Echo everything @Colin Allen said - even the bit when he shot me in the ear 🤣. You're right though, a covered safezone would have made a world of difference today. Morning game was really roving, all over the site and some good firefights. Like Colin says, no idea who won but I really didn't care by the end. I actually explored some bits of the site I'd never seen before. It really is a huge place and even after three visits, I still go down the wrong path. Afternoon game was good but struggled a bit in the middle - I think a couple of the non-bands went home early (likely the weather), which really robbed their team of momentum. To fix it, I was swapped onto the non-bands for the last hour or so of the game along with @Jez_Armstrong, which meant I got to shoot some fellow AFUKers (slightly more legitimately ). It's a really great site run by some good folk and I'd love to see it succeed. The real highlight for me though, came after endex. I was chatting to a regular sniper last time I went, that there was something I'd always missed from my collection. Today, he mentioned that he'd given it some thought and since he had two, he'd sell me one. I'm picking it up on Wednesday with a photo essay to follow but for now let's say it will make @Impulse a little jealous!4 points

Today saw the great AFUK meet-up at Battle Lakes on a very wet day. In total, there were 15 players, five of whom were AFUK members. In all honesty, the safezone was not great, with the only cover being three quite small ex-military tents with hardly any seats, very little table space and no lighting; it was very dark inside them. Free tea and coffee making facilities were available and lunch, which was either a cheeseburger or a plain burger, could be booked on arrival. After chronoing and a concise but complete briefing, we set off for the morning game. In this, our team had to locate six large cylinders that were spread across the site and transport them to the locations written on them. The other team had to prevent us doing this and, once a cylinder was at its location, they could steal it and transport it to the Pig Pen, from where we could attempt to steal it back and return it to its rightful home. There was also a suitcase, which had some role in the game, but I have no idea what as I was focussed on the cylinders. This was a really good game, which saw both teams operating aggressively across the site, patrolling, ambushing each other, searching for cylinders, stealing and reclaiming cylinders and generally having great fun in the heavy rain. We mounted a couple of raids on the Pig Pen to recover stolen cylinders. I have no idea who won the game, but that does not really matter; great play and having some great moments are far more important, and there were plenty of both. Unfortunately, at one point, I did manage to misidentify and shoot a fellow AFUKer on our team; however, I did then medic him! Returning to the safe zone for lunch, I found that the site cat had taken over my open gun bag and was curled up on it. After lunch, we went out to play a domination game; there were three points to control by raising a flag of your team's colour, these being the Village, the Comms Tower and the MG Nest. For me, this game was slightly less satisfying than the morning one, but was still good fun, with some good firefights throughout; we held all three locations for most of the game, but the other team came back strongly towards the end, at one point controlling all three locations. However, we retook the Village and the Comms Tower and held them until the end. My personal high point of the game was shooting @Jez_Armstrong, who had abandoned marshalling to play for the other team; however, he shot me a little later. Overall, it was a really good day of airsoft in some horrible weather, with the morning game being particularly good. It was good to be able to put faces to some names and to find that two of us live very close to each other, and to meet up with Tony, the site manager, again. I was a player and a marshal at Battle Lakes back in the day and enjoyed Tony's approach to running an airsoft site. Quite a few improvements have been made to the site since the last time I was there about 18 months ago and Tony has plans and materials to continue improving it. Based on today's experience, I will definitely be going back. It would be good to see more players at the site as it is a good day's play. However, the safe zone really needs upgrading. Weapons used: SRC MP5A2 (Heavily upgraded, only the externals are SRC) KA PDW ASG XP18 Commander (CO2) Best thing of the day: apart from meeting other AFUKers, this has to be my DPM windproof combat smock, which kept most of me dry and warm all day.3 points -

Yeah I was gonna suggest sewing in straps of a big piece of velcro. Also look at Viola cases or similar, sound's daft but look a lot less conspicuous. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112198017963?_skw=violoin+soft+case&itmmeta=01JEGEM97337JT76TGJEC0S1M0&hash=item1a1f85e3ab:g:jAQAAOSwZqZaK90d&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKkrdC0CSRhkgAP7l%2B%2BilyqcATmhqQzXrsD9l8sRKuR4gNwLt9kLa9lCafnBXszIjXit4bAsdgSQG8FcuRSO%2FUomdD7%2B5oBbCBR4B2IkuMJJeROUAm4HtH1YB7GvKytgcTaqjZ8GIqDNhPIUCZf2BaEngpfO9NumwE5E7Roaj9VGCDkO3aYnDYjEyzn%2BaQAeW1QO9%2FHTveZzxS4LAF8j3gyphj4Kjm%2B37DCi476sNmB4Rc0uiojjVUyx8ot0N378JcCdVj6WofszUNYIudA4u47udfMmz653C6ORB%2FuvdcXtFA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9iT0Y70ZA2 points -

So main rifle is a classic army sar41 (mc51). The front end was a classic army MP5 SD. It takes a bit of work to get it all to fit. Some stick with just the mp5 cocking lever. But wanted to keep it realistic and used the G3 one. So had to elongate the slot for the cocking lever. Then you have to do a bit of cutting and filing on the inside to fit the mp5 front end. The sd handguard has to be dremeled wider at the back too, to fit over the g3 body.1 point -

It's worth doing if you prefer the navy lower. Very easy to swap over. I bought the parts from HK Parts in the US. They won't ship internationally though, so you need someone in the US to ship the parts on to you.1 point -

Yes, it's a VFC/Umarex GBB. The lower was a direct fit. I just bought the empty lower and the VFC trigger pack dropped straight in. You do need a matching fire selector for the navy lower as it's longer than the one for stamped lowers. Only took a couple minutes to swap over.1 point -

Hi Al, It is a WE06 PPK 20, but it will have a permanent suppressor fitted to hide a longer prommy inner barrel. That one from Ali should do the job. I am just going to sew in some adjustable straps. It will be about 57cm with stock folded. Cheers1 point -
Somewhat accidentally bidding on an airtac adapter for GHK M4/G5, didn't expect to actually win it. I suppose i'll have it ready for the V2 G5's next year. i got it about half the price of a new one, which is a win I suppose? 😅1 point

"Tomorrow I will mainly wearing OD and a shit ghillie hood that I made myself". Looking forward to seeing you all. I haven't played for about 18 months since my knee replacement so go steady on me. Plus it's more than likely I'm not calling my hits but screaming at my knee (because you never hit because your aim is off). @VictorFourTwo been ages since I've seen you, be great to catch up.1 point

Hi everyone, I've managed to get the outer barrel off now, there were 8 very small Allen screws around the base of the outer barrel that didn't look like they connected to anything, but as it turns out they were just poking out enough on the other side to hold the barrel in place... I have fixed the rotary wobble, however it still moves up and down. I need to get some longer retention bolts than the stock ones and put a nut on the end of each one as I've cross threaded the female portion retention bolt assembly. Thank you all for your help!!1 point -

Quick Questions & Simple Answers.
ruskitseller reacted to Anonymoose for a topic
This is more complicated than i anticipated.. 😂 I'm looking at a TM NGRS SCAR-L, just as a general assault rifle, not for CQB or DMR use. Apparently you can go to 365mm with the standard outer barrel length (which i'd keep) whereas it comes with a 300mm barrel as standard.1 point -

Okay all great news, I have done it… the mcx now has crazy good consistency and the bb trajectory is perfect each time. ive done this by putting a unicorn barrel, bucking, omega nub and winter springs in. The stock springs are way too strong and especially for English weather. The stock springs end up pushing the bb with too much force that it gets placed unevenly in the hop rubber leading to inconsistent hop. The winter springs solves this and make the gun overall nicer to manipulate. the winning combination is: 200mm 6.03 unicorn gbb barrel 60 degree unicorn gbb bucking GSI hop arm maple leaf omega nub bow master vfc npas Jwi hop unit winter springs the winter springs are the one from the airsoft chay video and are a following: Length: 300mm Wire Diameter: 0.6mm Outer Diameter: 8mm https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803437852748.html The people over in the heavy recoil club discord server have been incredibly useful so a massive thank you to them.1 point

I have just had my APFG Rattler delivered today and I am over the moon with the thing! Build quality is insane and it is rock solid, I spent some time cleaning all the icky factory grease out of it and using some gun salve to re-lube it. A massive thanks to @WilloJayfor making me some extended screws for the hammer connector, I made sure to loctite them before testing. After all that prep I chronoed it and holy sh*te does this thing kick, and fling bb's at some insane speeds. Stock with abbey red gas and the suppressor installed I was getting 370fps on .32's😵 I haven't fiddled with the NPAS at all to bring it down but I'll list the out of the box findings below: - STOCK w Suppressor and Abbey Red Gas - 370 - STOCK w/o Suppressor and Abbey Red Gas - 305 - STOCK w Suppressor and Abbey Green Gas - 320 - STOCK w/o Suppressor and Abbey Green Gas - 270 All the test's I've run were with .32's and it was very under-hopped, so I will see if I can get a consistent hop with a good fps in a mo. I was using a standard VFC gen 3 mag that came with the gun for each test, I do have some VFC Gen 3 V-Mag's that I'm going to test to see if it has any impact on performance. I doubt it but its worth a test 🤷♂️1 point

Before I started playing airsoft I wanted to get a gen 3 G17 as it's the base for the 2012 version of Dredds Law Giver. My plan was, and still is, get one, 3d print the kit, fit it and run around the site saying "I am the Law!"1 point

Gutted to have missed this, my attendance was always going to be difficult due to carer commitments to a close relative that have become complicated recently, but I was remaining optimistic that I'd at least manage the morning with you guys. But as usual the proverbial brown stuff hit the spinny thing, late yesterday afternoon I took a massive faceplant on concrete, & broke my left wrist😭. Not my dominant hand but still concerns me, I'm used to swapping hands when I get to 99 ? 🤓0 points
