  1. Have you looked at www.airsoftmap.co.uk ? I do not know how up-to-date or accurate the map is, but I have used it to look at the location of some sites and then googled the names for more information.
  2. The postman has just delivered a Fenix AOF-S+ Filter adapter (green). So now I have a more tactical green light which will also act as a lens protector for my Fenix PD35 flashlight. Not bad for £5.20 from eBay with free P&P.
  3. During my last game down in the UCAP Bunker a group of us were stacked up ready to move into another corridor when one of the enemy team calmly walked from behind and doubled tapped the line of us all with a pistol. Beautiful move, we did not know he was there until hit by which time it was too late. I learnt to check my 6 more often after that incident, although in the dark you can walk past someone and not notice them (as I found out later when knife killed). It also made me think that playing a game with just pistol and stealth could be fun.
  4. I prefer the original reel steel without paint, even if the British L85 does look like a two tone toy As for sniper rifles, unpainted but covered with hessian/scrim/tape as camouflage. Each to their own. Edit: There is arctic / winter cam, painting a weapon white. Thinking of Royal Marines replacing the green with white on L85.
  5. Depends on what weapon and magazine(s) you are carrying, and how much other kit you need with you. Using a hi-cap magazine fitted to your gun and just some spare BBs in a pocket you can just run around (or walk quickly in my case) very light. Or a belt rig (a pistol and mags if wanted) with mag pouch, admin and dump pouch. Keeps you much cooler compared to a vest or plate carrier, less dehydrating. If you have lo-cap mags or use lots of mags then obviously you want something to carry them securely and with access. I do use a vest or chest rig, as appropriate to load and whether playing in the dark or daylight, although either work the other way around but to be honest the lighter load the better. As most others have said, you want to feel any hits and be comfortable and manoeuvrable.
  6. Great work, now everyone is going to want a gun cupboard or wardrobe
  7. I think it depends on the quality of the magazine, how much pressure you are exerting on the them and the terrain under you. I would not expect them to break though. One thing to remember when getting prone is that you can drop mags from pouches if not properly secured. I have elastic retention straps on my open pouches and I needed to adjust the tightness yesterday when one mag dropped out after crawling prone to get cover.
  8. I know that I like to keep my weapon clean, currently giving it a good rub down after some hard use earlier. Then I have to polish my helmet
  9. Of course if you are well slung then either you do not need someone else to hold your weapon or you have a free hand to grip their stock for them.
  10. The other player was happy to get his hands on my larger balls (.23g) but he was well slung so I did not need to grip the stock while he pumped the balls.
  11. So today down it the woods and a player on my team ran out of ammo. To save him the walk of death back to the safe zone, I just took out my TM speed loader and gave it to him so he was able to bomb-up his low cap mag and stay in the fight. It felt good to help out another player. Airsoft karma.
  12. I am lucky that my wife supports my new found hobby and knows that I would consult with her to de-conflict our diary engagements. Family has to come first and in this the Jedi Mistress is to be obeyed! However, I have so far managed to do all my chores to earn the free time, so played today but will be busy on bank holiday Monday sorting out the garage and garden regardless of weather. Work does get in the way, I work irregular shifts and weekends at least once every 5 weeks. I have scheduled some time off work to play on Wednesday evenings. At least with walk-on there is usually no pre-booking required so should allow some future flexibility to just turn up (providing my kit is prepared and packed). Most important is that my wife does not know just how much I have spent on airsoft to date.
  13. Both my batteries are loose, so I will have to see what plastic containers eBay has available. Did not even think of a risk from shorting, just the need to stop the battery getting crushed or fire risk.
  14. And your AF-UK patch so that fellow forum members can recognise each other.
  15. Going to a skirmish with one unconnected LiPo battery in the stock of my gun. Does the spare battery need any special treatment in transit and at the safe zone? I was just going to keep it in a small tin until needed.
  16. That is one problem of waiting to get your defence before buying a RIF, you can end up spending hours looking a Gucci kit on the Internet and buying lots of it ready for when you do actually buy your gun.
  17. So what is worse, not sharing your BBs or giving them some Nuprol ones? (Honestly no idea about good or bad BBs, only ever used Blaster...maybe an idea for a new thread)
  18. The OP was a light hearted thread and the first few posts indeed took it in the direction of double entendre. Maybe I should have caveated the post with "I neither condemn or condone holding a stranger's gun"h. Like life it is all context related, and each situation merits a different response based on circumstance.
  19. So the question for the forum today is whether you should hold a stranger's gun or not when they ask you to? For example: you have just found a nice position overlooking a route used by the opposition team and a stranger on your team asks you to hold their weapon while they faff around (and maybe borrow some of your spare BBs ). Do you say: 1. Yes, of course 2. No, sorry I am busy 3. Where is your sling? 4. Something else Edit: 5. Can I keep it? 6. Am I wearing my fluffy unicorn and Care Bear patches? 7. Go and ask Snakeyes75 or Matto2494!
  20. I was recently at a skirmish with rental kit and during the last game of the night another rental player on the same coloured team as me ran out of ammo and was askng if anyone had any he could have. There were several responses that I could have made: 1. Yes, I have ammo left, here have some of mine. 2. Yes, but I need it all myself. 3. No, none left either. 4. No. 5. Stay quiet and do not respond. I took option 5. I did not know this other person, had payed the same money as him for rental, I had conserved my ammo (no bursts of automatic), no idea if he was just trying to get free extra bbs. So what would other forum members have done? Do not want an ethics debate, just interested in how you would deal with the issue of giving away your bbs to a stranger. Had he been a formal team mate or friend I was there with then option 1. Edit: to clarify, only extra ammo was from the original 2k allowance issued to all of us having rental guns and I had one mag full of bb left. No idea whether would need them myself at the time. Do not believe anyone else offered their ammo either.
  21. I remember jay83 mentioning his rifle with Pec box and other kit being stolen from his van back in April. So any dodgy sales could well be stolen.
  22. Yes to the Fast helmet. I took a head shot on my first game and decided to get a helmet as one of my first purchases. it is well worth the money, looks good (in my opinion) and has saved me getting bumps in tunnels. Do not feel dressed without one. I have my mesh mask attached to the helmet rail so that i just have to unclip one side to remove it and the other strap is suspended on the helmet. Also a place to add patches if you want. The only thing more important is good eye protection. I have mesh goggles only as a back up but I cannot see very clearly through them and they offer no real balistic protection compared to dedicated eyepro.
  23. My wife is supportive of my hobbies, even playing with toy guns, and quietly amused. She thinks it is a bunch of old soldiers reliving their youth or youngsters out playing fantasy games. She has noted my excitement, like a child on Christmas Eve, with different parcels arriving at the house and when I collected my RIF. However, she does not have any interest or appreciate the beauty of the HK416. Her only concern was after seeing some of my bb welts and thinking that she should have worried more when I was deployed away on operations because I take so many hits.
  24. Ammo, water, and food as priorities. Layered clothing to adapt to weather, to stay warm and dry. Spare socks. Dry bag to keep kit dry. Illumination and spare batteries. Basic first aid kit, i.e. Blisters, headaches, cuts. Toothpaste and hand sanitiser plus toilet paper . Balance in keeping weight down, travel light, and comfort. Will there be a harbour area indoors or outside for cooking and resting , if so then you want a sleeping system and shelter. Hydration is key regarless of weather so recommend camelback
  25. Excellent review with good pictures. Better than many of the airsoft magazines. Warrior Assault Systems make quality kit, and I have purchased their Falcon chest rig and other items from UK Tactical (their UK supplier). They often have good discount offers at well which really makes value for money.
