  1. I did have to modify my Fast helmet, followed a couple of YouTube videos fro reference, to get the mask inside it. Fairly simple process: remove screws from front of rails, cut plastic straps and carefully pull off front padded section, remove soft padding from polystyrene part and replace soft padding into helmet and reattach the rails. Effectively you remove the front padding to allow the mask space to sit inside the helmet, otherwise the helmet rests on the mask and there is this small oval gap offering no protection to the forehead. Think you need the FMA or Emerson type Fast helmet to mod it, not the cheaper china clone with solid polystyrene insert, although you could probably remove some of the insert to make space (depends on your craft skills). I did actually buy a second Fast helmet, the type with the air holes in the top (maritime ?) as that may release more heat, however, it did not arrive before I wanted to go skirmishing so I just modified my original helmet. I can still use the dial at the rear to tighten it to fit.
  2. Yes, many of us are Billy no mates and go to a skirmish solo. I have met up with a few guys from the forum which is good fun, meeting the real player and having a chat.
  3. All in one does the job, the built in switch in the grip will be useful. The flashlight is powerful enough to illuminate ahead without being a blinding light (playing down in UCAP Bunker they recommend 200 lm), and the 123A batteries are powerful and you can get rechargeable ones. Probably want to buy one from the UK eBay though.
  4. Welcome. Have a look at http://www.airsoftmap.net which shows some airsoft sites which may be local to you, or within travel distance. It is a sticky in the New players section above.
  5. I have the standard iron sights on my HK416, although a cheap red/green dot reflex sight is on its way from china to also be top mounted. If you do fit a scope or sight with a lens then would recommend that you have a lens protector because many players have taken hits to them resulting in smashed glass. I like using a long vertical foregrip as it suits my style of play and makes holding the gun more comfortable. I have a cheap tactical light on the rails underneath in front of the foregrip which I can turn on or off with my finger. It is a basic 600 lumen light with strobe mode and does the job. It takes one 123A battery. Small enough to also fit under my pistol and can be quickly swapped over. Lastly I have a two point Irene sling attached.
  6. Because sometimes you need to take a knife to a gun fight. It is so you can get stealthy or quiet knife kills. I played a game at The Mall where we were not allowed to use guns for the first few minutes, but knifes and swords were permissible. So those few players with knives were quickly able to get multiple kills, including me, before they were hosed down. Due to this experience I went and bought a flexible rubber bayonet from eBay so that I would not get caught out in the future.
  7. I am at work so cannot check my saved list of component shops recommended by others here. You could have a look at Patrol Base htttp://patrolbase.co.uk as they have mini Tamiya to large Tamiya or other way around.
  8. Welcome aboard youngster. Airsoft - so even paintballers can have heroes If you like pain then airsoft could be just for you. We are a diverse group of players and even on this forum you will see we do not all think the same way... and yes Tokyo Marui are the best guns! (and so it begins)
  9. "There's nowt so queer as folk" does seem appropriate; I had not bothered looking at all the links so missed the last one. Naturally this hobby/sport will have a cross section of society like any other, and so with it a spectrum of views, ideas, experiences, and backgrounds. This thread does show that social networking and posting to the Internet leaves a footprint of items that you may later regret or want removed.
  10. I think the Dye i4 mask is excellent and would recommend them. I bought mine on Amazon from BZ Paintball Supplies Ltd for £75 (free P&P), which saved about 25% off the normal price. Their duel pane thermal lens is good, with a clear field of view and wide peripheral vision. I also bought a spare lens (Thermal HD) for the summer so that I can easily swap out the clear lens with one that will reduce sun glare. Yet again Amazon has retailer who sell spare lens for £20 instead of £35. The ear protection on the mask is useful, soft padding which is comfortable and can be removed, and stops painful ear shots. Dye i4 may be more expensive than some eyepro but I think it is worth the money for the level of protection the mask offers, the build quality, and the design which helps air flow in and out of the mask. Comfortable to wear for extended periods and only takes a few minutes to adjust the strap to get perfect fit. I have experienced some fogging indoors when wearing a Fast helmet. This is due to the top air vents not being able to let all the heat / moisture escape out of the top of the mask when under the helmet. Wearing a balaclava and beanie hat with the mask over the top so that the vents are clear works a treat. I have recently invested in a pair of FANZ quick disconnect 9v fans (sold on eBay by fanzkit in Canada for £27) to mount on/in the mask but have yet to install and try them out. Hopefully the fans should solve the Fast helmet issue by moving more air through/around the mask.
  11. I have one, best eyepro I have used to date. Well worth the money. Aiming down rifle is fine. No time to reply fully, use search for 'fogging' and 'prescription' and read through previous posts on Dye i4. There have been several in last 3 months
  12. Have you not heard of the Gulag? It was a forced labour prison camp, effectively a concentration camp, where very few survived the harshest of conditions. Stalin had them packed into trains and shipped off across the Soviet Union. Purges and liquidation of anyone deemed a threat to the State or counter-revolutionary. Less well documented, covered up by Western apologists' supporting socialism, and something the majority of the people in USSR knew nothing about - which explains Stalin's reputation and status.
  13. On a tangent - has anyone joined or know anything about the UKAPU (UK Airsoft Players Union) http://ukapu.org.uk From October 2015 the Chairman is Matt Furey-King. They appear to want to represent the airsoft community, but their website and forums look pretty dead and it seems there is a lack of interest for the UKAPU in general.
  14. The water will have been processed in a factory and 'cleaned' to remove bacteria, etc, than a human would not want to ingest. Once bottled, and sealed, the water remains safe for consumption. However, once the seal is broken and you start consuming the water it is possible for bacteria to be reintroduced or other bugs which can over time contaminate the water and make it unsuitable to drink. Effectively the water goes off and has potential to harm you if the wrong things get into it. Having spent a few months living in West Africa, I do not drink unsealed water bottles or share a bottle with someone else. I would give them my bottle to keep and then open myself a fresh one. And always carry Imodium Plus.
  15. ^^ Jihadi like their black PJs so that they are ready for those 72 virgins Mind you Jimmy Savile liked tracksuit trousers too for his proclivities. Go figure.
  16. Might help if you specify the make and model of gun, i.e. Umarex H&K MP5 A5. Easier for forum members to offer help.
  17. Reminds me of a story, apocryphal of course: "My grandfather died in one of the camps, right at the end of the war. The allies were advancing and only a few miles away. During the celebrations, granddad fell out of his tower, drunk."
  18. Too young to be a SS Obersturmbannfuerer. Hugo Boss styling is great, black on silver, certainly eye catching. And I actually find the KGB and Communist party more offensive (killed 20 million of their own people). However, dress uniform less practical than wearing a camouflaged Waffen SS one. I prefer the Herr Flick look from Allo Allo.
  19. If you use the forum search box and type in the word 'pulse' there are some references to the gun. Have a read through the posts as there may possibly be some useful information contained somewhere in the posts. It is not a weapon that I am familiar with, except from the films (of which Aliens was the best), but there have been a few threads about them. Welcome to the forum.
  20. Have you tried using Google? First hit was at jdairsoft for £349.99
  21. ^^ Fire-Support charged £3.50 shipping which is no worse than many eBay sellers, and it is good to get it quickly from a UK retailer instead of waiting for import from china.
  22. Kingrin Locust steel mesh goggles (black) from Fire-Support for £15.50 (inc P&P). These will be my back up pair of goggles, just in case I have a malfunction with my main ones or fogging is too much. Not a fan of mesh per se because they still make my vision dark but they will work anywhere.
  23. Not that you can use then against human targets but there are 6mm steel ball bearings which will come in heavier weights, i.e. 0.80g http://www.amazon.co.uk/1-000-TFC-Steel-Softair-Airsoft/dp/B00BBL92BK
  24. The Jedi Mistress loves Santa's visit, he only comes once a year but when he does, he fills her stockings
  25. If Santa does read my letter and decide to bring me a shiny new SMG, then I am sure it will be nicely wrapped but batteries not included.
