Welcome back 🖐 As Rogerborg said, TM is commonly regarded as the best performing manufacturer but a bit more pricy (and not full metal if that's important for you) Most other makes are decent (apart from mentioned Nuprol) but there are so many variations between models that you're better off choosing a particular model that you like the look of and then researching which make is best. If you want best performance vs price I'd also recommend the AAP-01 (but avoid using the full auto function)

THAT becomes a problem once you have your UKARA number. Welcome 🖐 and enjoy all the frivolous, funny & fact filled pages on the forum 😁

Welcome 🖐 Have a look around. Plenty to see 😉
-
🖐 I'll put my hand up to be next in line to 'look after' it 😄
-
Ah OK. I'm sure there's a bit more of the German QC thrown in 😉

Welcome 🖐 All the info you need is in the forum. Just do some searches for starting out and you'll find lots to read. Have a look HERE to find sites near you.

Maybe, I don't have one. Just what I heard from my bike buds 😁

Josh: Will be interesting to see how the 'Evolution' develops (...More airsoft toy manufacturers the better) Rogerborg: True of earlier ones. They seem to be better now the electrics are handled by BMW 😄

Welcome 🖐 I'm certainly no expert on the P90 but I'm sure most will say the TM is king. Someone may chime in on the Krytac but you should look at plenty of reviews. I wouldn't consider the Novi version as its just an upgraded generic one which they charge loads for. I have the older Classic Army which is great but duno if still available.

Hoping to restart the hobby after a 15 year hiatus!

Welcome back 😁 Yeah, the performance of our toys has gone up with the prices going down over the years. Unfortunately stock in UK is very low at the moment and the European sources are now cut 🙄 Have a look HERE for sites near you. Well done for being patient. It will give you more time to decide what shape BB slinger to get 😉 -

Hi 🖐 Plenty of threads to read on tech work and I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Welcome back 😉 QC = Quick Change. Allows you to more easily access the spring so it can be changed without dismantling the whole gun and gearbox. Definitely a plus Rotary hop has the wheel around the whole part rather than a small cog on the side like the older versions. It allows for smoother changes and does not drift once set. I personally like the Specna Arms range but if you get one, definitely test it thoroughly to make sure it works well. (Advice for any new purchase really) Also clean the barrel before testing. Happily since the early years prices have come down with performance going up so there are several manufacturers to choose from that won't touch your budget limit. (Unfortunately stock is very low at the moment) CYMA are well respected and have quite a few metal offerings. JG (Jing Gong) are good value for performance with some very cheap polymer items but they also do metal versions. As mentioned, Specna Arms EDGE 2 are very good value with good performance. There have been reports of breaks and failures which may have been a bad batch so test within the return period. Double Eagle have some fans so worth looking to see what they offer. G&G are a good brand but seem to be over-pricing themselves for what you get. I also prefer metal toys 😁

Welcome 🖐 Haven't tried CQB. I like the more open battlefield of a wood with multiple attack vectors and less chance of choke points 🤔

Welcome 🖐 I'm sure you'll be able to meet someone from here. Do lots of reading to get all the info for starting out in airsoft 👍

Yep, as said, its just a retailer thing to prove they have sold a potentially dangerous item to someone who will use it for its intended purpose. ie airsoft not robbing people etc. The retailers selling with JustCos are obviously desperate for some business at the moment so they are reducing their selling criteria. If a retailer is found to have sold a RIF (Realistic) airsoft gun which was later used in a criminal way then they could face some legal problems. I've not heard of any such situation but that's the background to it...

Yes, UKARA is only one way (the usual) to buy a realistic looking (black) airsoft weapon. Once you have your airsoft toy you can take it to any event without any questions being asked where or how you got it. Just make sure to keep it completely hidden from public view when transporting.

Decision time... One gun to rule them all
EDcase replied to sonofsammo's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
If really buying for your son I'd suggest letting him choose from a list in the required price range. He'd get more excitement actually choosing it but give it a few days before making a final decision. Most of em will perform about the same and can be tweaked if you want more range etc. As for pistol, I think the WE M84 Cheetah is a cute little one. The one that comes with extension barrel and suppressor gets it around 350fps! But again, I'm sure he'll love choosing one. (Probably a Desert Eagle 😄) -
Welcome 🖐 Yep, gear and gunz will accumulate 😄

Had a few tries in Reading during lunch breaks. Only found junk of course. 😄 Important trick is to use the top of a plastic bottle to cover the magnet so the attachment point doesn't get snagged. Would love to try somewhere interesting like around Hampton Court but I expect that wouldn't last long. Your site sounds interesting so could be worth a go since its not a big investment.

I found these in a lake in Belgium 1987 when it was drained for the first time since WWII. There was loads of other stuff in the mud but I could only walk around the perimeter. The auto is a FN1905 and the ladies revolver is a pinfire from around 1850 I donated them to a museum where they told me that they were likely thrown in the lake during the nazi occupation because anyone caught with a weapon would be executed.

Would be worth cleaning the barrel as a first option
