  1. *DISCLAIMER* All my guns are boring, I know. Slight update on my Specna C-02: Decided to go for a much lighter front end while keeping the 260mm inner. Internally I've replaced the old workhorse Perun Optical for a Perun Hybrid, removed one extra tooth (-3 total) from the sector gear to keep the power down (94 m/s on a 0.2, 0.9J) and swapped cylinder head. I now "need" a new motor and maybe a red dot (thinking Vector Maverick + Unity Fast riser clone, decent sub €100 setup).
  2. I suspect the gearbox somehow gets pushed out of alignment by the magazine, which might explain the failure to feed and the horrible noise. Try this quick test: Remove the upper receiver, score a little mark on the side of the gearbox where it meets the lower, then insert a magazine and see if the box moves.
  3. Following your description (gun works fine without a mag inserted) I'd argue it's a fitment issue, disassemble and reassemble the gun in this order: Disassembly: Remove upper receiver, mag release, flora pin (small pin above the trigger), rear pin, pistol grip, stock screw, gearbox. Reassembly: Gearbox inside the receiver, install rear pin, flora pin, mag catch, upper receiver and front pin, stock, pistol grip. In this order, so that you mitigate any possible misalignment of parts and stuff.
  4. Last sunday was a wet but fun day! 9 people, games were somewhat slow but not a big deal, it gave me the chance to test some new gear/bits. @TheFull9 Ammo hub is wonderful, lightweight, low profile, can be upscaled or downscaled according to the user's needs, it's a nice alternative to the Mayflower rig when I don't have a lot to carry. Won't be using it for the upcoming 27h tournament though, I need a few things at hand and I don't want to overload the Hub. Direct Action Dust Mk2 backpack is awesome too, a touch heavy at 1.5kg empty, but very very comfortable! Perun Hybrid > Gate Titan, period; My 933, despite having a shortened M90 spring and one/two teeth knocked off the sector, still does 1.02J, so another tooth will have to go.
  5. Shortened M90, short stroked by 2, still 1.02J -.-

  6. I kinda feel bad for replacing my Perun Optical with a Hybrid. I may build a gun/gearbox just to use it again!

I don't regret replacing the Titan though.

Who had "2 hours, 51 minutes" in the Regrets Sweepstake?

  7. Out with the Titan and Perun Optical, in with the Hybrids!

  8. Current worst: Cyma AKS-74u. It was a journey to make it feed on high caps, currently awaiting a nozzle swap (might do it tomorrow, once I've swapped mosfets on my M4s), hopefully I can play ONE game with it before retiring. On its defence there's fuck all left of the original gun, since I had already built a gearbox for the Dead&L krink. Current best: King Arms PDW. My least expensive build (sub €500 excluding the base gun), yet the most consistent and fun. Compact, relatively lightweight and good performance on a "budget". 9mm mags on an AR platform look mega cool and being MP5 mags they're easy to source. Best value (ever): TM Mk23, 'nuff said.
  9. Oversimplified, but yeah, it's mostly a cosmetic thing. Keep in mind that the shorter the barrel is, the stiffer the spring is needed to achieve X level of power compared to a longer barrel. On the other hand, anything over 10" is essentially useless. Barrel length (assuming the cylinder, piston stroke and spring are the same) mostly affects power output. What brings the most to the table is BBs, hop up and air seal, the more consistent those three are the tighter the "groupings"
  10. Maaaan, fuck Taiwangun! They had Perun Hybrids in stock, so I bought two. They had Slong all rubber cylinder heads, so I bought two. It's a bad place, avoid if you don't want to feel unclean.
  11. Yup, especially long, bulky rifles. Get yourself a nice padded two points sling and it'll be night and day, even though it takes a little bit of time to get accustomed to.
  12. Well if you look at how bio BBs are tested, the humidity and pressure they're tested at means we must be playing on Mercury or something to see them disappear in 60 days, as most companies state
  13. Did you know that AEGs and springers propel the BB the same exact way a HPA engine does? They both use compressed air so technically you should be bitching about those as well, this makes you a hypocrite! Jokes apart, literally everyone is telling you to have a word with refs or gtfo to find another site, and we have done so for a while. Yet you prefer to cry on a forum.
  14. So, a genuine advice has turned into a massive roast, gives me £700 swat loadout vibes!! For real though, try having a word with the site's staff, or play somewhere else.
  15. Tis the final (hopefully) form of my carbine. Swapped the 6.5" handguard for a 5" ARP one. Had to turn down the TTI outer barrel because the G&G barrel nut is very narrow and didn't fit (you can see the bare aluminium "rings" where I removed material off the barrel). Also removed the EVO sights as they are too low to be comfortably used with a lower face mask. All I need now is a decent sling and maybe a tracer unit.
  16. HPA bad Shooting hands bad Shooting guns bad What's next? Shooting you bad?
  17. We all are, one way or another. To me it's a matter of actually using what I buy and right now, even though my gear collection is somewhat minimalist compared to some of you, I feel like I have reached my "limit" and won't be buying anything else until I sell some of the guns/gear I have, which won't happen anytime soon because I think I have found good setups and now, apart from a torch and holster for the Glock, every purchase will be just to maintain/slightly update the guns I have.
  18. Hehe, know the feeling. It's the same for me, but regarding my TM Glock. All because I can't find a holster that fits a 6 seconds mount. But anyway, the AAP turns from okay to good with just a hop rubber swap, when you consider the cost of the pistol (sub €100) and rubber (say €15 including a spacer like a ML I-Key) it's a pretty good deal! Treat it carefully and it'll last a while. Then if you want maximum performance/reliability/cosmetics you will naturally spend a small fortune on it, but it's the same with Capas, Glocks and pretty much all Airsoft guns bar MTWs and Mk23s, but those are the exception because cost/design/technology. My pistol costs a lot, but I could have done without a fancy mamba upper, a CowCow hammer set, a TTI trigger, magwell and a dot, my carbine could have done without the expensive TTI carbine kit, charging handle+external selector, you get the idea. It does feel toyish, I'll give you that, but if you want "realism" then the AAP isn't for you
  19. Any updates? I must have missed it, not a fan of microswitches because they are still mechanical parts subject to stress and breakages (not that optical/magnetic sensors won't break, but they don't have actual forced applied to them) but if it works well it could be a cheaper alternative to Peruns and Titans for those who can't afford these units!
  20. I say stock is pretty efficient compared to the majority of GBBs (except TM, because fairy dust). I think you can tune the valve to make it more efficient (i.e. pump out only the gas needed to achieve the required energy output and cycle the bolt), a lightweight bolt might help but at the same time I'd be careful with going too lightweight or you may end up with cycling issues like our friend above, especially if you use stiff recoil springs. Afaik the CowCow nozzle is a bit shit, don't know about others (I don't even know if other nozzles exist!)
  21. Buy a new gun, it's all I can tell you. Gearbox casing is proprietary, gears are proprietary, FCU is proprietary, all the standard parts (compression set, motor, bushings) are of abysmal quality. There is, imo, no need to own an Ares in 2023 when Cyma and Dboys (Specna/Evolution/Saigo) are a thing. But, if you're dead set on your Ares, I'd replace the stock aluminium bushings for proper steel ones, tappet plate, the whole compression set, motor and hop rubber. The barrel is decent, 6.03 aluminium does its job, hop unit could be better but on mine it was actually consistent. I've had the same gun for about 4 years and it kept shitting itself, every two weeks or so one part would randomly decide to commit sudoku and I've spent far too much money on it just to make it work.
  22. While I wait for my new rig to arrive: - G&G ARP-9 handguard for the AAP (pics will follow); - Specna polymer upper receiver; - Random 128x32mm suppressor, building a lighter, more modern upper for my 933 specifically for tournaments (pics will follow)
  23. You may need an I-Key or similar. Both the Autobot and Decepticon rubbers will fit narrow windows, it's the MRs and other R-Hop shaped patches that won't.
  24. These are all imperial threaded barrel nuts, made for real AR15s (and probably GBBs), when they were available on AliExpress you could choose an Airsoft spec (metric) barrel nut. Maybe they have it somewhere on the website.
