I'm going to be using the paper mache technique to form a landscape, then i'll buy/make trees fences and buildings.

Heres one way to landscape :

@ Russell (sorry if theres only one l mate I always forget!)

Maybe try a clearing/the edge of the jungle? Few trees on the very edge of the base, the rest can be grass/sand/soil with your tank and infantry posed there?

Thanks!

Mum says if I do good in test (an A or higher) I'll be able to have two of the sets as gifts woo HOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Predicted grade is an A so hopefully....

Here are my airfix soldiers, most are 1:72 apart from the Second World War German infantry:

My misfits who have been found in charity shops going for 1p each:

The napoleonic era infantry:

French Great War infantry:

The dead person. Please dont hate me for saying this but I think this adds more realism and shows what it was like with the dead being everywhere:

The Great War German infantry, including the deadly flamethrower sand stretcher bearers:

Damn you. Because of this thread I have now ordered a couple of kits:

1:76 Matilda MkII from airfix

1:76 Australian Infantry by Revell

Now I will have to work out how to make a small patch of 1:76 jungle to put them in.

I imagine a bit of model making will be quite fun, I haven't done it in years.

Alright , I need some help.

Do I, for the ww1 diorama do it this way:

http://t.answers.com/answers/#!/entry/how-do-you-make-a-model-of-a-world-war,4fe297934b672622b84ad240

Or do I buy one from airfix:

Airfix - WWI Western Front Gift Set - 1:76 (A50060)

Please say as in a bit of a dilemma..... If I bought the airfix one, I'd try and do it like so:

My camera is on the fritz again, but I've pulled a couple of crap shots of some of my minis from facebook.

First is a GW Skaven Doomwheel 'WIP' at this stage it just needed basing and then washes/minor highlighting etc but is basically where I wanted it:

Next up, a pair of GW Skaven Rat Ogres from their Island of Blood set once again - 'WIP' - these guys just needed basing and another wash:

Completed GW Skaven Warpfire Thrower from their Island of Blood set:

Completed GW Tyranid Tervigon - he doesn't look *quite* so rubbish in the flesh, the bulb in my display cabinet was a bit too bright when this was taken, as a result some of the more subtle work is washed out (not that I'm much good with a brush either way):

I've got a dozen or so X-Wing minis, way more Skaven, an honest-to-god f**kton of 40k models, a Dystopian Wars fleet and god knows what else kicking about that is yet to be photographed.

Soon gonna be starting a collection of WW2 battleships/carriers I think...

How I would make a WW1 trench:

-Draw the trench layout on a board

-Use an air drying modelling clay to layout the floor of the trench and use matchsticks for the side supports. Build up the sides with matchsticks and add any boards for walking on.

-Use polyfiller or plaster of paris to build up the trench walls by layering over the back of the match sticks

-use masking tape and scrunched up newspaper to build up the surrounding land.

-build the surface of the surrounding land up with plaster or clay.

Bit of a bugger but for me to start my diorama making hobby, my Mum says she wants me to buy the:

https://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/airfix-172-wwi-western-front-gift-set/

Just to make sure I enjoy it. But, my dad kinda likes Airfix so I'm hoping to get him a bit interested :D

So its a start!!

My money box named "Airsoft funds" has been changed to "Airsoft funds plus a quarter of Airfix funds" lol...

Anyone used that site??
