. https://mackila.com/airsoft/atp/07-b-07.htm full list of links https://mackila.com/airsoft/atp/
  12. If you can get the fps values of a few shots in a row (5-10) to give an idea on variance, that'd help. Could be just be it being a factory m90 spring with not great air seal. A lot of variance is probably poor air seal. You should also be able to lift at least .28s, but probably .3s or .32s with that rubber.
  13. Well damn, I should've gotten mine from ali 😭The two minor downsides being it's not FFP, and the eyebox goes in the quantum realm past 4x. But the 1x is superb, and glass quality is excellent.
  14. To be fair, I think the site is only about 100 yards across That sucks though, unbalanced teams sometimes happens, but no attempts to fix it is poor management. And shame about the hit callers. 95% of the time they aren't hitting a damn thing, but they're always so sure they are.
  15. The one thing with a red dot is if you feel you want some magnification later on you can pick up a magnifier to go behind the it.
  16. I may have accidently made a russian kit 😶 I just like atacs fg in ghost recon, didn't look it up too much until I was gonna buy some and realised it's mostly used by russians. Also recently got a VSS. Ah well, it looks cool as hell. It's all invader gear stuff, pretty comfy, should perform well through the year.
  17. Well, Worthing went through with the new limitations to ghillies. Nothing below a viper hood (shoulders) with 1.14j full auto. DMR and bolt actions only for anything longer or a full ghillie. However they have upped their DMR limits to 1.88j so we're in line with most other sites now, which is nice. At least I now have an excuse to finish my viper hood and buy some better combats.
  18. I mostly make wraps or covers for my guns. I did take the plunge recently and covered my tac41 in tough tape. But my new VSS is gonna stay using a cover for as long as I can get away with. I'd hate to cover up its beauty. But I mostly will use tough tape if I want anything to be stealthy. It blends most of the year round, or at least acts as an excellent base for adding some green. Kills any reflections too, and it can be removed fairly easily in the future.
  19. I'll add that I wouldn't be opposed to ghillies being locked to semi, or at least being told to keep it on semi while at 1j, and using DMR fire rate rules (1 in the air, no spamming). Possibly also needing fixed-stock guns. I don't think it should be necessary to force ghillies to have an MED with their main gun. DMR limits are already a mixed bag, you'd be almost forced into using HPA just so you could adjust power output on a per-site basis.
  20. Does anyone know what they mean by snood? It seems like a strange thing if they mean the head wrap, cos that seems basically pointless.
  21. He's not entirely wrong. With careful movement you can move through most areas (with some vegetation) unseen. But a good ghillie really opens up your options for movement. It can also buy you time when someone knows roughly where you are. And it can get people to walk right past you when you're in otherwise incredibly obvious spots.
  22. I added an edit. Not required, but can make it easier
  23. Even then it depends on the games. Some games don't cater well to a ghillie, but some do. Holding large areas, either the point itself or flanks, can be very effective in some game types. Defence, flanking, and ambush plays is where ghillies can shine. Or... not shine, heh. A ghillie isn't required, but again, it can make those things easier.
  24. I agree, it's not required, but it helps. It also lets you get away with being unseen in places you have no right to be unseen in. And as pretty much all airsoft games are within 100m, having good camo for your area, including 3d camo, is an advantage.
  25. Okay, and the point of a ghillie is to move through an observed area unseen, so I'm not sure what you point is. And that's the use case of military issued camouflage clothing, not all camouflage.
