  1. The Force Awakens - just been to see it, excellent film and a worthy successor to Star Wars. Nothing beats the full cinema experience for picture quality and sound. The full English breakfast and two pints of Guinness before meant no need to popcorn.

Another good reason why I do not do facebook or twitter. I did not want spoilers before seeing the film, a reason for going as soon as possible was that so no-one would ruin it for me

  2. My FAST helmet is FMA, you need the type that has removable foam pads not the cheaper china ones with a solid polystyrene insert. Yes, I did have to mod it a little because the Dye I4 does not fit under the helmet and leaves a small gap on forehead exposed. There are YouTube videos on how to remove the front padding so that the mask fits into the helmet; basically you unscrew the front of both side rails to release interior plastic tension/retaining strap and cut it so that the front pad can be unvelcroed, then take soft felt cover pad and reattach to front inside of helmet to stop mask getting scratched. Not difficult to do, less than a 30 minute job.
  3. My wife has just signed me up to the local fitness centre to get me fighting fit, trimmer, and stronger. Oh joy. For the same money I could buy a new TM recoil and all the extra mags and attachments plus have some skirmish money left over. No matter how fit, I will still get hit and covered in welts, and take longer to recover from a Sunday game than I did 20 years ago.
  4. Use the search function on 'HK416', there was a useful thread about this started on 24 October - http://airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/28697-TM-HK416-owners-upgeade-advice/
  5. If you are in the Reading area and can travel down to Portsmouth, then I would highly recommend going to the Combat South shop, http://www.combatsouth.co.uk They specialise in TM and ICS guns. There is an extensive choice (drop them an email or phone them to see what is in stock) and more than is posted on their website. You can get hands on and try many different models, and test fire on their small indoor range. I am also looking to get a small CQB back-up gun in the New Year, either MP5 or G3/HK53 model as I am old school and prefer the looks over newer guns.
  6. To the OP. Your initial post did not contain very much relevant information. It is always more useful when asking for help to give some pertinent details. For example, do you have a G&G Combat Machine M4 or are you looking at buy a JBBG SpazMonkey - this will help forum members identify a particular make/model which they may have experience of. It is like asking for advice about new alloy wheels on your car; what make, model, year, wheel size, so that people can properly answer the question. As has been stated, most guns have a thread either CCW or CW so looking at the thread would help determine if A, you have one, and B, which type.
  7. Or a pair of goggles over the mesh ones to stop bits going through the holes
  8. The max fps limit for an AEG is whatever it can produce. However, if you mean what is the normal site limit for an AEG, the normal site limit is max 350 fps or for CQB 330 fps. All fps measurments are based on using 0.20g BB. It is the site's choice of limit and readings based on their own chronograph, possibly with some variance allowed. An AEG used as Dedicated Marksman Rifle (DMR) will normally have a max of 450 fps with a safety Minimum Engagement Distance (MED) of 20 metres, yet again site rules apply. So a shop could test the AEG and give you a different fps reading to your own chrono and more importantly differ from the site chrono measurment.
  9. Personally I would return them and get another pair. Use search function and type the word 'mesh', there was a thread on 06 December about mesh goggles with some useful pictures, etc. http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/29158-mesh-eyepro/?hl=mesh These ones allow more light into goggle and offer more coverage: http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/kingrin-desert-locusts-goggles-steel-mesh-model-black
  10. The search function only works on a minimum 4 character limit. Therefore MP5, 416, HPA etc will not be found but MP5K, HK416, High will be. Frustrating, and several of us have requested a new search limit of 3 characters. In the meantime you need to search wider or with different terms.
  11. My quick thoughts based on kit I own and use: Viper - low quality and would not to rely on it, however, for airsoft it does the job and is very cheap. Have a black tactical vest which although cheap, actually has 6 great pouches that are deep with good sized Velcro flaps that means when playing in the dark I will not loose items from. I also have their adjustable pistol holsters because they are one brand that I can fit my Mk23 into with suppressor attached. 5.11 Tactical - good quality, mid priced trousers and tops, well designed kit that I can use for real world activities and airsoft. Recommended. Arc'teryx LEAF - very expensive, (professional range) good quality trousers and tops. The Talos trousers actually lack some of the innovation that 5.11 include. For example Talos lack magazine retainers in cargo pocket to keep 2 x 5.56mm magazines in place. Warrior Assault System - good quality and affordable kit, made for real world use. Wide range of items perfect for airsoft, although they could do with larger pistol pouches and generally longer Velcro flaps to help retention. I am a fan of WAS kit.
  12. UK Tactical have 20% off Pentagon jackets, use code PENT20. Limited time for today only. This includes the Artaxes SF jacket in wolf grey for £59.10; having one myself can highly recommend it.
  13. Just make the targets very small to simulate a greater distance
  14. Which goes to show how Shape, Silhouette, and Colour can still make a person in camouflage with gun stand out. The eye is drawn to the black gun in the foreground, even if camo pattern blends in with countryside.
  15. I can now set up an indoor range - seated on a sofa and shooting 7m through the lounge to the cutains across the patio doors. Place the target on a coffee table in front, and then get the cleaner to hoover up any stray BBs. And ability to switch on/off different lights and lamps in the room to change the ambient lighting conditions.
  16. To update on fitting fans to the Dye i4 mask to solve fogging indoors when wearing a Fast helmet. I installed my FANZ quick disconnect kit, which was not too difficult. I went for the simpler top mounting on the fans and lead using the supplied clips and cable ties (as opposed to fitting them inside the mask). The 9 volt battery box is velcroed onto the side of the fast helmet and power lead connected to the fan lead from the mask. Simple on / off swith on battery box. The 9v fans push the air around inside the mask and kept it clear all day at The Mall on Sunday, so a sucessful result. The fan whine was audible when stealthfully moving around the basement and waiting motionless in the shadows but was not too loud or annoying, and I did not really notice the noise.

  18. I was in the shop next door, Zombie barricade end of The Mall, and the crash of the glass was impressive. Amazing what a BFG can do when it is mis thrown. First time I have heard the command "weapons down!". The marshalls quickly cleaned up the mess and got the game underway again, pity some of the game briefings could not be done with such alacrity.
  19. If only you had joined the forum earlier and had a chance to read though some of the threads/posts regarding Just BB Guns. Would have seen its reputation and poor reviews.
  20. Quick search and I can only find Honey Badger at Action Hobbies based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, which Google puts at 1 hour 58 minutes by car via M1. They have the Honey Badger short version in stock. http://www.actionhobbies.co.uk All a case of how much you want one.
  21. Can you put a link to a map so I can see what county Sutton in Ashfield is in? Or name of a nearby recognisable town/city.
  22. If I had to guess, and having no idea on anything technical, then because it is really a JustBB gun
  23. I expect that the retail smokes that airsofters buy are designed to burn cold, that is a safe burn producing quality smoke without setting fire to the grass / carpet they are thrown on. The last thing you want is a homemade smoke grenade setting fire to a site or another player.
  24. Being a Cold War warrior, then it has to be the classic British DPM for a woodland game which generally works very well. Especially when I am laying down still and getting my breath back I am now using grey clothing for the indoor urban environment, it does appear to be particularly effective in low light areas. I do need to get a grey cover for my black Fast helmet but will not be spraying my guns with grey paint. Have yet to try it skirmishing outdoors.
  25. Off to The Mall Sun 13 Dec to test out my newly fitted Fanzkit quick detach fans on Dye i4 mask. Hopefully the fans will help reduce fogging. Of course need to get awalk on place first.

Managed to get a walk-on place this morning so had another good day in The Mall. The fanzkit worked well, no fogging of my mask and clear all day. There is a low level whine noise from the fan noticeable when quietly sneaking around.
