  1. So a friend and I had an impromptu day out at driver wood, as impromptu as you can be with pre-booking anyway. I was trying out my new ghillie cobra hood, new camo clothes, and a new scope. They've got a very fancy staging area, lots of benches for everyone, despite the probably around 200 people there, a cafe, quite nice toilets, and a little area to watch the paint ballers while you eat lunch. We played entirely on the two long roads with 'the maze' in the middle, which might as well be a cqb area with how dense it is. It's a nice area to play in though, there's a few sightlines and vehicles in the middle. First downer was that I forgot my fan goggles, so I had to use my shooting glasses which at least don't blind me, but do fog a bit. This also meant I couldn't run face pro with camo on the front as it would make the fogging even worse. not a super effective ghillie with a big pink face in the middle. Anyway, first game I had a nice spot watching the double decker bus on the road, but about half way through the first game, maybe 30 minutes in, there was a call of 'game over' from a nearby field of paintballers, and I thought it was our game, so I stood up and then got shot in the head, and never managed to push that far in. Kind of a negative imo. Also someone very angry at people not calling hits and being overshot. Actually lots of complains of overshooting. Personally I blame the vegetation for this, I didn't see hit shruggers myself. The veg is just thin enough you can often see movement through it but your bbs will get thrown every which way bar forwards. Still, it's not a pleasant experience to have people yelling at each other nearby. It did seem to get better as the day went on, maybe señor shouty went home or calmed down, idk. There was a pretty cool game mode with where we had to capture some "rogues", players with a 15 sec timeout on hit. We also did some bomb escorts, and some zombies at the end. Although parallel games does have some drawbacks with fields so close, it does mean rentals aren't forced against walk-ons, and while I'm not against that, it means almost every player is playing nice and aggressively, supporting the objectives and so on. It felt very even in the teams, though I have zero idea who won any of the games, lol. Ghillie worked really well, especially in the thick veg of the maze. I had one player only spot me due to the neon green armband I had to wear, and some not see me even when I was just milling about standing up. With my fan goggles, face covering, and the more subdued colour of my local field's arm bands, I have some high hopes. Though I do still need some pictures in the game zone to really judge it. I am 100% shortening the back a little though, I kept stepping on the tail ends that had gotten a bit ripped. Jack pyke digicam. Pricey, fits small so instead of a large I'm a 2xl now, but a really nice soft shell outer layer. I thought it would be a touch rustley but I was able to move silently with it. I was kept dry of all the damp mud I was kneeling in, kept warm though it's not super cold today. Blends well with the ghillie. I like it. Again, would be curious to see some pics of myself in it. I'm really bad at remembering to take pics. Scope was good too, it's a Hawke Vantage. Nice and easy to zero, hasn't moved. Did general scope things well. When I wasn't fogging it was wonderfully clear. Overall a decent day for standard £25 walk on pricing.
  2. When my l86 lost a ton of power it turned out to be the nozzle o-ring being worn down. Check the bucking looks good and is positioned correctly. Could also be the piston head o-ring,
  3. Well that's unfair to Worthing tbh. Truthfully, while the facilities are very basic the marshalls and players are excellent. And it's a nice bit of varied woodland to fight in.
  4. I don't like that their facilities page seems to be comparing to my local ?
  5. I suspect a .32 is about the heaviest that a bb can be with normal bb plastic. Though if you're throwing .36s you're probably not doing a run 'n' gun type build. I haven't yet been through a bag of 1000 over 2 game days so the price doesn't bother me a huge amount. £11+shipping for 1000 geoffs.
  6. Paradise? I miss paradise ? Hopefully they use it in two weeks. Shame about the (non) hit takers, it's such a rarity at worthing. glad the marshals were on top of it for you guys. I guess I sort of had an airsoft day, me and a mate went up to the range at worthing for the afternoon. He's got himself a cyma vsr, changed the hop rubber and barrel, and it's right on the power limits. Though it certainly needs some bedding in and tuning, it's hitting 75m with a 0.4 and some lobbing. So I think he's going to have a good time next game day, or hate sniping, one of those ?
  7. This bush seems to have a red dot mounted on it?
  8. Lexan, hacksaw, sandpaper, and about 30 minutes of hand cramp.
  9. Oh quids in, my games at the local zoo are gonna be so much better with this piece of kit.
  10. Hawke vantage 3-9x scope. Optics are nice and clear, nice eye relief, and it feels really well made. I got a ris mount for an rmr sight too. Just gotta get home and camo her up!
  11. This, basically. It will never be solved without unrealistic methods. What joule testing will do is catch the stupid cheater, and inform the ignorant that their gun is hot. It's £60 for a chrono that can program bb weights + £200 for a quality chrono like a skan to check against, shouldn't be a huge burden a business. There's not much excuse to not test in joules these days.
  12. I was, with my perfectly concealed flamingo shirt! There was some great yellow ad hoc squads pushing flanks and bases all day. Some wonderfully aggressive play from everyone it felt like. We somehow got wonky watch and all the barrels out in about 15-20 minutes. My friend definitely found that out, lol. MVP 100% goes to whoever dropped that training smoke on sandbag in the final minutes. Gave us the cover needed to get sandbag and diffuse the bomb.
  13. Was a good day, some great objectives to play, some excellent team play with mot of my friends now on radios, and I always love being able to play the whole site. My rifle is performing nicely, just needs to be made a touch more accurate. New pistol was pretty disappointing, even after I thought it was lifting bbs. probably just needs a new rubber though, so there's still hope. Also got shot in the ol' jewels, so that's one off the bucket list I hope to never repeat.
  14. The zero one calculator is a great tool to check your joules: https://www.zerooneairsoft.com/airsoft_calculator.php energy = mass x velocity, so you up either mass or velocity your joules will go up. if you were getting 310fps before, it's not hard to jump 10+fps with better air seal, and go over the limits. Do you have your own chrono? I'd suggest it to anyone that wants to tweak their gun in any way, besides external attachments.
  15. The older black boots I wouldn't touch for comfort. The newer brown boots are good boots, usually at 1/3 of the price new, but you have to go to a shop to make sure it's a pair in decent condition, or buy from somewhere with a generous returns policy . Online retails will send you whatever is the correct size with zero regard for quality. "grade 1" can be a pretty big range, and some boots with ruined soles end up in that bin because few really care to check.
  16. Raven R226. I'm just gonna stop hoping to stock nuprol guns, I cannot in good conscience sell this thing to someone when it can't hop a 0.2 out the box. Looks lovely externally, slide is nice and smooth, action is nice and smooth, but the hop is just... wafer thin as stock. Decided write this one off and buy it myself. Shimmed (read: put tape under) the hop arm until I can get something more permanent sorted out. At least it hops 0.25s now even with a drop in power. We'll see how it handles the field this weekend. On the other hand, Swiss arms adaptx holster, really, really happy with it. I didn't think a universal quick release holster was really doable but this is quite nice. And it's ambidextrous! I've fitted it to the R226 and my WE EU17 Gen 4, and it can fit both no worries. Takes some adjustment, some parts are a bit fiddly, but overall a fairly simple process. Again, field testing this weekend.
  17. I have the TM AUG HC. I love it, very much. As said, the TM has a midpoint on the safety that allows for semi-auto fire, but it is still a pretty heavy and squishy trigger 'cause it's a bullpup. A few things to note on mine. 1) the safety push lever thing is fairly sharp on the corners, I filed mine down. 2) After two years of running it, the semi-auto has stopped working. I haven't even touched the gearbox in all this time though, I've been waiting on a second reliable gun before I crack the AUG open. Full auto works fine though. 3) after two years, even the TM is getting a wobbly bottom rail and a bit creaky. 4) Get a second ejection port cover because the mock bolt is a total ass to put back in But, you'll get 40m effective range (at like 0.7j on 0.28s) and an absolute hellfire of bbs. If we're throwing out suggestions, the arp556 is a pretty nice gun. A friend has one, and it sits right on the full auto power limits with 0.28s, even with that tiny barrel. Has decent accuracy, range and RoF too. Plus it takes regular m4 mags. The metal bodied one is already pretty light, and now there's the v2 polymer version that's about the top of your price range. Though it's a bit springy when you're shooting it for some reason.
  18. A follow on from my AK21 purchase last week. I ran the gun last weekend and was pretty impressed, it was hopping 0.36s to 50m, even while dropping to 0.65 joules with the hop set. So this week I've been in the gearbox giving it a higher volume cylinder, a notch cut, which has solved the power drops with no hop, weather has been too awful to test at range though. A couple of fun things I've since found, the shimming was pretty damn good, which it had to be 'cos the inside was bone dry. Maybe there was a slight hint of grease from ages past, but there was close to nothing in the box. The inside has been painted too, so it's got a slightly rough texture. At least it's got a pretty face. ?
  19. How's the quality? I've been trying to get some vn midcaps, only managed to snag 2 so far (and mistakenly bought some high caps *shakes fist*)
  20. What an amazing day at Worthing! New gun is wonderful, hops .36s out to 50m even while lacking in power a bit, so there's room for improvement. Even my goggle fan running out of power and a morning of not being able to see much (I got it sorted at lunch, and a new love for revision anti-fog wipes) couldn't put much of a damper on the amazing rolling defence game of the afternoon. Some excellent defense and enemy callouts from yellow, and some great coordinated pushes from blue. My new camo hood and loadout was proven to work. Almost got stepped on a few times, and there were many claims of a sniper (It's a <1j aeg) while I held the flank with a few others for a good 10 minutes. Took about 6 of them to weed me out ? All in all a wonderful day, one of those where you realise how much you love this sport.
  21. Haha, yeah I really wanna grab one of those at some point, just a big chunk of beautiful metal. I will say this rivals my ICS L86 in weight, if that gives some perspective.
  22. SoI picked up a Nuprol Delta AK21. It's a very cool looking gun imo, with its real steel counterpart being very close to the ACR, both conceptually and visually is pretty cool. With the RIF version being based on an m4, it's easy to get parts for. Speaking of, it's not a gun I would recommend anyone run stock, the barrel was in a truly awful state. Much worse than any of my other guns that I hadn't cleaned for about a year. Fortunately I never planned to keep much of the internals, so a new barrel, while annoying that it's necessary, isn't so bad for me. I also got a prowin hop unit and a modify ryukoso flat hop rubber, which will be range and accuracy tested on sunday. But initially it all fits beautifully and the airseal upped my fps by 10. What I did buy this gun for are its externals, which are wonderful. It's heavy as hell, weighting about 3kgs by itself, being almost full metal, besides grip and stock. If it wasn't heavy enough, I also bought a Nuprol Phantom (Elcan repro) with a fixed 4x zoom, and it's a beautiful optic. Really clear, no perceptual loss of light. The adjustment dial is super stiff so I don't fear it moving at all. 600g though, so it adds a fair bit of weight. I plan to run this gun as a sneaky build for now, it'll probably end up being a DMR, or a <1.14j quiet build, probably ending up HPA'd at some point in its life. I'm pretty happy with the wrap job I've done, using a jack pyke 3D camo hat as a scope cover, with their tough tape and stealth tape to cover the gun. The true test will be on sunday though. My goal is to surprise a few people. Nude Dressed
  23. Oof. Do you have anything around your neck? I've always worn a shemagh or scrim scarf around my neck for this reason.
  24. I was also hoping for more bright shirts, but it is what it is. Still somehow got team killed a few times ? I've played a few times down in paradise, hopefully it gets more use, though it's proper creepy right now, with all the canopy cover and dead branches around.
  25. Even as the saps that had to attack you it was a fantastic day. A ton of fighting, and team kills, as both teams were forced into one direction to attack the scientists. And Paradise is hell to attack an entrenched team, especially if you're wearing a bright white shirt ?
