But I'll go ahead and do it anyway: of course he did.  Why he's still allowed on any UK site at this point just baffles me.
 
The Depot CQB sodded Dan Wesson style shell loading revolvers off completely after they caught multiple folk doing exactly this, chronoing with power-down then loading the stock shells.
 
It's unfair on the people who use them with the power-down shells, I don't particularly agree with it on principle, but in practice it's a wonder that any chrono cheating sociopaths get caught at all.
 
The elephant in the bunker for me is Mk23s with barrel extensions hidden inside silencers being used without a MED when they can be putting out 1.5J or more.  And we know who likes to use those.

Important stuff in bold.
Between the late hours of 14/07/21 and middle of 16/07/21, AF-UK was offline. This was the longest downtime since migrating the site in 2018 and that shouldn't happen, sorry. This particular update was a major change that required revisions to the server running the forums (and not just the forum software itself), so it shouldn't happen again any time soon.
 
Things to look out for
As with any update the search is reindexed and parts of the database rebuilt in the background. The website may not be as quick to respond as you're used to during this 12-hour period starting from when this thread was posted The Classifieds module will be updated in the next 48 hours or so to bring it into line with the core forum software version. Please allow for issues during this time Expect general issues with the website until the site template has been updated

Achievements
Yet to fiddle with this one or implement it at all - could be fun, could be really annoying. I would appreciate your patience on this one while I figure out a baseline and then see if it's complained about enough to warrant removal. Given the delays yesterday in getting the site online, I thought it more important to have things up and running rather than look into the detail of this update. I am aware of the issues with it not granting certain achievements that you should already have. This has not yet been set up and might well be removed entirely.

In-browser notifications
These have been expanded so you might get more than you used to (especially on a mobile device). I have tried to disable notifications until I can get a grasp on how annoying they might become, but this is a new update so may carry a few new ones.
 
AF-UK app
Part of the new update is IPS's testing of their app available in early testing on Android and iOS. We are an early user of it (no idea what criteria they base this on). You may be prompted to download the app, but note that very few things in this app are something that I can control. Who knows if the Classifieds will integrate at all.
 
Edit 1: As of 16/07/21 - this appears to not be working. You can see us in the app but not load the forums. I've asked IPS if they can find out what's wrong.
Edit 2: As of 17/07/21 - I've been told that the app is currently offline - nothing to do with us and it is in early testing. Should be back some time soon?
 

 

 
 
 
 

We've been over this several times, and I'm yet again going to have to point out, with reference to the actual wording of the legislation, that the VCRA (as opposed to the Firearms Act) does indeed say "looks like an actual gun", or words to that specific effect.
 
It uses the word "actual" twice, ackchyually: "a firearm of an actual make or model of modern firearm (whether existing or discontinued)" and "something falling within a description which could be used for identifying, by reference to their appearance, the firearms falling within a category of actual modern firearms which, even though they include firearms of different makes or models (whether existing or discontinued) or both, all have the same or a similar appearance."

So, yes, this was a real modern firearm that existed for 5 minutes, and even though it's been discontinued, technically speaking if you made something that looked like it, then it would be a VCRA realistic imitation firearm.
 
The real challenge would be persuading anyone to prosecute you for selling, importing, manufacturing, or modifying-into one.  I'm not aware of anyone actually being prosecuted or convicted under VCRA 2006 S36, ever, but as always I would welcome seeing some case law.

Oh, it was hilarious, the chrono was set to the correct BB weight, and I actually pointed at the Joules number on it.  But he still insisted on looking up the FPS figure and BB weight on an app on his phone, because, uhhh, you trust the chrono's FPS number, but not its ability to do a simple piece of arithmetic with it?  

I appreciate being chronoed in game, but marshals need to understand that they're looking for folk who cheated the morning chrono, not the victims of circumstance.
 
Gas guns will creep up as the temperature rises.  If you chrono first thing in the morning, gas guns that are are 0.1J under the site limit are 100% going to be over it an hour later.  Either don't let them on the field, or be sure that whoever chronos them later understands this.
 
The correct response in that case is to ask players to take it out of the game, and to offer a rental gun if you have any available, not to punt them off site.
 
If there are multiple site chronos available, test on the one that gives the lowest reading - or else bin all of them except the one that give the highest.

What I haven't really mentioned yet is the chrono marshal damaged my tanaka revolver-one of the rubber seats trying to eject a shell (pegasus system-no shells)
 
And rammed an aeg m4 magazine inside my ghk g5.
 
It's winding me up, massively. May have started melting down on facebook.
Though, I fixed it, can't prove he did so. But it wasn't damaged before. And luckily I had a spare, I have a few tanaka pegasus saa parts for emergencies.
I wasn't going to bring that up as, to be honest, it wasn't the end of the world. But if I hadn't have got a spare, then I would have had a very expensive paperweight.

Here's my supposition: they knew fine well who it was.  But they hoped the culprits would own up and go home without any drama.  When they didn't, they had no Plan B, and just retreated into an owner-marshal circle-wank where they told each other that collective punishment was the right thing to do, and better than risking walking up to Captain Spamalot and saying "Sod off, you're not welcome here."
 
This, right here, is what grinds my gears the most about airsoft: sites gobbing off about what they're going to do, then failing to do it. Then punishing the majority of decent players because they won't deal with the tiny minority of toxic people who need to be punted right out of the hobby.

I feel you, I take one look at an AK and suddenly the handguard comes loose and the front iron sight bents to the right or goes canted but I just want an AKS 74u that doesn't look like it's been assembled by an idiot or it's from Khyber pass 😂
 
I hate anything that has a drum mag when it technically shouldn't have a drum mag, come near me with one of those neon magazines on a 9mm M4 and I'll throw hands 😂
 

As has already been identified I think the EVO has been crafted by some degenerate from the smegma found in the devil’s foreskin 🤮 but equally dripping with my disdain is ANY gun that has some kind of adapter so you can run STANAG mags in a gun that’s not chambered for 5.56 in the real world , wether it’s a P90 with one of those phantom abortions hanging of the side of it like some kind of parasite sucking the life out of it , an adapter rammed up the jacksy of a shotgun or my REAL all time favourite the tapped hi-capa M4 mag adapter ! WTF ! It’s a pistol FFS ! 😳

inspired by some recent random chat about the scorpion evo figured it might be a fun idea to find out how many folks have irrational hatred for guns (or aspects of them).
 
so what guns do you think are good (either real or airsoft), but you hate them anyway?
 
for me it's glocks, i get that both real and (the good) airsoft versions make for fine gats, simple, easy to use, reliable and effective enough to get the job done. i can understand their popularity and i'll admit if i actually had to bet my life on a handgun it would be a good choice.
 
but i hate them, they're boring, boxy, and the tat people sprinkle on them or carve into them with soldering irons just makes it worse.
 
i also hate the fashion for putting buffer tube stocks on everything, ak's being most prominent but anything from shotguns, mp5's, scar's etc. i get that it means adjustability, i get that it allows a wide selection of stock options, i get that it makes sense. but i still hate it.
