Lead marshal at a well known site in Suffolk (Ex RAF airfield...) Throwing a full blown tantrum at lunch time because someone had pissed on the portaloo seat was both equally funny, tragic and cringe

Yes feet were stomped, yes there was shouting, yes we were all called dirty c*&ts, yes the scrawny fecker promised to knock out the pee offender followed with the threat of a lifetime ban, no me and my pals haven't been back since (Also no we didn't do the peeing - we chose a far nicer tree to relieve ourselves against as opposed a dirty portaloo in the middle of summer!)

Don't get me wrong - peeing on the seat is a bit grim, but watching a man child have a full blown temper tantrum - was not expecting that!

Also side note - didn't appreciate this Marshall make comments regarding "mongs" and "mong like behaviour" during his briefing. I'm by no means a snowflake, but having previously worked with SEN kids and adults, that just wasn't funny - no matter how many times he dropped it into the briefing...

I was 95% sure I know the site you're talking about as its portaloos are shocking, even by festival standards. Mentioning that it's an ex-RAF airfield is redundant at that point.

But as soon as someone starts screaming 'take your hits' or behaving like they think they are an operator and yelling orders at other players and generally acting like a tit then they need a time out .

Either that or get a life.

pallet sites

Is this a ‘thing’?  My local site makes use of a lot of pallets, but they’ve made a good job of turning a lot of them into proper fully fledged structures or using them as walkways to stop the ground getting churned into sludge when it’s wet.

I will say it is infuriating when the pallets are just stacked on top of each other, making anyone taking cover behind them clearly visible, yet the ‘no-shooting-through-pallet-gaps’ rule reduces you to a ridiculous immersion breaking Mexican standoff.

dickheads that use ghillie suits ... and don't follow the principles of camo and concealment, using heaviest ammo and only getting 50m

As a dickhead who uses a ghillie suit, this one actually really resonates with me and I totally agree (though I've been using civvie loadouts recently to make sure I keep the skills sharp as if I can hide in a hawaiian shirt, I can hide in actual camo); if I had my way, I'd say that you need to use a bolt action to use a ghillie, or a DMR if you're wearing a cobra hood, not a hood with a cloak; cobra hoods are head and shoulders only and people seem to willfully misunderstand that's what those are.

But the number of ghillies that I see who basically just walk around with either some sort of HPA m4, or their bolt action rifle slung and never used with a mk23 loaded with .48s that they shoot people up close with...

Loving this topic as I'm new to airsoft. I had to look up impulses profile to check as I repeatedly got shot by a guy in a Hawaiian shirt last weekend at Outpost Chester, but don't think it was him. 😆

That guy was bloody good I have to say, and very sneaky. Kept shooting me in the arse...

In my defense, the mask was steaming up and I couldn't see a thing. That's my excuse anyway.

Indeed; there is nothing wrong with pallets per se.   One of the best sites that I have ever played at, the much lamented Doomsday, was constructed almost entirely of pallets and was utterly magnificent.

it is also provided me with one of my biggest surprises ever at an airsoft site; I was crawling through the undergrowth when I suddenly found myself literally face to face with with a rather large billy goat.  I think he was as surprised as I was; we both exited the scene.

You didn’t spot him due to his Billy-suit.

Indeed; he didn’t have a bolt action rifle though.

Anyway, this thread has made me realise the least enjoyable thing about playing airsoft is... actually playing airsoft.

Its the usual, dealing with arseholes

From what I remember several variations of that

Player marshals may or may not be effective, but they are not cringe, which is also the case for many of the items in that long list.

I have acted as a player marshal from time to time, but always in collaboration with non-player marshals.  The role is useful for keeping an eye on behaviour within teams.
