Airsoft-Ed

Does anyone have any experience with these guys? I met them at The Arms Fair last May and I've emailed them regarding an AK I'm thinking of picking up and so far they've been incredibly friendly and helpful, with immensey impressive, and prompt communication, despite the owner being away in Dubai at the moment! I think they deserve some love. Does anyone else have any experiences with them?

As a defence? Never. You can get discounts at a number of places by showing a UKAPU card though, both sites and shops. They're all listed on the UKAPU website. I can't think of any aside from JDAirsoft and my regular site, Skirmish Airsoft, off the top of my head.

Well, you might as well just get UKARA to be fair, it's not like it's a difficult thing to get sorted. When I switched sites and mine expired, I had another form filled out and sent off, I was back on the database within 2 days of realising I was no longer on it.

Any places we ought to be avoiding?

I'd be worried about parts compatibility and availability with the GHK, otherwise I would. WE are opening that UK distribution centre soon, remember? So that's quite a large attraction. Thinking of going for a WE CQB M4 now, with all the RA Tech parts pre fitted of course. I did have that opinion, yeah. Though it was mostly because when I got a gas rifle initially, I had no idea what I was doing with it so it ended up being useless. That said, I've had a pretty shite history with pistols as well, they never seem to work properly for me. It's like I'm a human freezer and when I touch a pistol it has to behave like it just got teleported to me from Antarctica. I was very impressed with a WE Glock 17 Gen4 I got to have a play with today though, so I've asked Stef to get one in for me. But yeah... Hopefully things will go better for me with the gas rifles this time around. I think that because they're entirely mechanical, having some knowledge of how they work ought to prove them simpler to use and maintain than AEGs, they'll just require more attention, which is something I always liked the idea of, having to actually maintain a gun. Especially since they strip down the same as the real thing and everything.

I think the para stock is the cooliest I freakin' hate people who have it collapsed whilst they use it though... Especially if those people drop the bipod and use it with the stock in...

So as an update, I received the parts today. Springs, pistons, spring guides - all fit. VSR sears do not fit, and cylinder heads don't fit either, as the Ares cylinder has different threading. However, if someone else finds that VSR cylinders fit, then obviously the cylinder heads will too. I also tried to sort out the feeding issue by sticking some washers around all the screws to adjust the height of the feed tube in relation to the mag, in an attempt to make the holes line up better - I failed. It wasn't down to lack of trying either. I went bloody mental for over an hour trying about 500 different combinations, different numbers of washers on different screws. No joy. I also encountered an issue I'd previously forgotten to mention, which is that when the bolt is to the rear, BBs can fall out of the back of the hop unit into the area the bolt fills when it's forwards. Meaning when you push the bolt back forward BBs get caught between the hop unit and the cylinder head, getting crushed to buggery in the process, as well as preventing you from pushing the bolt full forward without forcing it, which then ruins your air seal, prevents proper loading of the next shot (if it's even working properly anyway) and most annoyingly, can't be fixed without dismantling the gun and taking the barrel off. Which wouldn't be so bad if you had faith it wasn't going to then happen again immediately upon trying to use the gun again. All I can say is that this is the single worst gun I've ever owned and it has become an exceedingly expensive (£550 with the scope, mags and upgrade parts) useless, wall hanger. I've emailed JDAirsoft, where I bought it from, and if they'll take it, I'm going to return it for a refund. If they won't, I will murder everyone on this continent.
