  1. Sounds like Invite Only airsoft games, where players get secretly vetted by members during a game day and if considered sporting and able to take their hits can be invited to join the list of players for closed (invitation only) games. Good way to get like minded players together and keep the chavs out. Similar to secret shopper but with guns
  2. If you have the money to spend then the OPS range of clothing is good, sold in the UK by Huey's www.hueys.co.uk who are sole UK retailer for the Hong Kong based UR Tactical www.ur-tactical.com UR-Tactical has a much better range, and availability of sizes in stock, and is generally much cheaper but have to add shipping costs. They sell Multicam Black and A-TACS LE camouflage if you want something a bit different.
  3. Chronometers are made by different companies and so your own chrono at home may differ from the one at site A, and that differs to site B. The one used by the site you are going to play on is the one that counts, it is their upper safety limit, so fps not to be exceeded. If you are slightly over, then you get a chance to tweek the gun yourself (it is your responsibility to meets their requirements). That is why turning up early enough at the site helps by getting through chrono early. Any hot gun should not be allowed to play, although you may have option to hire one of theirs. Short answer: when buying a RIF in UK you can ask for a lower powered spring to bring down FPS, or ensure it is below a certain FPS limit. See the recent thread in Electric Guns about 'Retailer FPS Downgrades' That is why I like TM guns, low fps out of the box and no need to change springs.
  4. Every site should chrono your guns before play starts to make sure they are within the site limits. Fps limits are set for 0.20g bb. Marshalls can also randomly test the fps of a gun during the day, or if report of player using a hot weapon, .i.e. Above fps limit.
  5. I have mixed thoughts on adding a tracer unit to my 416. On the plus side, they do look good on the gun, it is cool to watch as tracer BBs arc through the dark, can be used to direct team fire "watch my tracer", and shows when hitting other team. On the negative side, tracer unit adds extra length to gun for CQB (I took off the 4" barrel extension to make it 10"), even when you see your tracer hits other team may not always call them, getting reliable and cost effective BBs in good weight. At the moment it is a piece of kit I can live without but if I did buy one it would be the TM version.
  6. Good use of space, you can never have too much rail. Looks the perfect sort of front end for those Spielbergs who want to make videos of themslves and what they are doing, plus room for flashlight and laser.
  7. I just tend to walk around lost, or as I prefer to call it "geographically challenged" quite often. Many times I have to get directions from the opposition team. I was just guarding my cache of nuts, and checking to see whether the girl had a sister who needed rescuing
  8. Find a site you like the look of, book some hire kit, and rock up. Many of us start as lone players. Once at the site you will generally get talking to other players before and after games, either because you are stood/sat near them or they are on the same team. Airsofters are mainly friendly and like to talk about and show off their kit. Through this forum I have met a couple of other players and been shown around sites by them.
  9. I know. But I prefer them and it is H&K take on the M4/M16.
  10. Do not forget gloves. I believe that they are a necessary piece of kit. They protect your hands from knocks and scrapes when moving around, and more importantly help protect (not guaranteed) your hands when hit. This is especially relevant in CQB where contact is close and can be full auto. On Sunday I was in The Mall and had an excellent position covering a corridor, kneeling low and with my body and rifle tight in along the wall, anyone attempting to come around the corner exposed their gun and hands first and were hit at very close range (on semi-auto). No one failed to call their hits; a hand shot really can hurt.
  11. Best M4... possibly the TM HK416D recoil
  12. No, they will stay in the shadows where those monstrosities cannot be seen! Pulls out the pin and steps back ...
  13. Of course, I would consider this a two-tone gun, or one in desperate need of a paint job
  14. Of course being a fan of Tokyo Marui, I prefer this one:Marui M4 CRW high cycle AEG At £299 http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/marui-high-cycle-m4-crw-airsoft-gun-aeg
  15. Fire Support have ICS metal SG551 for £298 http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/ics-metal-sg-551-lb-mrs-airsoft-gun-aeg Yes, Peterborogh based shop. Good customer service.
  16. Welcome to the forum. Your dilemma is a similar one that I had when starting out, I wanted a Heckler & Kock but was not sure which to buy. I have mainly played CQB so needed a compact gun that is easy to carry and move around plus rails on it for attachments. I chose the assault rifle option with short barrel and sliding stock over the SMG, although I will no doubt get one later as a back-up gun. I was also going to buy a pistol straight away but was advised to wait and spend the money on a better primary gun and get an extra battery and magazines instead. I took the advice and bought the pistol a few months later, having changed my choice of pistol in the meantime by seeing what other players used and information from the forum. So many guns and options to choose from
  17. Thanks sp00n, that gave me the information I needed. I am now adding 'grub screw' to my airsoft vocabulary. I have just phoned Fire Support (from where I bought the mount) and they went and checked one of the other packs in stock and explained how it works. I was missing the grub screws which fit into two threaded holes in the mount and push up a small metal plate that locks the mount onto the pistol. Fire Support are now kindly sending me some screws.
  18. I have just purchased a Laylax (Nineball) under mount base v2 for my TM Mk23 Socom pistol. Replacing the LAM unit with under mount that has 20mm RIS rail so that I can use a tactical light. The under mount slides on and off the rails (that the LAM fits in) on the pistol and so needs some retention device. There are 2 small holes in the centre of the mount which I presume are for fixing it into the pistol. The pistol does not have any holes to receive screws. I do not speak Japanese so no idea what the packet says, and there were no screws provided in the packet with the under mount. What type of screws do I need to use. Has anyone had the same issue?
  19. I still like the Kris. I remember being blown away, metaphorically of course, when I first saw one being put through its paces. It is designed well, fits its mission spec, and whether you find it pretty or not is an impressive weapon. Of course, it will never steal my heart away from the MP5.
  20. Congratulations. I only changed the batteries to 7.4v LiPo with deans connectors, and left the rest as stock. I may upgrade barrel and hop rubber next year but it works well enough and so no point replacing parts this soon. It may not shoot as far or as fast as other guns, but it is a thing of beauty. I have purchased a foregrip, rear sling mount, sling, flashlight, rail covers, scope and scope protector, but apart from that it is just as it came out of the box. Have added one hi-cap and three low-cap magazines, and using Blaster 0.25g BBs.
  21. They all need loving! And if she goes like "a belt fed wombat", then so much the better.
  22. Now somthing else to add to my wish list of items to spend my money on :0
  23. Would recommend getting an Imax B6 battery charger/discharger, it can do many different types of battery. Clever device, and costs around £20. You can Google it to read the details about what it does, or for example look at www.hobbyking.co.uk
