  1. every day, i regret not getting the trigger happy version for £450 a few years ago. But £2500 is just silly.

Edit: Also, reports that the Lambda mk48 was a massive POS for the price.

"Unfortunately, I can't recommend that anyone buy one of these unless you want a really expensive wall-hanger: the internals are absolute hot GARBAGE for the price, basically being bog-standard CA internals smothered with grease.

And it comes with that most disappointing of design choices; a proprietary hop unit. I've tried both the Bullgear M249 and PKM hop units, and neither of them quite fit as the standard hop incorporates design elements from both of them, seemingly just to be awkward. And it goes without saying that the hop that comes with the MK48 is the cheapest, nastiest, and shittiest hop I've had the displeasure of trying to use for many, many years.

Suffice to say, I'll be looking to sell mine on at a hefty loss."

  2. Just as an update if anyone is interested, I phoned JAL last week to inquire about imports - as I'm on a two part ticket with ITM->HND with JAL and then HND->LHR with BA.

BA said check with JAL as they are the check in agents, JAL said "i dunno". So they asked for details via email and spec sheets of what I would be getting, so sent them links to a NGRS MP5 and AKM GBB as examples.

So now its back over to them to get back in contact in a couple days. If its a no-go, it will be a case of weighing up buying and posting vs buying in the UK without the faff factor.

EDIT: JAL phoned back, confirming it's all good. They even put a note on my file saying that i may need special check in. If I don't buy anything, let them know.

The only issue is them saying that I should re-check in with BA in HND. So i spoke to BA via live chat and again, they just shrugged and went "S'aight, just check in with JAL". I saved that chat, so hopefully it should be smooth sailing apart from the wife moaning, asking "Don't you already have that one?"

  3. Another vote for the FNX.

It just feels better than all my glocks and other pistols, except maybe my TM Foilage warrior, but performance wise just thunks bb's where you want them to go.

Only downside is the recessed valve is a bastard to replace if you need to due to the mag bumpers.

  4. I'm more impressed with going through the green channel at the end. Nothing makes you feel more like a mob boss under surveillance by MI6 than picking your bags up at heathrow.

I have a pretty packed schedule, but a couple of free afternoons so I'll try and plan a trip to a couple shops and see if there's anything super nice that i must have.

  5. Going rate seemed/seems to be around £40 for a mag, plus £5 for a magpul, and £2-3 for a dust cover.

So £50 all in seems reasonable, maybe 45 for a bulk sale?

But like you said they are getting rare nowadays, I haven't seen any for sale in a while.

  6. @Dan Robinson

Indeed, it would be good to know what the outcome was like, as I'm going to Tokyo/Osaka in March with BA, but the return is a 2 part code share, with JAL being the named airline for the first bit.

Apparently we’re now getting one by double eagle and one by cyma!

I've noticed that the DE one says

"Utilizes the Tokyo Marui MWS gas blowback system"

    whilst the Cyma says

" Brand new CGS (CYMA Gas System) provides reliable performance and durability. Cross-compatible with all standard Tokyo Marui MWS-spec parts"

Now i might be reading too much into toy guns blurb on a retailer website, but the DE one sounds like a direct clone whilst the Cyma sounds like they've fiddled with it.

Also the Cyma has 2 major differences that i can see (again, maybe just retailer product photography or a pre-production model) - the Cyma has 11 holes in the rail as opposed to the DE's 10. Also the Cyma seems to have a seam in front of the magwell, whilst the DE doesn't. Not sure if thats better or worse.

The rest seem to be cosmetic - the stock, grip, flash hider and one has BUISs. And one has the 300 BLK on the inside of the ust guard, and one on the outside.

Are Angry Gun still making them? I know they were extortionate when they came out. It does look pretty cool though! Excuse the Dogs paws in the photo, bugger get’s everywhere!

I saw on Instagram that EMG are testing out a TTI kit for the MWS. Not sure who the OEM is.

Also whilst poking around instead of working, I saw the Noveske is up for pre-order as a complete rifle. The body kit is more expensive, but the whole rifle is Cyma based and MWS compatible.

Additionally, it is different to the Double Eagle system

    https://www.evike.com/products/103135/

The wording is slightly different as well. The Cyma is MWS compatible, whilst the DE says its the MWS system.

  9. You could see if someone does a surefire 60 round Stanag gas mags for this, that should maybe get 100 shots out of - means less fiddly mag pouches.

I suppose it depends how well these sell and how good the platform is. If this was the start of another hi-capa or VSR style surge, then we could be seeing lots of GBB LMGs and 3rd party accessories taking off. I would love to see them.

    This depends on a few things;
Did they test the gun at all?
    - If so, did they test it with YOUR battery/mags? or equivalent to what you'd be using?

Did they charge you for the do-over(s)?
    - I would allow some leniency of error, but the fact it was a complete dud? after 2 attempts of sorting it?
    nah

If they've agreed to sort it for free, (maybe a small good-will refund to cover travel expenses?), to clear their name?
    Sure.

However, at a certain point, it becomes evident that -just maybe- they don't know what they're doing

Maybe they're just not good at DMR builds?

My mags and ammo. Will give them the battery as well just to make sure

No additional charges for labour. Part X they did charge for as it was on the way out, but not the 2nd, better quality Part X.

The reason I'm willing to give them a bit more leniency is they do have a very good rep and I've seen examples of their work, so willing to give the benefit of doubt on this final change.

They have agreed to do a ground up rebuild to solve it once and for all.

That's a bit like saying you put your car in for 4 new tyres, but when you got home you find only the front tyres are new, the back tyres they replaced with barely legal part-worns, but still charged full price.

You wouldn't rate them on getting half the job right surely 🤔

If they had done all 4 tyres, i would rate them.  But with the 2 tyres I am giving them the chance to rectify it - maybe I'm too nice and forgiving.

We know airsoft isn't an exact science after all, but just wanted to gauge how other people would react to the situation. And obliviously people make mistake - go on reddit and you will see how wrong people get stuff sometimes.

If you go back they'll have to refund a certain amount for your time and trouble but I can't believe you didn't test it there when you picked it up.

Unfortunately, my plans got side swiped on the way down, so had to hurry back for a work thing and just made it by the skin of my teeth

Yep, in much the same way that anybody who touts themselves as a credible "tech" in ANY field should have, but the cynical amongst us knows that in the real world it varies massively, & even more so in the alternate dimension known as Airsoft lol

As mentioned, they did a bang up job on my other rif, and if that had been my only experience i'd be rating them 10/10 and telling everyone about them.

  13. So without naming names or being specific, I've had a rif in with a tech who has a very good reputation.

I dropped off 2 rifles, 1 for a tune up, and a DMR for repairs.

The tune up rifle came back great, shoots nice and everything.

The 2nd DMR came back, pulled the trigger, and dead - mosfet reported an error.

Took it back (about an hours drive each way) and came back with X replaced. Took it home, fired about 0.2 of a joule.

Back to the shop, another replacement to part X.

Took it home, fired it, sounded all types of awful, BB's literally roll out the barrel and the bolt doesn't recoil. In hindsight, should've got them to chrono it in the store.

So now do i take it back a 4th time (3rd do-over) or just cut my losses and try and get them to do a good will gesture refund on the labour?
