It’s 1870, so you’re good to acquire one of these as long as you’re over 18, no defence required.
Speedbird_666
Looks like it also takes percussion caps? Kinda makes it part Airsoft, part 'Model' gun it that's the case?

I think its a cosmetic thing rather than actual caps. Edited November 11 by HuttArmouries Speedbird_666
Speedbird_666
My more pressing question - is TM making a Howa Type 20? That would be pretty amazeballs if they were. Not been following Airsoft developments quite so closely lately, so the answer might be already be common knowledge.

They had a rubber type 20 training rifle on display at the show so they have likely been hired to make all the training gear again. Their type 89 was bought as a training aid so its likely we arent far off getting a type 20 too. Edited November 11 by HuttArmouries

My son has a couple of replicas of pre-1870 pistols and I had no problems buying them without a UKARA registration. If you’re literally only after a wall hanger, Kolser make some half decent replicas that are probably cheaper than this TM will be - https://www.battleorders.co.uk/products/replica-colt-navy-1852?variant=44059923677427

I don't know if it's been confirmed but apparently it's not getting a public release. It's just for military training.
HuttArmouries
Here we go. from the marui website Percussion cap: to further enhance the realism of the M1851, brass (non-exploding) percussion caps have been added. The M1851 sits between the flintlock and the modern revolver. Fulminate percussion caps were placed on the cylinder to fire the bullets (called balls). Tokyo Marui wanted to fully replicate this feature. 28 minutes ago, hitmanNo2 said: I don't know if it's been confirmed but apparently it's not getting a public release. IS it a AEG or maybe an NGRS or GBBr? Does look cool. Edited November 11 by BigAl

They never did an ngrs version of that though for whatever reason.

Not at this moment. Plus it's kind of odd how it's displayed. In that case like that. Not on the wall etc. Plus the card in the display case doesn't scream "wow. Look at our new product. Get your wallet ready"

I am talking about potential airsoft guns not the rubber rifle itself. I brought that up because the fact they have made the rubber rifle just ties in with the fact they are probably making the airsoft versions for the army and thus for commercial sale as well reasonably soon. Sorry about that. Thought you were talking about the type 20 in general rather than specifically the rubber one. Just that it wasn't a product announcement or anything and the general consensus from the show was "maybe they'll release one in the future". I find it unlikely that they wont do the Japanese army rifle and if an airsoft company has been contracted to make one type of training rifle and its not an airsoft gun then its pretty likely an airsoft gun will be coming. I imagine that takes a little longer to develop than a lump of rubber though
rj1986
It would be foolish IMO not to make a type 20 at this point. [Extremely simplistic viewpoint] They have the rubber moulds and dimensions for the externals, the stock is close to the scar so they don't have to spend loads in R&D on making that, the charging handle is non reciprocating so no SCAR broken issues there (for GBB or NGRS), and ambi fire selector is again already designed. They would need to make sure they can fit a gearbox in there or the MWS system, and the ambi mag release but thats about it. And official TM P-mags would just print money. hitmanNo2
Something to consider is that it might be out of the hands of TM. They've fulfilled/are fulfilling a government contract remember. It might dictate no public sales. I had a read through it the SDF procurement requirements specification and apparently it needs to make a gun shot sound when it fires. Unclear if that's an electronic sound like one of their bolt rifles or if the report of a GBB would accomplish that. But the government previously allowed commercial sales of the type 89 which was also a training aid. Its practically free advertising for recruitment. There is nothing special or secret about the type 20 so what would be the reason for restricting a toy version of it?
Supporters TheFull9 Posted November 12 Supporters Share Posted November 12 Any military officer or civilian of high enough rank who's involved with that sort of program can decide at any time they don't like the feeling of x, y or z and write it in to the contract. I'm not saying that has happened here, but it's the sort of thing that does and can happen. As always, the only proof of the pudding will be eating it i.e. wait and see. That's all anyone can do.
