Should more sites weigh the bbs during chrono?
Tommikka replied to JVacation's topic in General Discussion
That depends - if the joules don’t change the velocity also does not change The joules as per the muzzle velocity is different from the energy imparted in the chamber based on many physics things happening along the barrel The energy imparted onto a BB in the chamber remains the same irrespective of the BB (or actually it might, because force has to be exerted to begin the momentum and a heavier BB will resist more than a lighter BB) It accelerates down the barrel, and depending on the internal barrel size vs the BBs actual size could theoretically float on air, but will have friction or bounce around in the barrel, and also get some friction from the hop up before escaping into the open air These various factors are generally called joule creep when a heavier BB does not come out at the ‘right’ slower velocity to match the equivalent energy. The combination of different configurations / efficiency Joules do change - which is of course the whole argument over with regards to chrono checking After leaving the barrel different BBs and different RIF configurations can result in different performance in flight with some losing monentum gradually, some going further, some flying almost perfectly then suddenly dropping when losing backspin. -

Having lived in Glasgow in the distant past, I am aware that it is the contents of Ian Bru cans that are made from girders. I am also aware that it tastes even worse than Vimto, which, given what the latter is an anagram of, is hard to believe. -

King Arms CAA, in good condition but obviously painted. Previously for sale with a different front end. Full metal receiver and front end. Metal buffer tube cut down with cut down XM stock for a compact build. Integrally suppressed up front, suppressor will accept tracer units or foam as front cap unscrews. The gearbox seems to have partially seized up, it still moves a little when the trigger is pulled. I thought the motor may have stripped but I've taken it apart and everything looks to be in good condition, so it may just be my low powered NIMH batteries that can't manage. Either way, sold as a project, reflected in the price.£110

Should more sites weigh the bbs during chrono?
LMKipper replied to JVacation's topic in General Discussion
My friend - take this from someone who runs chrono at a site as a marshal: a chrono cannot 'measure' the joules of an airsoft gun. It cannot be used to detect someone lying about the weight of their BBs. All a chrono does is measure the speed of the BB - it does not know the weight of the projectile or the energy it is carrying. Inputting the weight into some chronos allows it to calculate the joules based on the input weight of the projectile. If the weight input is incorrect, the subsequent joules calculation will be incorrect. If a gun chronos at 310fps and the user claims to be running 0.25g BBs, the chrono will say the RIF is firing at 1.12j. If they are actually using 0.3g BBs, the chrono will still read 310fps and it will still say it is firing at 1.12j when in reality its more like 1.3j. -
The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
The_Lord_Poncho replied to Skara's topic in General Discussion
Very much a day of two half’s at Driver Wood yesterday. For me, the morning was a rather frustrating affair, and for the first time ever, I left a game slightly early to head for lunch as the enjoyment just wasn't there. The morning revolved around two games of circa 1 hour - although with the larger numbers now experienced at Driver Wood since the demise of DogTag (I think there were 117 in attendance) the game time was eaten into rather a lot by dawdling players (despite pretty good efforts from the marshalling team to chivvy them along). A slightly garbled brief from a relatively new head marshal (although by far not the worst I’ve experienced), which ended in the team count being messed up, with one team having 40 players more than the other. As people were already grabbing their arm bands when this was identified, it seemed to only be partially rectified. The two games that then unfolded were excruciatingly one sided, most notably the final game of the morning - my entire team was pinned into a 40- 50m radius around our spawn in the corner of the site, barely able to move out of it before getting shot. Tempers were flaring up as well, with several shouted arguments between opposition players (not sure if it was just one 'bad apple' that was the root of it) - something that I haven’t really come across much before at the site. I also received a bit of verbal aggression myself when i attempted to re-spawn at our teams second spawn (Driver Wood have a 'hard spawn' and a roaming spawn marked by the teams flag) to find that the enemy had captured and surround it, despite our team flag still being there. I know the opposite team didn't have the best couple of games either, with some of them complaining that our team 'just weren’t moving about' (well - there was a reason for that!). The afternoon was much much better - the numbers were lower with some leaving at lunch - and the teams were re-balanced (properly!). Some great game play, once again able to pull off some sneaky moves, and use the full expanse of the site. Guns used - HPA L96 (not shooting as accurately as I would have liked), M16 A1 (with faux wood furniture), Mk 12 DMR, MP5. The Mk12 and MP5 were the stars of the show, particularly pleased with the Mk12 as I had built that from parts (supper accurate and long ranged), and the Cyma MP5 - with a simple upgrade to a MR hop rubber - was shooting beautifully (accurate and snappy). -

Brand new and unused, has a decently clear dot in both red and green. Some very slight hazing to the front lens from the factory, but doesn't affect use and isn't particularly noticeable, as you can see in the through sight photos. Price includes postage, but buyer covers PayPal fees.£25

Will be cool if the maxim comes with a little trolley. I did wonder about it's relevance today, but Incredibly - its still actually being used in the war in Ukraine...by both sides.
