JamesAirsofterAgent Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Airfix-A50060-WWI-Western-Diorama/dp/B0021L9C2 Just found a Great War airfix set, but bit expensive lol...
BBrotherwood Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 I have been known to finish models two years after I start them Mainly because I have the kind of mind that goes 'ooh shiny' and gets distracted by other stuff Dont worry about finishing it quickly, work on it when you want to, you will get better results that way. Investing in a cupboard to avoid model death might also be a plan JamesAirsofterAgent 1
AirsoftTed Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 I've no experience with them, the set I had was the massive 60th anniversary set. Cost around £50 I believe. I'm led to also believe they're now collectors pieces?
JamesAirsofterAgent Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 This one teddy? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Airfix-D-Day-Operation-Overlord-Gift/dp/B00IJZIEWY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410128762&sr=8-1&keywords=airfix+dday Please could you put a pic up of yours if you still have it? (The word had worries me lol)
JamesAirsofterAgent Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Because after seeing that one I might get that one instead lol.
JamesAirsofterAgent Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Added with this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Airfix-Scale-D-Day-Assault-Gift/dp/B00IJZIDSO/ref=pd_bxgy_k_h_b_cs_text_y What you reckon? These two, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Airfix-D-Day-Operation-Overlord-Gift/dp/B00IJZIEWY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410128762&sr=8-1&keywords=airfix+dday Or the three I posted before?
BBrotherwood Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 The second one is a slightly smaller scale at 1/76 - which is the same as OO scale for model railways. You would get more models in it though...
AirsoftTed Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 Unfortunately all three sets of it were binned, this is the one, its like twice the size of the ones linked! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AIRFIX-D-DAY-1-72-Scale-60th-Anniversary-limited-edition-set-/251626169278?pt=UK_ToysGames_ModelKits_ModelKits_JN&hash=item3a9616a3be quoted to get your attention JamesAirsofterAgent 1

Supporters Finius Posted September 8, 2014 Supporters Posted September 8, 2014 Fantasy/Scifi wargaming for me only at the moment! Play a lot of Warhammer/40k - also really digging Dystopian Wars at the moment but would like to start building some WW1/WW2 armor models for display only purposes! Will get some pictures of my better work up shortly! BBrotherwood, Lozart and JamesAirsofterAgent 3
Supporters Lozart Posted September 8, 2014 Supporters Posted September 8, 2014 Fine Molds and a fine price You get what you pay for! That is a 1/72nd model so it's huge and FM make spectacular detail on their kits. There is a 1/144 scale Falcon too that is about £43 and far easier to justify..... BBrotherwood 1
JamesAirsofterAgent Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 The wooden model pic I posted today is soooo hard the instructions do bugger all and basiccally just look at the photo used to advertise this! Rrggghhhhh
BBrotherwood Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Some of the woodcraft stuff I got a couple of weeks back: It just looks like a series of diagrams for thigh gaps... Good luck AirsoftTed 1
JamesAirsofterAgent Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Gonna start a nice and easy of Focke Wulf now so I have a few more planes for the D-Day diorama! ...... I'll need more than luck, I'll need an A* in deciphering crappy instructions lol
AirsoftTed Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 Yet again all of what I ordered isn't in stock. This is becoming a habit... lol
JamesAirsofterAgent Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Happens to me too much lol....cough cough Argos cough cough
JamesAirsofterAgent Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 The Focke Wulf: Hopefully it'll look better once painted! Shame I trod on the spitfire AirsoftTed 1
Russe11 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Damn you. Because of this thread I have now ordered a couple of kits: 1:76 Matilda MkII from airfix 1:76 Australian Infantry by Revell Now I will have to work out how to make a small patch of 1:76 jungle to put them in. I imagine a bit of model making will be quite fun, I haven't done it in years. AirsoftTed and JamesAirsofterAgent 2
JamesAirsofterAgent Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Do you people use clay or expanding foam or something else for the places ,"scenes" that you put them in? I've only used clay and haven't actually bought a proper diorama kit yet but am looking at the ones I linked....
AirsoftTed Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 I'm going to be using the paper mache technique to form a landscape, then i'll buy/make trees fences and buildings. Heres one way to landscape :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kQ2UAkmxZE @ Russell (sorry if theres only one l mate I always forget!) Maybe try a clearing/the edge of the jungle? Few trees on the very edge of the base, the rest can be grass/sand/soil with your tank and infantry posed there? JamesAirsofterAgent 1
