TBH everyone goes through the full plate carrier period, it's what's generally seen in the media in the various conflicts etc, but the truth is they're overkill for airsoft for so many reasons, & most players eventually see the light & switch to more suitable kit.4 points

Welcome 🤚 Presuming you are in the UK Your parents will not be able to buy a non two tone (RiF) unless they have UKARA registration so the only option at the moment is two-tone. It may be disappointing but its easier to show they are toys if someone sees you playing in the field. You have to make sure BBs do not leave the area of the field and you must stop play if someone is nearby who can get hit with a BB. Oh, and make sure you and friends have good eye protection. That can get serious real quick.2 points

Which gas?
ButcherBill reacted to DanBow for a topic
I know that I said I'm an aeg man on another thread but I've got a WE P226 gbbp coming in the next day or so. I know that I need gas but and think that green gas is the popular one, depending on climate?, but is one brand of gas the same as another brand? Is it just gas?1 point -
Loving my TM MP5 SD6 but thought I needed to just add a bit of furniture to tart it up so purchased a ASG Airsoft MP-5 G3 Series High Scope Mount in Black, in the hope it locks on securely. Arrived quickly, fitted easily and attached my also recently purchased Vector Optics ‘Frenzy’ red dot. Looks ok me thinks…1 point

Trouble shouldering rifle with Osprey MkIV

Re the AK, Yeah, It's a fixed 100 style. I've been looking for one of those stock adapters, Since unscrewing the whole rear end of the rifle's getting a liiiittle tiring at the start and end of each day :^) Been eyeing a Galaxy MP5K, Since I heard they can reach like 310 fps? (for 50ish quid too!!) Would it work for mid-long range outdoor fields though? There is something incredibly fun and appealing about throwing myself around in unreasonably heavy gear. +intimidation if you wear big steel-capped boots in CQB rings! They may be able to hear me stomping towards 'em from 3 rooms away, But at least I wont stub my toes. The 20+ degrees over here as of recent has made me reconsider. Just a bit.1 point -
Control of safety is the main issue I’d recommend against it Next depends on how private your private land is Keep your distance from boundaries etc, and ensure you are not overlooked Ensure your ‘private’ land is not business related - often farmers children want to play on their ‘private’ land, but then it turns out to be publicly accessed land for the business of farming, such as milk lorry drivers You can legally own a 2 tone IF (unless you are much younger than 18) You (and your friends) must be responsible with that IF1 point
-
The issue isn't you, the Osprey is just wank, literally nothing you can do to the vest, your gun or your stance to change that. I've probably fired a good few hundred rounds while wearing the Mk4 and it was always a contortion act of combative awkwardness. When it's stuffed with real armour it'll cover you well against artillery shrapnel and IED frag, which you care about in the relevant circumstances, problem is of course they aren't airsoft, and there's a reason cool SF blokes who jump out of helos in to room-clearing combat where every bit of speed and mobility count all wear American/American-influenced trimmed down plate carriers vs bulky mass issued armour. My guess with the grey pad is that it's only intended to work in the prone, not sure why exactly, presumably just the result of troop trials, but it's simply far higher than you'd ever want to place the butt of your rifle when in any other shooting position. There's a million and 1 different options for rigs, if we were all truly honest we'd say the most efficient of which is just a hi-cap in a pocket, but then all men would lose our form of fashion shopping and dressing up as a hobby. End of the day, if you're a small person, micro chest rigs and small belts are the best thing to go for; there are some specifically smaller plate carriers but they're not as common out in the market.1 point

Just gonna steal one of Negative Airsoft's posts: But no, that's the pure facetious answer. I think GBBRs have had a such a huge spike in popularity the past few years because (especially with MWS) they reached a point where they're reliable and effective enough for regular use, certainly if you have regular access to your collection and time/money/energy to do that bit more maint than an AEG. It's not a ton of maint (unless you get unlucky) but the fact is it is just more than an AEG overall. You can still get unlucky with an AEG, but it's slim odds with a good one realistically. Personally I only have access to my own RIFs about 10% of the time, so all the mags for my few gas guns are stored with maintenance gas and often sealed in bags. Occasionally use the pistols but don't touch the rifles frankly; plink toys at this point given the logistical issues I have and the rarity of getting to games. AEGs just work for me given the limitations I have to contend with and I think they make more sense for people who want to play but only just about have the time and money to do that part, not to milsim being an armourer as well as a special army soldier (again, sarcasm, relax gassy people). I think the easiest overall solution is get something like the TM G36C+ or SG553+ and just never worry about it. Plenty of other options of course and those examples are a smidge behind the curve in power, but for myself I'd take that in exchange for the high probability of just being able to use them, chuck them back in storage and never think about them until they're back in my hands again on the field.1 point

Trouble shouldering rifle with Osprey MkIV
Tackle reacted to ButcherBill for a topic
Unfortunately this applies to many male airsofters too... yes I'm in that category. I wanted a mk4 in my collection & got one to wear in game too... damn thing weighs a tonne. Out of the gear I have, the best/comfiest is an old DPM chest rig, the most uncomfortable is this UCP TAP vest( the layout is fine but the drag handle digs into the back of my neck due to ALL the weight being at the front, the DPM one is a better design but not adaptable with molle. As above there are much better/tacticool chest rigs on the market, have you tried a belt kit/webbing?1 point -
Trouble shouldering rifle with Osprey MkIV
Tackle reacted to Chev Chelios for a topic
As Tackle says plate bags are a bit naff and the osprey being not just plate bags but also designed to carry soft armour panels as well makes it super naff. If you also have big boobs its just not gonna work well. I would recommend a split front chest rig like the TT MAV or Flektarns rip off https://www.flecktarn.co.uk/sdtmb2nx.html it can be worn as a chest rig or belt kit and being a split front super easy to don and doff with huge amounts of adjustment. Chuck some 7.62 pouches for your AK mags on and you should be good to go. Ref your AK, does it have a solid stock? If it does its worth looking at adjustable stocks so you can fit the LOP (length of pull) better to you. Another option if not a die hard AK head the MP5 is a favourite of my tiny 13 year old niece when combined with a good sling will run around happily all day with it.1 point -

Trouble shouldering rifle with Osprey MkIV
Tackle reacted to Holly Wallace for a topic
My rifle is a little front heavy (SRC AK, AK-100 style foregrips with a 1x40 and vertical grip), So I suppose that'd affect things. Eyepro's some generic goggles with a mesh lower facemask. Had some trouble with the mesh interfering with the cheek hold, But I've managed to form it so it's out the way enough. I get the feeling I'm either too small for the smallest size of Osprey, Or I've got it adjusted wrong. I may have to look into a battle belt or other rig. Thanks1 point -
Trouble shouldering rifle with Osprey MkIV
Chev Chelios reacted to Tackle for a topic
Hi Holly, welcome to the forum, while I've never used any of the Osprey stuff, my understanding is they're quite heavy & cumbersome, with not much flexibility. Have you tried an alternative rig, or none at all for a short game, it will tell you if the vest is the problem. Alternatively is the rifle a good fit, possibly front end heavy ? Or even what eyepro/face protection are you using, many full masks will stop you aligning the sights properly, but if you force the mask down on to the rear stock in order to "sight" on your target, it's unlikely that your rifle will be shouldered properly. Lots of things to consider, more info is definitely needed ?1 point -

I'm a bit late to reply, But I've been a few times, Brilliant staff, Marshals are all great. The ground at the Mid Wales site is good and very varied, Be prepared for hills and mud (especially so after rain). The C3 site down at Monmouth is a bit more flat I hear. In terms of atmosphere, It's nice and casual. I started in more serious CQB places, And Mid Wales was a very nice change of pace. 100% recommend1 point -
Finally getting around to posting after faffing about moving house. Picked up a boneyard JG AUG A3. The internal wiring is a mess and luckily another user on here had a Perun AUG MOSFET for sale. Now I just need the free time to work on it. Picked up a Ares Kel-Tec RDB17 for less than half the price of retail and the seller added a big flash hider which suits the rifle way better than the standard one. The seller also included TWO extra MOSFETs that come standard with the RIF which doesn't give me the greatest confidence about how well built the electronics are but I guess i'll find out. Sounds pretty snappy on an 11.1v lipo and the externals feel great. Definitely going to give this a run out when I next get to the field - I just need to figure out if my mags work with it as i've heard these RIFs can be pretty picky. A King Arms P90 and the extended barrel intended to mimic the PS90. Got it on sale from a retailer and found the extended outer barrel for ~£10. The same person selling the Perun AUG MOSFET also happened to be selling a P90 MOSFET so I grabbed that too. Not pictured: another boneyard G&G MP5 with some terribly applied two-tone. The charging handle had been snapped off and the gun is now in many pieces as I wait to replace the broken part(s) and strip the two-tone paint from it. For the new house, to clear out most of my bags/cases laying around, I bought a rifle rack/stand from ebay. It's kinda crappy but it works.1 point

Norsso is a firearms manufacturer, they do not make airsoft pieces. So slide etc are clones. Sig uses black machine screws exclusively on their optics, and the button surround is made with a different material to the rest of the body on Romeo-X Compact, whereas its not on this. Zenitco uses a knurled alumnium attachment screw, the design shown there is exclusively SOTAC clones. etc etc1 point

Rogerborg reacted to Colin Allen for a topic
The police do not routinely check the career history of alleged victims of crime; that is my experience from being a victim of serious crime and from supporting people who have been victims of crime, and I checked it this evening with a serving police officer. Realistically, the only way they would know would be if you have told them at some point. So, let's say you rock up to the boot fair and demand that the stallholder returns the allegedly stolen goods; the stallholder says "Mate, I bought these from a guy I met in the pub." At that point, how are you going to prove that they are your allegedly stolen items? Do they have something distinctive about them that you can describe to the organisers before getting anywhere near the stall holder? If you have not, you are going to be out of luck.1 point -
Assuming you can prove it's yours, & the seller has enough of what was taken still in his possession to match your crime report. Even then, you're assuming he'll roll over & say something like "it's a fair cop guv, fill yer boots", or alternatively he claims he paid good money for them & tells you to do one, will you then be forced to rely on the local plod to turn up, given that they've previously blown you out apparently.1 point

So why would they say ex-army, and not ex-police? Just so we're all on the same page, none of this adds up and everyone thinks you're talking utter bollocks, in the follow-up thread that no-one asked for, after you got locked out of the first one. In the (unlikely) event any of it's true, don't do dumb shit like keeping RIFs in your car and rolling around with them day to day. That alone should be obvious. Someone who says they have 4 kids should be a little more sensible and responsible. 🙄1 point -

I've never had any issues with leaky mags or shattered nozzles, so I think there's an element of bad luck on your part there. In terms of what I do, I make sure to never use gas that will be too strong for it (depending on temperature, as gas has different psi at different temps), and for the mags I always keep them stored with a little bit of Abbey maintenance gas in them to keep the seals nice and lubed.1 point

Just be wary, the police have a lot more time for “violent” and “real” crime than they do “non-violent” crimes like theft and shoplifting. They’ll be more inclined to arrest you and charge you with assault for laying a hand on the thief whilst retrieving your stolen goods back, than they are inclined to charge the burglars. Lots of these thieves will know how to play the system as well. They’ll make their assault and lower hanging fruit than the theft of your belongings.1 point -
Pleased you got your rifle back, but confused as to why the plod would make a ridiculous comment like that. I would reopen comms with somebody at a higher level, because you can guarantee that Mr "redacted" would do his best to backpedal & deny giving you that advice, especially if your snatchback went pear shaped in some way, which sounds likely if these criminals are adept enough to hack in to vehicles. The fact you have the conversation recorded is great, but may still not be enough to stop you getting a criminal record if you go ahead with your plans.1 point

First, you gotta stop that condescending tone of yours. Second, I think you could have well made this up, do you work there? Do you have source? Thirdly, that is besides the point, you still want to stick the declaration on the parcel, so it won't get missed, by anyone. Your entire argument started with this method won't work for UPS. If UPS is seizing the parcel as you said, then there is no problem. Anecdotally (from this forum) UPS seems to be always asking for it anyway, so pre-attaching it will surely smooth things out, as a matter of best practice.1 point -
