New Specna Arms SA-E15 EDGE won't fire out the box?
Rogerborg replied to nukacolavoid's topic in Electric Guns
What came with the gun? The battery, or the adapter? What battery? If you call the retailer that sold it to you on Monday morning, they're going to ask you all the same questions. -
Mmm, airsoft spring ratings are more what you'd call guidelines than actual rules. The good news is that it sounds like you've got great airseal, so you can downspring and every other component will thank you for it. While I'll stress that @ak2m4 really does know what he's talking about, it is just possible that you might need to go lower than M100 on an XT spring. I absolutely fluked out on a short-tight-barrel M4 and hit 1.3J with an M100 XT spring and had to drop to an M90 to tame it. But that's a freakish occurrence, and an XT M100 will typically be the sweet spot for UK guns.

New Specna Arms SA-E15 EDGE won't fire out the box?

Ahoy, welcome, and sorry to hear that you're having issues. Electrical problems are generally something simple. The suggestions above are sound. What battery do you have? What charger, and how do you know it's charged? Is it Deans/T-plug, or Mini-Tamiya connected via the adapter that comes with the Specna? And if it's Mini-Tamiya, is it definitely sold for airsoft use? For no reason that I can figure out, airsoft and RC use opposite polarities on Tamiya connectors. -
If you've got the time over the weekend, you might as well cut it while you order up a new spring or two. You're not going to be playing with it anyway, and you'll need to get used to opening the box, so treat it as a dry run and assume you'll mess it up and you can only exceed your expectations. 1.4J is pretty spicy[*], but the power does tend to come down fast, so I'd lop off maybe 1.5 coils, then heat and flatten the end (effectively losing two full coils) and maybe file or grind it super-flat if you're feeling posh. I'm sure there will be screams of horror at this, but if you come out just over, you can just heat and flatten another coil down again rather than cutting it off. If you're ordering up springs from AK2M4, you might as well get some shims while you're at it. If you want to treat yourself, these latch-and-trigger clips are ace. Failing that, some strong magnets can help to keep the gears and ARL square. [*] But stock for a CYMA that's not been modified for the UK market. You're not the first person to be sold a a super-hot gun by a "reputable" retailer.

How big is this shop? If you're getting head sized at 25m, and airsofter sized at 50m, you'll be competitive with 90% of players out there. As above, a barrel and hop rubber clean never goes amiss. Maple Leaf rubbers and Omega nubs are a decent shout for any gun, or you can work on the hop-unit tension, and shimming the barrel if you're really determined.

Mmm, it would be pretty hard to adduce a defence of airsoft use, when it's not an airsoft gun. That's also why it's a little shonky having it in the classifieds here, although realistically speaking, there are more realistic RIFs that are easier to get.

V3 fire selectors can be fussy and fragile. Look at all the weak points on that bad boy! It might have snapped, or hopefully it's just that the toothed part at the rear has disengaged from the turny-part of the fire selector switch. If it's the latter, then it might just be a case of pulling the gearbox/pistol grip out and putting it back together again. Take down isn't particularly complicated, here's Skylar covering it. IIRC (and I may not), you might not even have to take the barrel out in order to wiggle the gearbox out, just the cross-pins, magwell, and the bolt at the rear of the gearbox.

Technically, it's "lower calorie" now.

And a decent enough adver- wait, is that Dr Who with a lightsabre? Bloke's obviously a mental case, avoid!
-
They go here: https://airsoft-forums.uk/classifieds/ We strongly encourage sellers to take a picture with their username and the date written on a piece of paper in shot with everything being sold (and even more strongly encourage buyers to be wary of adverts that don't do that). If you actually want to sell them, I would recommend listing what they are, and including (or at least listing) any postage and PayPal fees in the price. Best of luck.

If that's 287fps with 0.4g, then it's 1.52J. Which is why it's long past time that we started talking in terms of Joules.
-
Eh, they were decent value for money a few years back, but they're not brilliant guns, just a pleasant surprise given the price. And, yes, "best" is entirely subjective. A reasonable rule of thumb is to find a CYMA model at the price that you want to pay, and then look for reasons to get anything else for that money.
-
Six of one, half a dozen of the other. They're both basic, robust, V3 gearboxed guns with medium quality plastic bodies, decent rotary hops, no frills, and no weak points. The JG used to come with a spring pre-tensioner but they look to have dropped that now, so I don't think there's anything specific to recommend one over the other. It's a decent platform and they'll both take upgrades well if you're that way inclined, so I'd just go with whichever one you can find in stock and in budget.

Ah, gotchya. As @Sewdhull says, 8mm is likely, but not guaranteed. Are you sure that your shell isn't coming with bushings? To be honest, I wouldn't care to guess, as the one consistent thing about airsoft is the inconsistency, even within brands (or rebrands, in Nuprol's case). I'd wait-and-see if it comes with them, and if not, measure up the shell rather than trusting a listing, even if it's for that exact item.

Ahoy and welcome. Yes, it's quite the rush, isn't it? I normally say "Don't blow mortgage money until you've got your UKARA!" but I guess it's bit late for that.
-
Yes, in the sense of what we actually have now, rather than what was proposed in 2006/2007. It's a very peculiar situation where we have an entire industry dependent on committing crimes, then arguing that each and every sale has its own defence. Nobody can sell RIFs, and yet everybody can sell RIFs. Eh, it's worked out OK, although it's rather surprising that they didn't just lump RIFs in with (other) air guns and only allow them to be sold by registered firearms dealers.
-
That, really. Flip your thinking around, it's got nothing to do with purchase or your use of it. You're not committing any offence by buying or attempting to buy a RIF, the onus is entirely on the seller to provide a defence for their behaviour if prosecuted. But I've been unable to find any instances of airsoft retailers being prosecuted for selling RIFs, so we don't know what evidence would actually be required. It's not spelled out in the law itself. A site-membership / UKARA-like scheme is suggested in a Home Office circular, but the other defences have no such specificity or scheme and would rely on individual and ad-hoc evidence (or a simple declaration). As @Tommikka notes, some retailers openly claim to be adducing an entirely bogus non-defence, and zero figs are given. One ex-retailer (Fat Bobs) simply had a checkbox to declare your intent. I have no idea whether or how retailers record their defence for each sale, or even if they bother with it on an individual basis. RIF retailers are in the business of selling RIFs. Unless three little kids in a trenchcoat totter in wearing a false moustache and squeak "Hello, we - I mean, I am an adult who wishes to purchase your very best stick-'em-up shooter, mister" they're going to make the sale.

Do eeet and film eeeeeet.
-
I'd go with that as a working assumption, or the PTFE shenanigans has skewed it. Pull it apart and put it back together before assuming anything is seriously wrong.
-
You've got me second-guessing myself, but IIRC there's a single spring in the ASG tri-shots, driving three pistons. That's how the CYMA tri-shots work (which I also have and wouldn't recommend disassembling!) - or rather two concentric springs. So, yes, which one would you "upgrade", and to what? Dunno about other brands, but everything's just a clone of a clone of a clone, innit.
-
Lulz it is then. Do eeeeet.
-
I now find it "necessary" to invite Major Move-Up to lead by example.
-
Upgraded to what? Chronoing at what? Given the number of screws buzzed straight into fragile plastic holding these things together, I wouldn't want one that's been apart once, let alone enough times to find a spring that actually works better than the stock one. I could be wrong, but that looks more shiny than my ASG Franchi.

Be the change you want to see, and move. I tend to alternate between sniping at the back, and pulling the MP5K for a Leeeeeroy Jennnnkins run when things bog down. Exceptions exist, but airsoft "suppression" isn't all that at a typical woodland site. Most people prefer shooting to moving so the sound of brrrting is pretty much constant. Folk often don't even know that they're being shot at unless they're behind hard cover and hearing the tappy-taps. Even then, it doesn't have a literal-life-or-death deterrence effect, particularly as some folk are going to "not feel" their hits anyway. The main reason to try and co-ordinate is because it's fun, and you can build a narrative around it. Much of what we're doing is telling ourselves stories.
