HPA rifle hate? I guarantee it’s not why you think
Sacarathe replied to Qlimax's topic in High Pressure Air
I believe this is related to the heavier BBs spending more time in the barrel, so you can set the air volume up to accelerate them rapidly (and for longer), but when you put a .20g BB in, it leaves the barrel so fast that the over volume is not noticed? The net result is HPA guns should be chrono'd both on 0.2g and on the player's intended weight? -

From what I read, the pump would overheat and be dangerous before that. It's more like 15 minutes (not all at once either ) out of every hour for a day on a weekend. In terms of money, and if you have the fitness and the desire to exercise in that manner I think a pump is the best solution. Unless a site had a pump, its not economical to visit airgun or scuba shops. Plus I believe for the 3000PSI 13 CI tanks you get 3 to 5 shots (Polarstar JACK) per stroke of the pump to a max of 1200 from the tank. -

If the gun is accurate, with tight spread it's even worse as higher rate of fire is not actually going to increase chance of hitting, in my opinion. You can for 4500 68CI ones too. As you would expect, it gets harder once you pass a certain PSI/BAR, Based on youtube vids on this subject, I'd say that the problems start somewhere around 3000PSI. I believe the consensus is about bodyweight, after a time you need the actual body mass to be about to operate the pump. Thankfully these pumps, contain multiple cylinders operating as pumps on the fore aswell as backstroke. -

I don't have any plans to get larger than 3000 PSI tanks. If every fill from a store costs £6-10 (transport costs included, but time excluded)... Beesting are going to start stocking them this month, yay. -

Ditto, my last game someone sneaked up on me, to within 5 meters, and then shot me in the side 7 times on semi, I shouted (loudly and politely) and they apologised later, I guess they were not using their sights properly. I can't say what ROF I would have if I had a HPA, but I can say it would not exceed AEG levels unless the gun was in burst fire 2-3 shots. I'm that guy who takes the time to draw a pistol to avoid hurting people! -

I want to go HPA, but until I have a 2nd gun 'shell' I'm not going to disassemble my only AEG to make it. In my view, I see it as taking a gun consisting of something like 15 factors to tune/have go wrong, and reducing it to barrel and hop up unit (2). After the initial outlay £550-700* + AEG body, expenditures will be kept down. Unfortunately I had to spend more money that I would have liked on footwear(£320) to correct a disability. So I budgeted myself out of HPA until I can afford another AEG. *Polarstar: Engine+FCU (£250-400), hose/regulator (£140), Battery (£10), Stirrup Pump (£120-160), Bottle (£40-200). In other news, the most recent Polarstar FCU firmware added a trigger lockout, with values from 10 shots a second to 1 shot every 10 seconds. For snipers and other uses. -

I can't see the problem really, but that post surely explains how it arose. What's the point in the chronograph, what's the point in trusting other's to call hits, if people are going irrationally dislike players with more money to spend [on airsoft]. -

Whats the citation for this Qlimax? Also I think there's a word missing from the double space before "maintain". Interesting read, I think it's only news to people who've not thought about it, I dont even know how this situation could even occur in a country with gun controls like the US, how can people ever think it's the guns. -
So, that's the Eden Project then? (imagine the plant damage :/ )

Scalp. Well, the BBs are much more likely to break exposed skin than covered skin. Theres always mesh paintball masks to be considered, cover all parts of your head not covered by hair.

Thanks for that tip (the second one) Esoterick, if a player calls me on hits I will let the marshals know. I've watched enough Vids, and chatted about it sufficiently, to know that calling out suspected cheaters is no good, at TWA the people who did that got a bigger telling off than the cheaters. One of the marshals actually suspended a game to have a good shout. I also spoke calmly with marshals when I needed to. -
Yup, me too. But a derelict ship is my second choice.

If you buy one, the EmersonGear fast helms have a good rep for the most simplistic level of helmets, but they have two types, basic - interior is one lump of polystyrene(i think) padding, and no adjustment screw, and advanced, which has removable pads and a size screw, measure your head before buying! Generally they're a rip off in this country anyway, so something better might be affordable, but don't ask me what, I started my airsoft hobby copying popular youtubers - I do not regret it. Note - as you will see from other forum topics (see search) these helmets are replicas and should not be treated as an object expected to protect your head in a situation you'd expect them to, that said, tree branches door/window frames, a basic knock into a wall, and BB's they're great. Just don't go jumping off a mountain in them - probably shouldn't ride a bike either.

I wanted to play 3 years ago, shame really. -
Nozzle is easy to see because there is a silver area with a hole (showing the black upper) so you can see the nozzle movement and position easily. I'm going to leave this alone until I get an opportunity to chronograph the gun. Thanks for all the input, after it's chrono'd I wont need to post anything to check this stuff out.

https://rawairsoft.wordpress.com/v2gearbox/ Hard to watch it from the trigger pulls. ^^ I'm guessing G&G have deliberately chosen for the spring to be slightly compressed when the nozzle is not visible down the magwell.

Don't assume that if you step out around a 90 degree corner that the guy around it 1 metre away wont shoot you more than once. Got a bone bruise on my right pinky now. Stepped out, shot two guys in the chest and stood there like a lemon while they blasted me (both fired after I hit the 2nd guy), received 6 BBs straight to the pinky. I don't think they even felt their hits. -
I just retested, the nozzle is not visible at [trigger] rest on semi, on auto I am able to bring the trigger forward before the nozzle is withdrawn. The issue is over-cycling of the motor? Could this be because of using a low voltage battery?
-
In that case, this is a good job I looked at it today as it would have otherwise been like that for two weeks instead of 42, hours. Thanks! I take it that means, that one of the things i've learned, through Q&A, that no one told me about AEGs is to check the nozzle is in contact with the barrel before putting it into storage, when firing semi I had difficulty achieving that state.
-
Ok, managed to get the nozzle in full contact with the barrel (well the green hop bucking anyway). How long should I leave it like that for, started the clock at 11am? If no one answers I'll fire it in semi tomorrow morning. Re-reading the above, I may have got this backwards. When I looked in the magwell this morning the black nozzle was entirely withdrawn (since 42 hrs ago) - I could have dropped a bb down the barrel and pushed it out the magwell. Sorry Duck your instructions confused me a little, I'm unclear whether you mean the spring decompressed or compressed is 'cocked'. I would presume that the spring compressed is cocked. I get that nozzle forward is decompressed.

Be sure you take out the internals before applying that heat. I'm guessing from the bike, that won't be a problem, but it'd be wrong to assume everyone knows there's an inner and outer barrel.

What search terms are good for finding the AEGs with DMR externals?
