I've not seen any solid reviews yet, but the newly release Specna Arms Prime series are looking great out of the box and reasonably priced. I am thinking of purchasing one myself but just need to see some proper reviews first. To be fair, I only think the first batches arrived in the UK for sale last week

The Specna Prime's look very interesting... A decent base gun with a brushless motor and a higher-end control unit.

I've  loved my Double Eagle M906C but given i had an overheating issue when spamming semi auto, to the point the Falcon fire control failed, then I'm slightly more reticent about recommending it.  Currently it's not quite set up correctly, sounds a bit shrieky and still prone to getting toasty, but when i lend it to people to try they're still really impressed with it, it's the most accurate gun I've got, and honestly that's just such an important attribute.

One make that's been left out of the suggestions so far is Novritsch.  They seem to be solid even if the branding carries it's own peculiar baggage.

All airsoft guns are overpriced toys with random quality control.

But you're paying for the grins, not quality or guaranteed performance.

The good news is that there are few real lemons in the current market, so you're spoiled for choice, even within particular platforms or models.  Even the most basic plastic CYMA M4 works just fine out of the box, once you've cleaned the barrel and dialled the hop in. There's no need to mod anything, although most guns will benefit from for a Maple Leaf hop rubber and nub, and a rotary hop unit if they don't have one.  Beyond that, it's down to the value of features like fire control units.

So, as above, help us to help you by narrowing it down.  Tell us the platform that you like the look of, what you'll be using it for, and your approximate budget. Or just stop at @Amokura's list, it's as good as any.

This. Case in point, my GE gas shotgun. Performancewise it's pretty mediocre and I tend to do better with my pistol but it's still my go to primary for cqb. Why? Because it's so much fun to use

Cyma M14 Socom or GTFO.

Deffo +1 on that, it's a lot of well performing gun for the money 👍, & looks cool af in what is usually a sea of vanilla armalites🤮

Assuming we mean just do nothing , absolutely nothing to it then I’ve Had great results from a pair of Specna edge 2.0 models , recently picked up one of the new WELL WE-10 series ( Sig Rattler clones)  and it absolutely rips , real fun little gun and although my distaste for polymer body’s when they should be monkey metal it’s really quite impressive , trademarked to a fashion , internally it’s running like a boss . At around £170 it’s looking like a great value gun so far.

Interesting you should say that about the Well gun, as this one was linked in a promo email I got a couple of days ago...

And I have to say it looks rather good!  If the internals are up to snuff, it's maybe a decent option to cover the AK side of the equation

There are actually good out of the box and nicely built for a polymer rif.

Did you not have to change the springs?  I just got hold of 2 new ones and both the stock springs were a bit hot.  The extra spring they include was a bit low so I bought a couple of M100s and they’re perfect now.  At least the quick change spring functionality made it dead easy to swap them out.

both have quick change gearboxes so were done & set up ready to go. One runs at about 320 and the other around 340 , both are the Rock River arms M4a1 variants .

However even if they weren’t ( over site limits aside ! ) I really wouldn’t class a quick change spring gearbox ( a feature that you are paying for and buying ) a hassle at all , much like the programmable Aster mosfet . I bought both guns because of these features.

I'd happily go with any EDGE 1.0 or 2.0

If they had the M120s in, then they were likely to be a "bit" Section-5 firearmey.  UK sellers should be putting the M90s in, although I agree that you'll likely want to put in an M100 (or 95, or whatever dials you in closer to 1.1J.

One of the great things my JG G36 is the adjustable spring tensioner, which lets me dial it in precisely to site limits on properly hopped ammo[*]. It's very disappointing that JG seems to have dropped that feature, and that nobody else (that I know of) has adopted it.

[*] And would let me dial it up hot literally as I walk away from chrono, if I was that way inclined - did I mention that pre-game chrono is pure theatre? ;)

To be fair to the retailer they did chrono them first.  One of them was very hot so they swapped it out with the other spring that came with it (which I think is a M90).  The other one was only just over 350fps/0.2gBB so they let that slide.  I put M100s in and they’re now both around 345fps.

This sounds very interesting 🤔

Not a great deal of information online though it seems.

Looks like it comes with a PEQ15 style battery box - I’m guessing there’s no chance of running a battery in the handguard then?
Also, does it have a threaded outer barrel to run a suppressor/muzzle device?

I’ve removed the fake gas block and tucked an 11.1 / 1100mah battery in there , it is threaded , standard -14mm .

Ah perfect 👌Thanks.

I might have to do a little purchase to fill the rattler shaped hole in my life. Can’t justify the cost of the APFG or GBB life.

I got an email today, Novritsch have updated their M4 with some small improvements...

https://eu.novritsch.com/product/ssr4-automatic-electric-gun-aeg/

Note that the lighter (cheaper) polymer is only 100g lighter than the metal variant.  Only the difference in the bank balance after purchase would be noticeable 🤗
